Okay, this is WAY inside baseball. But we are getting ready to launch a new season of the radio show with a new set, theme and features on Feb 1st. It will be the biggest retool we have ever done that be fully rolled out for a few months as we are in the process of building new production facilities just for a few new features on the radio show.
Here is a very late night test of some of the new audio and camera gear. None of it is right yet. The set is less than half finished. Here you will see us debating the sound of the room and the MICS. I want to find a way that all of the MICS are hidden. But we began with what does the room sound like with just the usual fare. It may be fall before we figure out the right gear and processing for "hidden MICS" in a room this full of "bounce."
The cameras are also all new. From GoPros to cameras that cost $30k. Some of the cameras we are trying aren't even out on the market yet. As with the MICS we will know by fall. Believe it or not, this entire year is only phase one of a larger plan that we hope to launch next year, but we need to work the system as hard as we can to make sure we keep the quality to the level network broadcast demands.
For those who want a real behind the scenes look, here you go.
By the way, this is small potatoes compare to our launch of the new season of the TV show.
We will be doing three different style shows. Chalkboard/history, heroes and activism and something very risky as it is a whole new way of bringing you the news. In perhaps a more entertaining way. The five PM show will premiere sometime early spring.
I am very excited as I have finally assembled the team that can make the ideas that I have been pushing to do for over five years, actually happen!
We will be doing a really cool behind the scenes show on what it takes to retool a national radio show in a few weeks. But here is really raw and perhaps very boring video. :)
