FACT CHECK: Do gun bans work? Ask the UK

You already know your Second Amendment rights are under attack — perhaps now more than ever. The progressive left is pushing the same anti-gun narrative they’ve always used, only this time they’ve got a bunch of “untouchable” kids, who’ve survived an attack in their own school, to deliver the message for them. Why? Because when it comes to radical change and transformation: emotion is king.

One of the perennial favorites among anti-gun arguments is that mass shootings simply don’t happen in other “advanced” countries. In the words of former President Barack Obama, “The United States of America is the one advanced nation on Earth in which we not have sufficient, common-sense gun-safety laws — even in the face of repeated mass killings…. We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours.”

Time after time, the examples of Australia and the UK are used as proof-positive by these anti-gun crusaders. But what are the real statistics? If a gun-ban is really the cure for violent crimes, what are we waiting for?

On today’s show, Glenn breaks out the chalk board to give us the real gun-control-statistics, including the top 10 countries with the highest death rate from mass shootings, a timeline of Australia’s violent-crime-rate before, during and after they banned guns in 1996, and what’s happening in the UK since their 1997 gun-ban.

“Like Australia and other countries, the UK banned guns in the late 90’s,” said Glenn. “They did it in response to a mass shooting. But the question is, did it work? According to the pro-gun-control lobby, it did. But here are the actual facts. Ever since law-abiding citizens were stripped of their ability to defend themselves, violent crime in the UK has gone completely out of control.”
