Glenn, a self-described catastrophist, also looks on the bright side --- and for lessons to be learned --- in every situation.
Following Senator Ted Cruz's announcement Friday that he would be voting for Donald Trump while encouraging others to do the same, Glenn identified an unexpected gift from the revelation.
"I think we have something to thank Ted Cruz for, and it's not necessarily what he's looking to be thanked for," Glenn said Monday on his radio program.
Music enthusiast and co-host Pat Gray offered an idea.
"Is it the end of the innocence?" Pat asked.
Unfortunately, no, that ended long ago.
"Here's what Ted Cruz has given you: Your credibility," Glenn said. "Congratulations, for those of you currently standing, you have your credibility."

GLENN: I have to tell you -- I have to tell you, I have -- I think we all do. I think we have something to thank Ted Cruz for. And it's not necessarily what he's looking to be thanked for.
PAT: Is it the end of the innocence?
GLENN: No, no, no. I think he's actually given us a great gift. It goes right to what Stu was just saying, and I'll share that here.
PAT: All right. It doesn't feel like a great gift, but okay.
GLENN: It is. It is. It is.
GLENN: Okay. So does anybody want to hear the good news that Ted Cruz actually gave to us as a gift?
PAT: Yes. Please.
JEFFY: Yes, please.
GLENN: For those of us who have stood -- we stood against George W. Bush towards the end, and we stood for our principles. And we said, "No, George Bush, I mean, prescription drugs. And the border."
GLENN: And we stood against it --
PAT: Ramos and Compean.
GLENN: Right. Right.
We had some credibility. Then we became these right-wing lunatics that only hated President Obama and had nothing to do with nothing. Then we became these, "Oh, we just hate Donald Trump." And we're just sticking with Ted Cruz because we have our feelings hurt.
GLENN: And we've taken money from Ted Cruz or whatever.
PAT: How much is he going to give us after this?
GLENN: Not anything. He might even demand some of that bribery back.
PAT: Oh, there's too much. I mean, we've already spent hundreds of millions of dollars.
GLENN: Here's what people have -- here's what Ted Cruz has given you: Your credibility.
PAT: Yeah, that's true.
GLENN: He has given you, in a place where there is no credibility with anyone anymore, he has given you your credibility. It's not about Donald Trump. It's not about Barack Obama. It wasn't about George Bush. And it's not about Ted Cruz. It's about principles. Principles over parties. Principles over people.
GLENN: Congratulations, for those of you currently standing, you have your credibility.
