Glenn's audience is rallying around the victims of the devestating Maui wildfires.

The wildfire that raged across Maui became the deadliest fire in US history, claiming more than 100 lives as search-and-rescue missions continue throughout the burnt remains of the historic town, Lahaina. In times of profound tragedy, Genn's audience has rallied around those enduring profound need and suffering through generous giving. On-air this week, Glenn rallied the troops again to support the grieving communities in Maui, challenging his audience to raise more money than the US government's aid package.

As of 8:52 p.m. on August 16th, YOU, Glenn's audience, have raised $472,824.25 for the people of Maui via Glenn's non-profit, Mercury One (M1). That's nearly HALF A MILLION DOLLARS raised within the first day of Glenn's call-to-action to match the government's aid package, which has been raised to $2.3 million through FEMA. That means Glenn's audience has raised ONE-FIFTH of the entire FEMA package this week alone.

Unlike the slow pace of government aid, your donation is being used NOW by M1 and their incredible partners, which includes Operation BBQ Relief, Samaritan's Purse, Operation Blessing, ITDRC, and Harvest Church, which is pastored by Greg Laurie in California and has a sister Church in Maui.

The supplies on that DC-8 cargo aircraft include hygiene kits, solar lights, cooking kits, plastic tarp, and equipment needed for us to help in the aftermath of this disaster. As residents are allowed to return to their communities, Samaritan’s Purse volunteers will help homeowners sift through the ashes for any sentimental keepsakes that may have survived the flames. The Mercury One staff stepped up.

Shortly after Glenn announced the fundraiser on-air, Mercury One suffered an online hacking incident. However, due to the incredible efforts of their staff, the site is back up and running at full capacity with no damage to the fundraiser. As JP Decker, executive director for Mercury One, assures:

The attack on our website did not make us weaker but instead made us stronger. Our M1 staff is a family that is small but mighty, and when this happened, every single staff member stepped in and started to plan for answering phones etc., ready to take donations. When you give to Mercury One, it enables Mercury One to have the means to respond quickly when a crisis occurs.
