Dr. Robert Epstein, senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology and former Editor-in-chief of "Psychology Today," joined Glenn Beck on the Wednesday night's TV special to discuss how big tech companies can (and almost certainly will) dramatically shift America's elections -- without anyone knowing.
Dr. Epstein's research found that Google was deliberately altering what you see on the internet to sway opinions. He said that Google's search algorithm has the power to "shift the voting preferences of undecided voters by 20 percent or more -- up to 80 percent in some demographic groups -- with virtually no one knowing they are being manipulated."
In his own experiment, Dr. Epstein was able to employ the same methods to completely change someone's view of a candidate between 37 and 63 percent of the time -- in just one search session.
But search engine manipulation is only one of the ways big tech companies can manipulate voters. Another technique is through those search suggestions that pop up as you type in a search, or "ephemeral experiences." And, according to Dr. Epstein, there are at least eight more of these covert -- but effective -- ways to shift American votes.
He told Glenn he's recently been working with the White House and now believes the administration will launch an investigation into the ways in which these big tech companies might be undermining our elections.
