On radio Tuesday, Glenn shared with his listeners the sad news of the passing of his wife's Uncle Leo, who Glenn had become close to during dinners with Tania's family before they were married.
Although Uncle Leo rarely spoke about his service in WWII, Glenn said one evening after a wedding they were both attending, he opened up and told Glenn in great detail where he was and what he did on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
"Leo told me amazing stories that night," Glenn said. "I got into the car that night with my wife, Tania, and I said, 'Boy, I could spend days with Uncle Leo. The stories of World War II.' She said, 'What stories of World War II?'
Glenn realized Leo had never told anyone in the family about his experiences in the war.
"He never talked about it until a washed out, non-dancing alcoholic walked up to him and said, 'When did you get here?' And for some reason, he decided to tell me," Glenn said.
