Pope Francis was in the news again yesterday. Have you noticed the Media has a very conditional love for Pope Francis? He's popular-Pope when he's sounding the alarm on climate change. Like the urgency he showed in June, when he told a gathering of oil company executives that, "There is no time to lose" in saving the planet from climate change. The media jumped at the chance to contrast the Pope's urgency with what they view as President Trump's shameful environmental hostility.
The Media loves climate-change-superhero-Pope. But anti-abortion Pope? Yeah, strangely, not as popular.
Yesterday, during his weekly general audience address in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis discussed abortion and asked:
How can an act that suppresses innocent and defenseless budding human life be therapeutic, civil or simply human?
Is it right to hire a hitman to solve a problem? One cannot do this, it is not right to do away with a human being, albeit small, to solve a problem.
Gasp! Pope Francis compared abortion providers to hitmen – which would make Planned Parenthood some kind of hitman chain store.
In June, Pope Francis condemned the growing trend of aborting babies with conditions or deformities. He compared it to the Nazi policy of weeding out undesirables through sterilization and execution. Comparisons to hitmen and Nazis? How dare he stoop to such hyperbole! The Left would never use such a tactic. Remember, they're all about civility. Why can't the Pope just get back to climate change, which is obviously a much greater threat to human life than abortion?

Perhaps Pope Francis feels added urgency to speak out against abortion since his home country, Argentina, recently barely avoided legalizing abortion. And just last month, Ireland, another majority Catholic nation, changed its law to allow abortion.
From dealing with the Catholic Church's child abuse crisis, to making compromising deals with China, Pope Francis has had some very bad recent months. At least he seems to have some integrity left when it comes to protecting life.
