Saudi Arabia has granted citizenship to a robot named Sophia who said in an interview that she "would be nice to us if we are nice to her." First off, it's just weird to quote what a robot said in an interview but is it just me or was that a threat? And what does her AI consider nice?
Futurist Ray Kurzweil predicts the day man melds with the machine will be 2029, so granting rights might just be a moot point if we wend up assimilating into a half man/half machine race of futuristic cyborgs.
So what do you think? Bring on the "Singularity" or should we reign in our granting of rights to a bunch of wires and metal?
