Lee Soon-kyu, now 85 years old, held her husband once more after being apart from him for 65 years.
The outbreak of the Korean War in 1950 separated the two and they never saw each other again, until now.
Lee and 389 South Koreans crossed the demilitarized-zone into the North this past Tuesday, to reunite with long-lost relatives - a rare occurrence between the two nations.
Her husband, Oh In-se, now 83 years old, ended up in the North and Lee settled down in the South. Lee never remarried and she managed to raise their son alone and become a grandmother herself.
Together once again, Lee gushed forth:
"I can't tell how much I missed you. I have wept so much thinking of us that there are no tears left in me."
Her husband, holding her hand, replied, "My dear, I didn't know that the war would do this to us."
There have been only 19 such family reunions since the Korean War ended, but maybe one day, God willing, both countries can come together for a permanent reunion.
