If someone had said to me that
agents and local law enforcement would be seizing a person because of a
statement on facebook I would have laughed and said “ don’t worry” that will
never happen”.

The oath of office dictates we
swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States. That’s generally the
first sentence in most any oath. I believe Glenn is right, this was a test, but
what about the agents and the officers?  

It is the duty of any officer or
federal agent to uphold the constitution which means you may refuse to obey
unconstitutional orders. It’s perfectly legal, and encouraged, and protected
under law.

Why did they do it ?

If the onion gets peeled, there by G-D better be some
inference that this guy was acting nuts and people close to him contacted Law
enforcement. If not, folks we are in trouble.

I remember my oath of office. I remember when I rediscovered
a love for my country when I studied Constitutional law. I have never been so
proud as to think myself a guardian of liberty. We are a nation of laws that
ensures an orderly functioning society.

Law correcting behavior may only be ratified when there is a
compelling need to do so for the protection of the majority.

This event is a major blow to people like me who constantly

get through this together”. What am I supposed to tell these people now ?

I pray to G-D punish those who are guilty, ratify those who

I refused to be screened for PTSD, even though I probably should have and would have received care. Before this story, I was doubting whether or not I did the right thing. After this, I’m glad I was too stubborn to get help. Psychiatry is one of the biggest, most evil scams going on in the world today.

G-D given rights, then a trial should ensue. And, if convicted, they should be
incarcerated and their law enforcement rights removed. And, if the offending
agency is complicit, then they should be punished as well, according to the constitution and the existing laws.

I’ve followed this story from the beginning and I have to disagree with Glenn on this one.  I read Raub’s facebook page and I can see clearly why this guy was taken into custody.  He made serious physical threats against govt leaders and military leaders.  It wasn’t the “patriotic statements” that his supporters want everyone to think it was.  We’ve had too many shootings in the last month, including today, and the government can not take any chances on these types of people.  If you post things in public that threaten the lives of others, then you should be evaluated.  What if Timothy McVeigh had a facebook page back in April 1995?  Maybe his terrorist act that killed 168 people could have been thwarted.

It is made very clear that any ACTIVE DUTY armed services member must recognize that the President is your BOSS and directly in your chain of command.  Any threats or statements made to or about the president can be used to charge such individual under article 134 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (conduct unbecoming….).  Since this is known by all who step foot into our military, I have no pity for anyone who tries to hide behind the 1st Amendment that you actually don’t have while in the military.  Any military person can be charged by civilian courts AND military courts (JAG) and fined by both in the process.  Some feel that the freedom of speech should apply to service members but consider the fabric of the chain of command and how crucial it is to maintain that respect and discipline.  Undermining that and calling it free speech is ridiculous since you volunteered to serve and preserving the military structure if vastly more important than someone spouting off about their views.  Keep in mind you are sworn to defend that right for all Americans but you don’t necessarily live under it.  Once you separate from the military then you in all actuality become the president’s boss thus showing the vast difference between the two. 

This probably doesn’t reflect exactly the issue in this thread, but those are the facts of the matter that I and every other active duty service member lived under whether they knew it or not.  I cringe to think what our military will turn in to when future administrations try to reinvent their existence.

I miss the Corps and roll my eyes at what the modern day American has become or has been subjected to.  The Corps made sense and everything else is f’ing garbage.

This happened alot when Bush was President.  Arrests were made but since you rely so much on your TV for education you missed the majority of news that flowed through local town hall meetings and newspapers. 

I have a plan as well I don’t have some things ready yet because of my small income but I know where I will go. Thank God I do live in a rural area to begin with.

Second, good point about the need for reaction.   If people do not react, they boundaries will be pushed further in the future.   

How about getting some of these civil servants up on criminal charges for what they have done?     That seems like a good first step to preventing this type of abuse of power in the future.

Question obama wears two hats one as President the other hat commander in Chief ,it’s one thing for a person on active duty not to make comments on military matters and to follow orders to degree not to be mindless robot as some general in obama pocket are!  Our servicemen are soldiers but wear another hat they’re also U.S citizens they have a right to have different opinion & to speak out on healthcare,education,economics, energy,president respect for our rights and constitution etc. I don’t understand obama mindless robot generals not protecting soldiers freedom of speech, to have different opinions,I don’t believe our troops should have be in lockstep in all matters !!!
