They said I hated Van Jones because I spoke out. I didn't. I stood for his right to be a communist. But I don't have to believe it.
They said I hated Barack Obama because I spoke against him. I didn't. I stood for his right to associate with Marxist revolutionaries. But I don't have to join in.
They said I just hated Soros because I exposed him. I didn't. I stood for his right to do with his money as he wishes. But I don't have to buy into it.
They now say I hate another billionaire—Donald Trump—because I warn against him. I don't. I stand for his right to be a deep, lifelong liberal progressive. But I don't have to embrace it.
What I find objectionable with all of these men is their dishonesty. It is simply the fact that they all feel the need to lie about what they truly believe. To live in the shadows and prey upon men's freedoms. The fact that they smear and attempt to destroy anyone who stands in their way is against everything most Americans believe. The ends DO NOT justify the means—no matter which side is employing the Saul Alynski rules.
I believe: The truth matters. Context matters. Associations and a humble and contrite heart matter.
But most of all, I believe this: The truth will set you free. In today's world, speaking that truth to the powerful, left or right, will make your life a living hell. But that is okay.
Because in the end, you have your integrity . . . and you are free.
