Rock legend David Bowie passed away at 69 on Sunday, but left behind a rich treasure trove of music and alter egos.
Whether a fan of Bowie's or not, there's no denying the influence of his musical genius. In a career that spanned nearly six decades, Bowie delivered some of the most outrageous and memorable musical moments and sounds of all time.
Bowie's latest effort, Blackstar, was released last week on his birthday and created while fighting a losing battle with cancer.
"It would be interesting to hear that," Glenn said Monday on The Glenn Beck Program. "It's like Cash was the last album of Johnny Cash, and that had real meaning behind each song."
Included on Blackstar is a beautiful and haunting song entitled Lazarus. The story of Lazarus is synonymous with death and resurrection, based on the biblical account in John 11. Jesus delayed going to see his very sick friend Lazarus, because he had another plan in store to raise him from the dead. “This sickness is not unto death,” Christ said, “but for the glory of God, that the Son of Man may be glorified through it.”
The music video---as weird and wonderful as Bowie himself---features the music icon singing as he’s pulled from a hospital bed:

GLENN: So some sad news today, I didn't even know he was sick. But David Bowie has passed away.
PAT: Apparently nobody knew. He didn't announce it publicly.
GLENN: He didn't tell anybody?
PAT: No. Obviously his wife knew. But nobody publicly knew.
GLENN: So this has come as a shock to everybody, not just me?
STU: Yeah. And he just released an album on Friday. Kind of planned it right before his death. Still didn't tell anybody.
JEFFY: Yeah.
PAT: Sad.
JEFFY: In fact, the one close friend said that -- like Stu said, they planned it. And he still was devastated when he died because he didn't expect it.
STU: Hmm.
GLENN: Unbelievable. So the album came out Friday?
PAT: Yeah.
GLENN: So this is his -- this is --
STU: What's what he was doing?
GLENN: And he did it with that in mind?
STU: Yeah.
GLENN: Holy cow.
PAT: I'm not a big David Bowie musical fan, but it would be interesting to check this one out.
GLENN: It would be interesting to hear that. It's like Cash was the last album of Johnny Cash, and that had real meaning behind each song.
PAT: And he knew too, right?
GLENN: He knew too. He knew too.
