Health Insurance Will Be ‘Completely Unaffordable’ for Many Americans Next Year

What’s going on?

Ignore everything else for a moment and think about what 2018 will look like if half the country can’t afford insurance – and the Obamacare mandate is still in place.

Am I in trouble?

We all are. By 2018, premium rates will be “completely unaffordable” for many Americans, but the law will still require them to have insurance or pay a penalty.

Republicans promised to fix this. What are they doing?

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R.-La.) have been fighting for their plan to fix health care, which is known as the Graham-Cassidy bill. But the bill was declared politically dead over the weekend when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he would vote against it. Republicans can’t afford to lose more than two votes for the bill to pass in the Senate.

Glenn’s take:

“Let’s forget about all the political games for a second,” Glenn said. “If nothing gets done in the next five days, what happens?”

If you live in Wyoming, California, Florida, Texas, Georgia or another state with skyrocketing premiums, “you will expect to see a 50 percent increase in your premium for 2018,” Glenn said on radio Monday. For some states, the premium increase could be as high as 200 percent.

GLENN: Why is everybody talking about the NFL today?

There's a really simple answer to this: To get you to stop talking about health insurance that will be unaffordable for half of the country next year.

This is what's coming your way. The Senate has until the end of the week to stop this from happening. But the Graham-Cassidy hail Mary looks like it's already doomed to failure because of John McCain. Ted Cruz has already come out and said he's against it. Donald Trump is now cozying up to Rand Paul. Let's forget about all the political games for a second. If nothing gets done in the next five days, what happens? Premiums have already soared over the past couple of years. But by 2018, those rates are going to become completely unaffordable.

If you live in California, Texas, Florida, or Georgia, you will expect to see a 50 percent increase in your premium for 2018.

Can you afford that? God forbid you live in Wyoming, you have it harder. Your premiums are going up over 80 percent. Your southern neighbors, they have it even harder. Don't complain, Wyoming. At least you're not living in Colorado. Because their rates are going to hit near 200 percent higher than last year.

It's the same all over the country. In Virginia, it's 180 percent increase. In Indiana, 117. New Mexico, 84. It's on and on and on.

This is what's coming. This is why we said, when Nancy Pelosi said, "Well, you're going to have to pass it to know what's in it," we said, "Don't pass it."

The Affordable Care Act deems health insurance unaffordable if its costs exceed 8 percent of your family's income. With these premium increases, over half of the country will be forced to pay for something that -- by the government, that they cannot afford. I just want to you keep this into perspective: Two things, one, we were promised this system that is now going to put you into a situation that you cannot afford health insurance. It is this system that came from the Democrats and came from Washington. This is the system that they promised you would save you $2,500 a month, and you would be able to keep your own doctor. Did that work? The answer is no. Clearly, no.

Now, they're going to make this all about the Republicans not doing anything. But what do you think the Republicans can do with a government system that's going to make it better? Why would we look to the people who created this problem, to fix this problem?

Let me ask you this question: Do you think any of us would have flat screen TVs today, if ten years ago the government would have come up with an Affordable Flat Screen Act?

This is political theater. And the games are playing out in Washington, DC, this week. The second thing I want you to know is this: This is why those on the left and those on the right are stirring up the hatred and getting us to argue about a stupid football game.

Jason Whitlock: Raiders coach fired by NFL as a ‘SIGNAL’ to others

Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign (fired) by the NFL on Monday due to 'misogynistic' and 'homophobic' language found in several of his old, private emails. But Jason Whitlock, sports writer and host of 'Fearless' on BlazeTV, tells Glenn that Gruden's words never should have resulted in his job lost: 'We should have accepted his apology and kept it moving.' But instead, Whitlock says the NFL chose to use Gruden as a 'signal' for all other employees who may oppose the football organization's current, far-left political stances: 'Taking over sports, taking over the NFL, is crucial to the goals of the left and what they're trying to do.'

How an ‘orchestrated’ revolution is bringing America TO ITS KNEES

Victor Davis Hanson, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, joins Glenn to discuss his new book, 'The Dying Citizen.' He explains how America's hippies from the 1960s are the progressive elites running our institutions today and how their 'well orchestrated' moves have created a top-down revolution that's 'bringing us down to our knees.' So, what's the solution? Davis Hanson tells Glenn what we can do to push back against the far left today…

Who Is More Evil: Government or Facebook? | Robby Soave | Ep 120

The Left and Right agree: Social media companies like Facebook are abusing their power — whether through censorship or harmful, groupthink-creating algorithms. But is the solution really more censorship and regulation, like government fearmongers and leftist "whistleblowers" have insisted? Glenn sits down with the senior editor at Reason, Robby Soave, who has a much more refreshing solution laid out in his latest book, "Tech Panic: Why We Shouldn't Fear Facebook and the Future." Politicians have weaponized the fear we have about social media. So, maybe we should be looking at the positives. Glenn and Robby take a look at the (very familiar) history of tech panic and censorship, balance the consequences of changing Section 230, and expose the real threat to the future of free speech: Progressive tyranny entrenched in the old school media.

'HARMFUL CONTENT': How King Biden Is KILLING the Constitution

On "Glenn TV" tonight, Glenn Beck heads to the chalkboard to reveal how the fundamental transformation of America has already begun by turning the Declaration of Independence upside down.

If Donald Trump was a dictator, then what do we call President Biden? In Biden's first nine months in office, he has already issued 64 executive orders – that's more than Trump, Obama, W. Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan each issued in their entire first years in office.

You never hear the Left talk about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights any more, unless it's to "reimagine" the Constitution or slap a "harmful content" warning on our founding documents. Seriously. The National Archives said while its website label wasn't targeting the Constitution specifically, "some of the materials presented here may reflect outdated, biased, offensive, and possibly violent views and opinions." The Left finds basic, guaranteed rights so offensive they now spend all of their time on workarounds to deal with America's annoying founding documents.

Watch the full episode of "Glenn TV" below to see Glenn outline the aggressive unconstitutional abuses "King Biden" is jamming down our throats and teaches Americans how we can defend against presidential tyranny.
