Utah native Melissa Cochran was among the 50 people injured nearly two weeks ago in the London terror attack. What started out as a romantic getaway with her husband, Kurt, ended in the worst way imaginable. When terrorist Khalid Masood plowed into a crowd of tourists on the Westminster Bridge on March 22, Cochran lost her husband of 25 years.
Now, a newly widowed Cochran is recovering from injuries she sustained during the attack: a broken leg, a broken rib, and facial cuts, People magazine reported. She is lucky to be alive. But what’s even more remarkable than Cochran’s survival story is the incredible attitude with which she is approaching such a tragedy.
Over the weekend, she shared this quote from the hospital: “What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”
