On Thursday's Glenn Beck Program, Buck Sexton filled in for Glenn and was joined by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) to discuss his Marriage and Religious Freedom Act. The bill looks to restrict President Obama's ability to push churches and other nonprofit groups to recognize gay marriage via executive power.
As Sen. Lee explained, the bill would "make it impossible for the federal government to discriminate against such churches or against similarly situated organizations based on belief or action taken in conformity with the belief that marriage exists between one man and one woman." The idea is that a religious institution would not have to choose between its tax-exempt status and maintaining its religious beliefs.
Sen. Lee detailed the ins-and-outs of the legislation, in addition to sharing his thoughts about the recent controversy surrounding Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson's indefinite hiatus from A&E because of his comments about homosexuality. Check out the interview below:
