Someone alert the media because the media have distorted Glenn's words! On second thought, no sense in alerting the already senseless.
In what can only be called the shoddiest of journalism, liberal blogs and the mainstream liberal media have once again twisted and distorted Glenn's words. This time about the passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and what it means for the country.
Here are just a few of the headlines spewed by liberal blogs and later picked up by the mainstream liberal media:
Glenn Beck: God had to kill Antonin Scalia to help put Ted Cruz in the White House
Literal Holy Crap: Glenn Beck Says Scalia’s Death Part of God’s Plan to Elect Ted Cruz
Glenn Beck: God Allowed Scalia to Die to Wake Up Americans to Vote for Cruz
Surely, these reporters fact-checked their source before attributing their outrageous headlines directly to Glenn, right? Wrong, absolutely not. Had they done their homework or cared about reporting with integrity, they would not have written malicious headlines or left out this rather essential quote from Glenn referencing Scalia's passing:
"I don't want to assume that I know His plan." —Glenn Beck, Tuesday on The Glenn Beck Program
But really, what more can we expect from liberal bloggers and a corrupt mainstream media that could care less about the truth? (A special shout out to CNN for using the kooky Right Wing Watch as their source. That's some stellar journalism, CNN.)
Context matters, MSM and other liberal news outlets, so here it is:
Tuesday on The Glenn Beck Program, Pat and Stu filled in for Glenn who was in Boston. Pat wondered on air about God's plan in Justice Scalia passing now at this critical time. (FYI, liberal media, the faithful do believe in divine providence and that God has a plan in our lives . . . crazy talk, we know). Glenn called in and offered his thoughts, answering Pat's question:
“I don't want to assume that I know His plan, but I will tell you this. I thought when this happened . . . 'You're welcome, I just woke the American people up. I took them out of the game show moment and woke enough of them up to say, Look how close your liberty is to being lost. You now have lost your liberty. You replace one guy, and you now have a 5-4 decision in the other direction.' Glenn continued, “The Constitution is hanging by a thread. That thread has just been cut. And the only way that we survive now is if we have a true constitutionalist [as president].”
Glenn did not channel the voice of God (listen to the actual audio below and make up your own mind). Nor did he proclaim the passing of a faithful and honest public servant was the handy work of God in order to elect a specific president. (That really would have been news.) Rather, he followed another common Christian principle that with tragedy comes opportunity, and that opportunity is a gift (translation liberal media: making lemonade out of lemons).
Both Glenn and Stu took to social media (without guidance from God) to respond to these distorted headlines and claims.

As I am driving to the airport to come home I check the news.
Apparently the MSM is reporting that I said "God killed Scalia to help Ted Cruz."
Outrageous.
What I did say is "perhaps God allowed Scalia to die at this time to wake America up to how close we are to the loss of our freedom".
I happen to believe in divine providence. Americans historically have. Maybe you do not. That is your choice and I do not mock you for not. Why mock me for believing in a traditional view of God?
Maybe He did, maybe He didn't. Are we awake to our sorry state? I am not sure. If the freedom that we are about to lose belongs to God for future generations, it would only make sense that He would try to wake us. No?
He gives us free choice. Who He wants as president I do not know. What path He wants America to take to best preserve His rights and roles for us, I do not know.
The event is in the hand of God. No matter how the press wants to twist my words or meaning, I stand by we need to be awakened.

Yet another wonderful story floating around about Glenn Beck:
Here are some of the headlines.
---
Glenn Beck: God had to kill Antonin Scalia to help put Ted Cruz in the White House
Literal Holy Crap: Glenn Beck Says Scalia’s Death Part of God’s Plan to Elect Ted Cruz
Glenn Beck: God Allowed Scalia to Die to Wake Up Americans to Vote for Cruz
----
What's missing from all these headlines?? That's right! Quotes!
You see, Glenn didn't actually say any of the things in these headlines. He didn't say "God had to kill Antonin Scalia" for Ted Cruz. He didn't say Scalia's death was part of "God's plan to elect Ted Cruz." He didn't say God was helping "put Cruz in the White House" by killing Scalia.
In fact, in all of these stories about how Glenn Beck thinks he knows God's plan, guess what phrase was magically left out of each and every one of the transcripts?
BECK: "I don't want to assume that I know his plan"
Surely, that was just a mistake to leave that line out. Right?
Glenn can speak for himself when he comes back on Friday, but what I took from his point was something he has discussed many times.
With tragedy, comes an opportunity to refocus. That opportunity is a gift.
When a family member passes away, perhaps you refocus on connecting with your family. That doesn't mean that God murdered your brother to help the long distance phone company. Only a complete moron would take it that way.
More famously, Glenn started the 9/12 project. With the tragedy of 9/11, came the opportunity of 9/12 - a chance to refocus on what is really important. Faith. Hope. Love. Charity. That doesn't mean God killed 3,000 people so that firemen would have their boots filled with spare change. Only a complete moron would take it that way. See a pattern here?
With Scalia--sure-- we can all mourn a great man passing away. And we should. But, what did that great man care about? What did he stand for?
Glenn's belief that we should try to focus on what is important following a tragedy is something that he has tried to communicate his whole career. In this example, what was important to Scalia is what is important to the country. The constitution.
Whoever you believe would most honor the constitution is the person you should vote for. Obviously, to Glenn, that person is Ted Cruz.
Perhaps, if we all spent a little time trying to figure out who would most closely guard the constitution if elected, we could truly honor the life of Antonin Scalia.
Glenn has chimed in on his facebook page, calling the accusations "outrageous."
Outrageous, indeed. The days of the media being a watchdog for truth have long passed.
