Glenn spoke with Oklahoma state representative Dan Fisher this morning regarding a critical deadline in the Oklahoma legislature — which takes place TODAY.
Oklahomans voted out Common Core standards, telling the state legislature and the Board of Education to develop new standards. Instead, they've re-packaged, re-branded and re-submitted "new" standards that are very similar to Common Core.
"They had two years, Glenn, to do all of this," said Rep. Fisher. "They dragged their feet for almost a year in lawsuits and all that stuff. Then they dragged their feet some more. Then we get them [the standards] in February. Then here we are at this deadline."
Six experts were asked to review the new standards and sounded the alarm, saying the Board of Education is trying to back door Common Core into Oklahoma schools.
Oklahomans concerned about Common Core should contact their representatives and senators and melt the phones lines in opposition to these shenanigans. Visit Stop Common Core in Oklahoma on Facebook for details and contact information.
