“When we turn back to God, he shows up.” Glenn has repeated this over the airwaves for years, and it is more pertinent now than ever. When life is easy, it is common to have faith in man-made institutions, like politics, the economy, or military strength. However, in uncertain times, like our present one, the truth becomes clear: while these man-made institutions are important, our ultimate hope is in God, and if we turn to him, he will be with us.
Last year in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks in Israel, Glenn published his Covenant Guide that explores this teaching in more detail. What does it mean to turn back to God? How will he show up when we do? What covenants has he made with his people throughout history? Since October 7th, we’ve heard reports of the Jewish people experiencing their own revival of turning back to God during their dark times, and how God continually fulfills his covenants with his people.
We previously heard from Rabbi Joshua Friedman on how secular Jews in the IDF are turning back to God and requesting Tefillin to commemorate their return to faith. Tefillin consists of two black leather boxes with straps that Jewish men are commanded to wear on their head and arm during morning prayers. Each of the boxes contains small scrolls with hand-written excerpts from the Torah. Tefillin isn’t a mere garment; it is a commandment, a mitzvah, for Jewish men. While wearing Tefillin, Jewish men proclaim their faith in the Lord with the declaration of the Shema prayer “Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One” (Deuteronomy 6:4).
Rabbi Friedman says that October 7th was a turning point for Jewish people. Prior to the terror attacks, it was easy for Israelis to put their faith in the IDF. Now, Israelis and Jewish people all over the world are realizing that their true hope is in God, and they are turning back to him.
The ongoing conflict facing Israel has only escalated. In addition to fighting the Hamas terrorists who orchestrated the October 7th terror attacks, they are now facing an additional front to the north with Hezbollah. All the while, a large-scale attack from Iran is imminent. Rabbi Friedman gave Glennbeck.com an exclusive update on the ground from Israel detailing what it’s like living amid the growing threats from these hostile actors, but most of all, how the Jewish people continue to turn to God as our only hope.
Here is Rabbi Friedman’s exclusive on-the-ground report from Israel. To learn more about how you can support him and his mission to provide Tefillin to every IDF soldier who wants to commit their life to God, click HERE.
An EXCLUSIVE report from Israel
The Iranian regime thrives on fear, brutality, and murder. Their intentions are clear: first, destroy the "Little Satan" (Israel), then target the “Big Satan,” the United States. In Israel, we are bracing for an imminent attack from Iran while our forces are tirelessly fighting Hamas to the west and Hezbollah to the north. These are trying times indeed, but during these times, Israelis from all corners of the small country are turning to faith as a stronghold.
Prior to October 7th, Jews in Israel and all over the world placed their faith primarily in the IDF. Indeed, Israel’s army is powerful, yet unlike the Almighty, it is not all-powerful. IDF’s failings that led to over 1,200 casualties, 252 hostages, and nearly a year of war underscore the need to refocus on the One truly in control.
Since the October 7th attacks, a remarkable number of Jews have embraced tradition and faith, some for the first time in their lives. Case in point: 8,000 non-religious soldiers requested tefillin, the black, scroll-filled boxes Jewish men wear during prayer.
The staggering number of IDF soldiers clamoring for Tefillin is indicative of this profound movement sweeping amongst the Jewish people: that our ultimate hope is in God, not armies.
An even more powerful testament to this spiritual awakening is what happened on Saturday, April 13, just before Passover. That night, Iran launched over 300 missiles at Israel. Israeli citizens braced for impact, fearing chaos and destruction more devastating than October 7. As they huddled in bomb shelters, they followed the very advice Glenn Beck has been advocating: in times of crisis, seek refuge in God. In fact, according to Google Trends, two of the top five searched phrases in Israel that night involved Psalms, as Israelis chose prayer and connection to God to help them survive the attacks.
Glenn Beck has always stood beside Israel, “Standing with Israel in its fight for survival is the only path.” He rightly said, “The Jewish people [are] waking up back to their faith and turning back to God and saying 'You are our only hope.’” It is this connection to God and this commitment to becoming better, faith-filled individuals who love their neighbors that will ultimately empower the Israelis to triumph over evil.
