Faith under attack

Last night on GBTV, Glenn discussed some of the major ways that faith has come under attack from the administration – specifically a letter read in Catholic churches over the weekend that discussed the Obama administrations attempts to legislate pro-abortion language into all healthcare plans.

You can watch the video below:

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Glenn invited several faith leaders including Robert Morris, Bill Donahue, and Rabbi Daniel Lapin to discuss these issues:

The commandment is very clear: You shall not kill.

Deliberate, premeditated murder such as those who say ‘weed the garden’ and discuss the ethical killing of people with disabilities is premeditation in the truest sense of the word. This kind of thinking and philosophy is reprehensable and people need to stand up for what is right, true and honorable.

Anyone recall a few months back an article on the Blaze; where soucres were sighted that supposed geneticists identified ‘conservatism’ as a genetic disability?

Guess what then, in accordance to the idiots who came up with the philosophy of killing someone who has disabilities; someone can take this to include ‘political disabilities’ and begin liquidation of the masses.

    • Michael Langford

Thou shalt not kill seems to only be clear when your not talking about the poor or the brown. America kills 10’s of thousands of people around the world. And then they throw parades for the killers. That’s just not very christian of you.

  • Mark Winkelman

In the Bible…to “gird up your loins” means to prepare for battle (look to history for reason) and so how do we fight the battle? With the truth of God’s Word – The Sword of the Spirit! Genesis to Revelation, and specifically THE Word, Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life and the only way to heaven. God tells us this world is sin-filled and thus evil, he warns us about the times growing worse before His return, but He does promise to hold onto us and no matter what the world does to us we have life in Him.

    • Anonymous

Right on Mark!  on all points and I do get your reason for “gird up your loins!” Kinda hilarious when you think of it but I’m sure that when one (or a dozen) of Joshua’s warriors “girded up his loins” EVERY enemy of God’s people were in trouble. God grant that it may be so again in the USA. Where else could it possibly happen.  ISRAEL!!! YESSSSS! Shalom Brother.

This belief, or rather, this faith on a coming holy war predicted by the Apocalypse is something very disturbing. It seems those who claim will be in the side of God and Christ against Satan and the Antichrist are very quick to say who will be judged on the opposite side. Like Glenn, they have quick trigger on judging others. Also, they seem to want it to come so bad, that it also seems they actually want war, punishment for other’s sins. That, to me, seems rather wicked. To want war, to want punishment, to want death, violence and to believe who deserves hell and who doesn’t. If my memory serves me, that is considered sinful. But I don’t judge no one to hell.

I wonder, have you ever considered to be a metaphor of sorts. That maybe when they say Antichrist they don’t mean the son of Satan, but maybe a time when Christ’s teaching would become obsolete? (here come the accusations of me being on the side of evil in Armageddon).

Faith, in my opinion, should be attacked. If a religion cannot withstand criticism, if it cannot prove it serves its Godly purpose of forgiveness, love, compassion, collaboration, of social cohesion, then that religion must be scrapped. If you ask someone to have faith in things you can’t prove, one would only have faith in them if it can be proven that we, as a human race, are better off with such belief than without it. Religion is not science fiction. It’s not supposed to be that crazy story you have to believe because if you don’t you go to hell. That’s just dangerous reductionism. Faith and religion has meaning only when it serves its own determined purpose.

And this Armageddon thing, at least to me, seems to be taken way too literal. That it is used by people like Glenn to divide us and serve the contrary purpose of religion and faith. He makes a living. Sure. OK. But he also exploits people’s faith to fulfill his earthly desires of wealth, power and fame. If you don’t find that troubling then I would suggest you really carefully think what exactly are you putting your faith in. Does your faith take you to the conclusion you’d be just OK with thinking more than half the world is your mortal enemy. That even your neighbor is a potential Satan worshiper, you know, given the coming of the Apocalypse. If so, then geez, are you sure you are so holy as to determine that?

    • Anonymous

antichrist refers to one who says he is christ and has the same nationality where he can manipulate and decieve the jews who are looking for the messiah to come.  Armageddon to the best of my knowledge is a valley/nountain in the middle east. faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.  Jesus came out and spoke against the religious of that time…which were phariasess and saducees (sp).  In the end times brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers will turn on each other for they will be decieved from the antichrist.  Every one will be judged.  Our actions will be judged, we will be accountable for everything we speak and do.  But those who ask Jesus for forgivence we are saved by grace.  as the time grows near more and more christian will be attacked for what they stand for and that is truth.  For a lie to take hold it has to overcome truth.  but in the end truth will prevail.  as we speak in africa christians are being killed, churches are being bombed by muslims. who are directed by the koran.  Yes faith is being attacked and yes we forgive and we show love but that doesnt mean christians are a doormat.

      • Anonymous

See. There you go. In your version of the story Jews are fools and Muslims are the enemy. Nice. Christians are the victimized defenders of truth. Sure. The end of times. Do you know when? Sorry. Do you know when, approximately? Because if you are right, and the end is near. What do we invest in? What for?

Tell me. In your version, are Muslims not being attacked for their faith. Or Jews. Or Tibetans? I ask because this Christian monopoly on the end of the world seems rather convenient for people alive today. For politicians. Seems rather fishy. More than a prophecy of truth, the end of times is used more and more as an excuse to gather followers. And, oh boy, is Glenn cashing in.

This is stupid.  Faith is a personal attribute and cannot be attacked.

    • landofaahs

People can be attacked because of their faith though.  Liberalism is a personal attribute also, can we then assume it can’t be under attack either?

      • Anonymous

The heading says “faith under attack”, not people.

        • landofaahs

A distinction without a difference. They go after people of faith, because of their faith.

          • Anonymous

No difference between a person and their faith?  really?  Liberalism is an idea, a mental construct, there is nothing to attack.

          • landofaahs

Yes there is, but not so seemigly accing to liberals. If you disagree with a liberal, then you are painted a bigot or racist. That makes it personal when you attack a person because of their faith. But no matter, I can take all the verbal barbs they can throw at me. If it starts to get physical well that is a personal matter. But have you ever seen people attacker for their faith and it was not an attack at that person? Frankly, those type of people need an -ss whoppin.

    • Megan Jeffery

The administration is attacking faith based insurance, hospitals, doctors, nurses, and so on. Forcing a Catholic Hospital and/or insurance to provide and pay for abortions, birth control, sterilizations, and so on, goes directly against the Catholic faith. Why is everyone so anxious to keep the church out of State, when the true intention of the amendment was the keep the STATE OUT OF CHURCH. Ever hear of freedom of religion? Why are Catholics no longer free to practice our religion? Why, when we provide food and care for the poor through these institutions, are we being persecuted? Because the administration wants control. Over our money, our faith, our choices, and our lives.

  • Jeanine Wisner

Glen, the “gird up your loins with truth”…qutoted from Ephesians 6:14.  It refers to the garment belt that would be worn when preparing for battle.  Men would take their robes and tuck it in a belt for ease of movement during battle (to keep them from tripping or getting caught up in their clothing).

In essence we are being told to gird up (grab hold of – stand firm on) to the truth of God’s word.  I usually do not comment on scriptural issues because most have their oppinions of things refering to ‘religion’.  In this case, it is necessary that we (Christians) hold fast to God’s word & stand firm on the freedoms He provided this country.

Also, FOX NEWS is reporting on this – THANK GOD!!!!
Thank you for being bold and speaking out things the general media does not!
Please consider visiting Michigan – we’d love to see you Glenn!!!!
    Be blessed broth’a.

  • Dan Donehey

From 1981 to 1990 I was the PR Director for National Right to Life.  After that I produced numerous pro-life films including the documentary “Reversing Roe:  The Norma McCorvey Story” about the Jane Roe of the 1973 Roe v. Wade US Supreme Court abortion ruling.  In every battle over the sanctity for human life there is always the argument against it that roots (pun intended) itself in the framework that promotes survival of the fittest.  The strong over the weak and defenseless.  The moral relativism used by these folks has been around forever and needs constant checking by those who embrace truths we hold dear, the primary one of course, that we are all created equal.  Let the debate about who created us rage one (as it surely will) but let’s not give an inch of ground when it comes to the taking of innocent human life.  History will undoubtedly mark this time as a national pivot point where we give all we have to anchor our collective moral compass to value life or we loosen our grip via indifference and laziness hastening the moral demise of America down the slippery slope that cheapens life.

    • Anonymous

How so? By saying they may continue to refuse contraception if they wish?

      • Anonymous

It’s not about that. It’s about the employers rights. They should not have to provide insurance plans that include abortion inducing drugs or contraception.

Why should they have to provide something against their faith?

        • Anonymous

Presumably, no employee of the Catholic church is going to take advantage of this option. People who believe this is a real issue need a reality check.

          • Anonymous

You still don’t get it.  Who is providing this option?  They are asking the Catholic church to hand out contraceptives and walk patients to the abortion room.

          • Anonymous

I think he gets it now. He couldn’t respond.

          • Anonymous

Sorry. I was eating dinner with my family. No, the Catholic church does NOT have to hand out contraceptives, NOR walk patients to the abortion room. Those are simply lies. Did you make them up or did you read (or hear) them somewhere?

          • Anonymous

.  Forcing, I’ll repeat, forcing Catholic employers to offer coverage that includes
sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception is the same as handing them out or walking them to the abortion room.  In business terms, The Catholic church is in the business to grow and expand.  Aborting and using birth control is not good business and its also against our religious beliefs.  What is the administration really accomplishing by asking the Catholic supporters to provide these services?  I did read that a new law will Force, I’ll repeat, force the Amish to use electricity.  This will certainly make me feel better knowing that I am infringing on there beliefs even though it accomplishes nothing.  This mandate on the catholic faith accomplishes nothing.   Its an interference of the Church’s conscious.

          • Anonymous

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information. It has been illegal to use federal funds for abortions since 1976. The ACA prohibits the use of federal funds for that purpose.

          • Michael Langford

I read that a giant spagetti monster in the sky is the real god. And its backed up by a dozen sources. You really shouldn’t believe everything you read. There is an agenda behind this whole topic. You are but a pawn.

          • Anonymous

Reality check?? This is a systematic process: Step 1, Step 2 . . .  Anyone remember when the argument was that we needed no State defense for marriage between only a man and woman because there were no marriages other than a man and woman?  How about when the overwhelming majority (over 70%) voted to define it within their own state?  Now it has been put to a vote numerous times within each state — even though it had already been defined — and the percentages continue to go down.

Resistance becomes acceptance over time and THAT is the issue.  We have given up more and more of our freedoms to be “safe” when we only have the illusion of safety.  How many more of our freedoms will we give up because we are told it’s not really a threat because we won’t need it anyway??

Look who needs a Reality Check. . .

          • Anonymous

Why is it wrong for the government to allow Americans to have health care options (which they can accept or decline), but OK for you to force your religious beliefs on everyone — including those of different faiths? Freedom of religion means you have no right to force your beliefs on me, nor I on you.

          • Anonymous

You’re either extremely obtuse or you work in the Soetoro administration.

          • David Cooney

Here is a reality check for you. There are many non-Catholic employees of the Catholic Church. This legislation would force the Church institutions to not only provide coverage for contraception and abortifacients, it would also require them to pay for it.

Additionally, even though it is well known that many many Catholics ignore the Church’s teaching on this issue, that is no justification for forcing the institutions who choose to follow the teachings of the Church to violate those teachings in order to help unfaithful Catholics to also violate those teachings. THIS is what is at issue here.

What happened to the separation of church and state ?

          • Anonymous

Sorry in advance if I insult you in anyway but, I can not let a good chance just pass me by:

Where does that statement appear in the Constitution?    Look up Supreme Court decision, 1947;   the year that marked the beginning of the end of religious freedom as we knew it.

            Here’s a history lesson:
You won’t find “separation of church and state” anywhere, in any original document.   It’s time we did away with that false phrase so enamored by the left.

The First Amendment makes no law respecting an established religion or prohibits the free exercise thereof.    That concerns the government.  We the people may, any where; anytime practice our faith…….until 1947.   That’s when the SC, took a metaphor from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to a group of Baptist ministers in Conn. and applied it in a manner exactly opposite to its intended purpose.

It was truly re-defined in 1962.  Look up Engel v. Vitale.

          • Anonymous

        • Anonymous

Don’t you read the newspaper? The Supreme Court ruled Jan. 11 that churches are exempt from employee discrimination laws under the “ministerial exception.” The Catholic church does not have to hire people who’s faith beliefs are different from its own. If the Catholic church is that averse to providing contraception, it can simply choose to hire non-Catholics. Nobody is forcing the church to provide those services and devices, nor is there any possibility that federal funds will be used for abortions (it has been illegal for nearly 40 years).

There is no pro-abortion effort by the current administration. This kind of prevarication is the reason Mr. Beck is no longer on the mainstream TV airwaves and, quite possibly, could turn off true conservatives and moderates. The ACA requires insurance companies to provide contraception coverage for patients who want birth control. It does not force contraception on anyone. Find a REAL issue.

      Liberal logic:

Since there are wars that we don’t agree with, we should be allowed to strip away religious beliefs.

  • Anonymous

And “as we speak” innocent Muslims in the Middle East are being killed in the name of Christianity. People abuse and pervert our Christian faith to their own evil purposes just as extremist Muslims pervert Islam.

    • Anonymous

No. They’re being killed in the name of Israel.
But the muslims aren’t all that innocent either.

  • Anonymous

Typical conservative logic: Since there are religious beliefs different from our own, we can kill. As I said elsewhere, there is no “stripping away” of religious beliefs. Nobody is being forced to use contraception.

    • Anonymous

No. They’re just forced to provide it. You don’t see that as a problem for a Catholic?

Stop acting like the Catholic Church is at war in the middle east. It’s the U.S. government. There are plenty of Catholics against the wars. I’m one of them.

  • Anonymous

You paint with a pretty broad brush. “The Muslims aren’t all that innocent either.” Using your logic, all Christians are also guilty of murder because of Eric Rudolph or Tim McVeigh.

    • Anonymous

A little different. McVeigh wasn’t backed and hidden by foreign nations. McVeigh wasn’t supported by Iran.

So do you believe the government has no right to dictate whether Christians may kill? Christians can just ignore the law, because of your warped interpretation of the establishment and free-exercise clauses? Again: Nobody is being forced to use contraception.

    • Anonymous

You are forcing Christians to provide a service that is against their beliefs. How do you not see that as a problem?

Trying to explain the logic: The government may start wars, even though it is against my faith and conscience. The government may require minimum standards for health insurance providers, even though it is against yours. Again: Nobody is going to use it.

    • Anonymous

Do you think that Catholics only employ Catholics?

No one is telling you to go against your morals. If you feel that strongly about your tax money going to the war, then you can choose not to pay taxes. You can also choose to fight against the war. You may be jailed for not paying taxes, but that’s your choice.

      • Anonymous

And the Catholic church can choose to not employ anyone or disobey the law and not provide insurance. That’s their choice. Those are about as realistic as me disobeying the law (which the Bible tells me to obey). Y’all are making a mountain out of nothing, I suspect because 1) your partisan politics has blinded you to common sense or 2) you are buying a bill of goods someone is selling. BTW, if the church feels that strongly about the contraception issue, why do they employ people who *gasp* choose to practice responsible sex?

        • Anonymous

The Catholic Church CAN NOT choose to employ or not employ people who might use contraception and abortion. Are you serious?

The Church can employ people who practice contraception and abortion. But, the Church WILL NOT offer health insurance that PAYS FOR contraception and abortion.

I do not believe any government or anyone’s faith should dictate to a woman whether she should have an abortion or not…this would take away her freedom and it should be between the woman and God..we all must answer to God for “OUR SINS.”

President Obama offered his thoughts on the Roe vs. Wade anniversary:

As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.  I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.  While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue- no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant woman and mothers, reduce the need for abortion, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.  And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.

“We must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies”?
    “remember historic anniversary”?
    “continue our efforts”?

He, cleverly misuses the words with “rights”, “freedoms”, “choose”, “protects”, “reproductive freedom”

Don’t anyone claim this administration is NOT pro-abortion.

    How about this version instead:

As we pridefully, glee at the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court indecision not only enforces a child’s death and reproductive slavery, but also destroys a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.  I remain happy to to enforce a woman’s decision to choose abortion and this misinterpreted constitutional decision.  While this is a happy but often divisive killing- ignoring God and Country, we must toil in our determination to prevent loving children, mismanage pregnant woman and mothers, blindly enforce the imagined need for abortion, encourage unhealthy relationships and close Catholic adoption agencies. As as we celebrate this self-congratulatory anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our unborn daughters have the same lack of rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our unborn sons to unfulfill their undreamt dreams.

The mandate says, “Most religious organizations. . . “, and that there are four narrow exemptions.  That means some religions are exempt.  Which ones???  From the research I’ve done it looks like Christian Scientist, the Amish and Muslims since these groups don’t believe in insurance.  However, if you look at job ads for positions at Muslim schools, they offer their employees full benefits packages.  So I’m curious whether or not Muslims are exempt from this mandate??

    • David Cooney

I don’t think that any religions are exempt. Only religious organizations (meaning institutions or businesses). Those which exist primarily to teach their own faith (as opposed to helping those in need or providing some other service), AND which primarily employ only members of their own faith (as opposed to generally employing anybody and only restricting employment for certain positions – such as theology or religion teachers – to members of the same faith), AND which primarily provide their service only to members of their own faith.

Actually, I don’t think that even most Churches would qualify for this. I’ve been to services at many churches and have never seen them check those walking in for membership cards. If a particular church cannot verify that those in attendance are actually members of the same faith, would they still qualify for the exemption??? Can we (will we be allowed to) just make the assumption that this is the case???

Contraception is not “pro abortion language”. Widespread contraception use reduces the number of abortions.

    • Anonymous

The Lie of Contraception was to stop The Lie of Abortion. Both Lies. Both failed.

    • David Cooney

It only reduces the number of “medial” abortion procedures – not the number of abortions.

Nearly every “contraceptive” out there is also an abortifacient. The reason for this is that, without the abortifacient property, the dosage to actually contracept has to be so high that there are severe side-effects. The way they get away with this, by the way, is that “pregnancy” is defined by the medical community as the successful implantation of the embryo in the uterus. Therefore, by including abortifacient hormones which prevent implantation of the embryo in the uterus, they can claim that they have prevented “pregnancy.” Too many Christians who believe that life begins at conception have been fooled by this lie into thinking that the contraceptives they take mean that they are avoiding abortions. If you think I’m wrong, read the medical information packet that comes with “the pill.”

The same is true for the “morning-after pill.” It only prevents conception if the woman has not already ovulated by preventing her from ovulating. If she has, it prevents pregnancy (according to the medical definition) by preventing implantation if conception occurs.

      • Anonymous

So the use of condoms, which prevents implantation, would not be an “abortion” under your definition. Correct? Why do you use the moment of conception as the definition of “life”? Can you show me scripture? Because I recall a passage that says God knew you before you were conceived. In this case, then, male masterbation is the equivalent of abortion. Bottom line: The Catholic church has no right to invade the privacy of its non-Catholic employees’ bedrooms. If it feels that strongly, it should hire only those who refuse to utilize the contraception benefit of its insurance.

  • TylerDurden

The majority of Catholics in America either use or support the use of contraceptives. It looks like the Catholic Church is going against the beliefs of their members.

    • Anonymous

Christ’s Church is not a product of popular opinion. It is Deceived members who stubbornly defy Church teaching and embrace the Lie of Contraception.

    • David Cooney

Sorry, you’ve got it backwards. The Catholic Church has never determined its beliefs by the opinions of its members. Those Catholics who use or support the use of contraceptives have abandoned at least part of the Catholic faith. The extent to which they have abandoned the Catholic faith is the extent to which they do not represent Catholic belief. In the Catholic Church ALL doctrines MUST be accepted by ALL Catholics. Period. As bishop Bruskewitz (spelling?) once said, “The difference between a dissenting Catholic and a Protestant is that the Protestant has more integrity.”

  • David Cooney

It amazes me every time I see another “conservative” who wants to limit a woman’s liberty with her own body and bring the government into the bedroom. Her decision is between her and God. You should have no part of it.

           Mr. Beck,
You said you didnt understand about the “gird your loins, with the belt of truth”, and if I may; this is my understanding of that verse.
When I was taught to fight, I was told there is no rules. So the quick way to take out your enemy is to kick him in his “jewels”, and fight over.
So our ememy is satan, and how he attacks us with is first; lies. If you have the helmet of salvation on, he, satan, cant get to you thrugh your head, so he will then go after the family jewels. Your loins are used (as god intended) to produce a family from. Your seed.
He, satan, will then go after your family to get to you. Girding up your loins with the belt of truth is basicaly walking in Christian truth, teaching your family that truth, (“raise your child in the way he should go”) and being a man of integrity requires you not be a liar.
Satan cannot use a lie against you if you walk in truth.
So Mr. Beck, remember to tell the truth, and it will MAKE you free fom a low kick from the adversary!!!

    Tim 2:8 (NIV) Remember Jesus
    from the
descended from David. This is my gospel.

gospel is a message. It is also referred to in Scripture as a
“word”, a “doctrine”, a “seed”, the
“good news”, “the truth”. Because God uses the
message of the gospel to reconcile men to himself, it must be
taught, heard, understood, believed, confessed and defended.

Message is That Jesus is The Christ, that He Was Crucified, and Rose

    1 Cor 15:1-4
(NIV) Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the
I preached to you, which you have received and on which you have
taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to
the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For
what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that
for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried,
    that he was
on the third day according to the Scriptures.

    Message Must Be Taught

    Rom 10:14
(NIV) How, then, can they call on one they have not believed in? And
how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how
can they hear without someone preaching to them?

    Message Must Be Heard

    Rom 10:17
(NIV) Consequently, faith comes from hearing
    the message,
and the message is heard through the
    of Christ.

    Message Must Be Understood

    Mat 13:17-23
(Phi) “Believe me, a great many prophets and good men have
longed to see what you are seeing, and they never saw it. Yes, and
they longed to hear what you are hearing, and they never heard it.
Now listen to the parable of the sower. When a man hears the
of the kingdom, and does not grasp it, the evil one comes and
snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is like
    the seed
sown by the roadside. The seed sown on the stony patches represents
the man who hears the message and eagerly accepts it. But it has not
taken root in him and does not last long–the moment trouble or
persecution arises through the message, he gives up his faith at
once. The seed sown among the thorns represents the man who hears the
message, and then worries of this life and the illusions of wealth
choke it to death and so it produces no ‘crop’ in his life. But the
seed sown on good soil is the man who both hears and understands the

    Message Must Be Believed

    Heb 4:2 (Phi)
For we too have had a gospel preached to us, as those men had. Yet
proclaimed to them did them no good, because they only heard and did
    not believe as well.

    Message Must Be Confessed

    Rom 10:8-9
(NIV) But what does it say? “The
is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is,
    the word
of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth,
    “Jesus is Lord,”
and believe in your heart that God raised
from the dead, you will be saved.

Message Is Foolishness To Some, Good News To Others

    1 Cor
    1:18,21-23 (NIV) For the
    of the cross
is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God… For since in the wisdom of God the
world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through
the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews
demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach
a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

    1 Cor 2:2
(Phi) …It was my determination to concentrate entirely on Jesus
and the fact of his death
    upon the cross.

Message Is True, and It Works

    Col 1:5-6
(Phi) …that hope that first became yours when you heard the
    message of truth.
    This is the
itself, which has reached you as it spreads out all over the world.
Wherever that gospel goes, it produces Christian character, and
develops it, as it has done in your own case from the time you first
    heard and realized the
    of God’s grace. (1 Thes 2:13)

Message Was a Secret, But it is Now Fully Revealed

    Col 1:25-26
    (Phi) …that I might fully declare God’s Word–that
sacred mystery which up till now has been hidden in every age and
every generation, but which is now as clear as daylight to those who
    love God.

    2 Cor
4:2-4,18 (Phi) …We speak the plain truth
and so commend ourselves to every mans conscience in the sight of
God. If our gospel is “veiled”, the veil must be in the
minds of those who are spiritually dying. The god of this world has
blinded the minds of those who do not believe, and prevents the light
of the glorious gospel of Christ, the image of God, from shining on
them… For we are looking all the time not at the visible things but
    at the invisible.
The visible things are transitory: it is the invisible things that
    are permanent.

Message Is Valuable, and Vulnerable; It Must Be Guarded

the gospel is an invisible message,
it is thus vulnerable to attack. Jesus labeled Satan the “father
of lies” (John 8:44-45,47). Satan’s agents are “wolves in
sheep’s clothing” (Mat 7:15,22-23). Satan’s efforts are to
“infect” the gospel with lies (Act 13:9-10). Much of the
New Testament is written to instruct and encourage us to protect the
    (Eph 4:14-15).

    Heb 2:1-3
(Phi) We ought, therefore, to pay the greatest attention to
    the truth
that we have heard and not allow ourselves to drift away from it. For
    if the
given through angels proved authentic, so that defiance of it and
disobedience to it received appropriate retribution, how shall we
escape if we refuse to pay proper attention to that greater salvation
which is offered us? For this salvation came first through
    the words
    of the Lord himself.

    Mark 13:22-24
(NIV) “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and
perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect–if that were
possible. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of

    2 Tim 1:13-14
(NIV) What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of
    sound teaching,
with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good
that was entrusted to you–guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit
    who lives in us.

    2 Cor 10:3-7
(NIV) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the
world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the
world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish
    strongholds. We demolish arguments
    and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive
every thought to make it obedient to Christ… You are looking only
    on the surface of things…

Words About The Danger Of Corrupting The Message

    1 Tim
4:1-3,6-7 (Phi) God’s Spirit specifically tells us that in later days
there will be men who abandon the
    true faith
and allow themselves to be spiritually seduced by teachings of
demons, teachings given by men who are lying hypocrites, whose
consciences are as dead as seared flesh… You will be a faithful
minister of Christ Jesus if you remind your church members of these
things. You will show yourself as a man nourished by the message of
the true faith and the sound
he has followed. But steer clear of all these heathen old wives’

    Gal 1:6-9
(Phi) I am amazed that you have so quickly transferred your
allegiance from him who called you by the grace of Christ to another
“gospel”! Not that it is another gospel, but there are men
who are upsetting your faith with a travesty of the gospel of Christ.
Yet I say that if I, or an angel from Heaven, were to preach to you
any other gospel than the one you have already heard, may he be
damned! You have heard me say it before and now I say it again–may
anybody who preaches any other gospel than the one you have already
    heard be a damned soul!

Teachers Either: 1) Add-To Or Modify The Message, or 2) Are

    Gal 3:1-5
(Phi) O you dear idiots of Galatia, who saw Jesus Christ the
crucified so plainly, who has been casting a spell over you? I will
ask you one simple question: did you receive the Spirit by trying to
keep the Law or by believing
    the message
of the gospel? Surely you can’t be so stupid as to think that you
begin your spiritual life in the Spirit and then complete it by
reverting to physical observances? Has all your painful experience
brought you nowhere? I simply cannot believe it! Does God, who gives
you his Spirit and works miracles among you, do these things because
you have obeyed the Law or because you have believed
    the gospel?

    Gal 2:4-5
(Phi) In fact, the suggestion would have never arisen but for the
presence of some pseudo-Christians, who wormed their way into our
meeting to spy on the liberty we enjoy in Christ Jesus, and then
attempted to tie us up with rules and regulations. We did not give in
to them for a moment, for the
of the gospel for you and all the gentiles was at stake. (Gal 5:1-10)

    Gal 2:21
(Phi) I refuse to make nonsense of the grace of God. For if
righteousness were possible under the Law then Christ
    for nothing.

    Rom 1:16-17
(NIV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it
the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first
for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness
from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to
last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

The “Antichrist” in Scripture is Any Minister Who Denies
    Jesus as The Christ

    1 Jn 2:18-22
(Phi) …You have heard of the coming of antichrist. Believe me,
there are antichrists about already, which confirms my belief that we
are near the last hour. These men went out from our company, it is
true, but they never really belonged to it. If they had really
belonged to us they would have stayed. In fact, their going proves
beyond doubt that men like that were not “our men” at all.

    1 Jn 4:1-3
(NIV) Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have
gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of
God: Every Spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ
has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not
acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the
antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in
    the world.

    Terminology and The Undiscerned Infection…

has used the term “Antichrist” to refer to what Scripture
refers to as “the Beast”, and Christians have picked this
up. The shoe fits, and we all know who is being referred to when the
term “Antichrist” is used: “the Beast” of
Scripture. But by misunderstanding the biblical meaning of
antichrist, we may miss the important point that the enemy is within
    our camp.

    2 Cor
11:13-15 (Phi) “God’s messengers?” They are counterfeits of
the real thing, dishonest practitioners masquerading as the
    messengers of
Christ. Nor do their tactics surprise me when I consider how Satan
himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is only to be expected
that his agents shall have the appearance of ministers
of righteousness–but they will get what they deserve in the end.

    The Motive, And The Result

    2 Pet 2:1-3
(NIV) But there were false prophets among the people, just as there
will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce
destructive heresies… Many will follow their shameful ways and
    bring the
    way of truth
into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with
    stories they have made up.

    1 Tim 6:3-5
(Phi) This is the sort of thing you should teach and preach, and if
anyone tries to teach some doctrinal novelty and does not follow
(which we base on our Lord Jesus Christ’s own words
and which leads to Christlike living), then he is a conceited idiot!
His mind is a morbid jungle of disputation and argument, things which
lead to nothing but jealousy, quarreling, insults, and malicious
innuendoes–continual wrangling, in fact, among men of warped minds
who have lost their real hold on the
but hope to make some profit out of the Christian religion.

    Causes Division?

    Rom 16:17-18
(NIV) I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause
divisions and who put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the
teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are
    not serving our Lord Christ,
but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the
    minds of naive people.

    Jude 1:19
(NIV) These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural
instincts and do not have the Spirit.

    Jude 1:16-19
(Phi) These are the men who complain and curse their fate while
trying all the time to mold life according to their own desires. They
“talk big” and pay men great respect if it is to their own
advantage. Now do remember, dear friends, the words that the
messengers of Jesus Christ gave us beforehand when they said “there
will come in the last days mockers who live according to their own
    godless desires.” These
    are the men
who split communities, for they are led by human emotions and never
    by the Spirit of God.

    Are we
“causing division” to rebuke false teachers; or are we
    obeying God?

    Titus 3:10-11
(NIV) Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time.
After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a
man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

    1 Tim 1:3-4
    (NIV) …command certain
not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to
    myths and endless genealogies. These
promote controversies rather than God’s work–which is by faith.

    The Body
of Christ, functioning properly, should be excising these false
teachings and standing against the “wolves” (Titus 1:9).
But somehow Satan has duped us into believing that if we obey God’s
    instructions, we
    are the ones
“causing division”, instead of the false prophets and
teachers (wolves) we are commanded to rebuke (Titus 1:11-2:1). Satan
has attacked the church’s “immune system”, and we accept
the wolves, who take advantage of the flock, in as “brothers”
    (2 Jn 7-11).

    2 Thes 2:10
(NIV) …They perish because they refuse to love the
and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion
so that they will believe the

Christian living. For their teachings are as dangerous as

endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the
duties of your ministry. (Titus 2:15a)

we have passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

(NIV) Test everything. Hold onto the good.

    Acts 17:11
(NIV) Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the
    Thessalonians, for they received
    the message
with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if
    what Paul said was true.

    1 Tim 4:11,16
(NIV) Command and teach these things… Watch your life and doctrine
closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both
    yourself and your hearers.

Role of The Holy Spirit in The Discernment of False Teaching

only some believers have the special spiritual gift of discernment,
all believers have the ability by “the Spirit of Truth” to
detect a false gospel. This is not dependent on knowledge or
intelligence, it is a basic “smell test” of anyone who has
    received the Holy Spirit.

    God has
not promised us that He will tell us who to marry, what to do next,
etc., although He may. But He has promised that He will always
allow us to detect lies that would lead us astray. If we have really
received the Holy Spirit, He will teach us which teachers are false
and true, and this will be confirmed by others. Are we listening to
    the Spirit of Truth?

    1 Jn 2:20-27
(NIV) But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you
    know the
I do not write to you because you do not know the
but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.
See that what you have heard in
    the beginning
remains in you… I am writing these things to you about those who
are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received
from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But
as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing
is real, not counterfeit–just as it has taught you, remain in him.

    John 16:13
(Phi) “Yet when that one I have spoken about comes–the Spirit
    of truth–he
will guide you into everything that is true.”

    John 5:24
(NIV) “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my
and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be
condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

    John 8:31-32
(NIV) …Jesus said, “If you hold to my
you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the
    will set you free.”

    Luke 24:45-47
(NIV) Then he opened their minds so they could understand the
Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ
    will suffer
from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of
sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at

    Mark 16:15-16
(NIV) He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the
    good news
to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but
whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

    John 3:16
(KJV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
    have everlasting life.”

    Col 1:23
(Phi) This reconciliation assumes that you maintain a firm position
in the faith, and do not allow yourselves to be shifted away from the
hope of the gospel, which you have heard…
