Tuesday night marked another shift in momentum for the GOP primary season. It took all of a nanosecond for media outlets to proclaim Donald Trump the victor in New York, where the real estate mogul, as expected, won resoundingly. Co-host Stu Burguiere found a few interesting number nuggets to share Wednesday on The Glenn Beck Program.
Not Quite a Sweep, But Close
With 95 delegates at stake in the Empire State, Trump grabbed up just about every single one. Only a month ago, experts predicted him winning around 71, and just two weeks ago they said the mid 80s. Trump outperformed expectations, ending up with 89 or 90 once the dust settles.
Home Court Advantage
Donald Trump picked up the largest percentage of votes among the three candidates in their home states, but the raw vote total tells a different story.
Percentage Results in Respective Home States:
Donald Trump: 60.5%
John Kasich: 46.8%
Ted Cruz: 43.8%
Voting Results in Respective Home States:
Ted Cruz: 1,239,000
John Kasich: 957,000+
Donald Trump: 519,000+
Exit Poll Surprise
Typically, Democrats have issues with big business and Wall Street, but this election season exit polling showed surprising data on the GOP side. New York Republicans --- 48 percent --- say Wall Street is actually hurting rather than helping the U.S.
