If you’re a parent, you know it’s that dreaded time of year again: PARCC testing season. For the uninitiated, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) raked in $186 million through the federal Race to the Top program to develop nationalized tests “aligned” to the Common Core standards developed in Beltway backrooms. Initially, 24 states plus the District of Columbia signed up for the PARCC testing racket driven by corporate assessment special interests and federal lobbyists. Over the past two years, a grass-roots opt-out revolt across ideological lines has resulted in mass boycotts of the costly, intrusive, data-mining tests. None of this has affected the stubborn Fed Ed propaganda machine, however.
While students in 9 states still must suffer countless hours of test prep and training that impinges on their already limited instructional time, their PARCC cheerleader teachers apparently have a lot of time – and I mean, a lot — on their hands to make “motivational” music videos about the crappy PARCC tests.
