According to the office of special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictment, Russia’s meddling with America goes much deeper than the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The indictment documents that Russian operatives have engaged in “information warfare against the United States of America” in order to “sow discord in the US political system” for years now.

On the show today, Glenn pieced together a series of Russian operations and plots to interfere in American politics and social justice systems, with the specific purpose of pitting Americans against Americans to cause chaos and internal discord.

“You see it on both sides, I want you to know, left and right. It’s playing directly into the hands of the people who are driving the narrative,” said Glenn. “The Mueller indictment laid everything out really clearly. The Russian operation created social media groups specifically designed for them to get us to fight one another.”

The examples Glenn details in the clip above include: documented use of social media post from Russian operatives, referred to as the ‘defendants and their co-conspirators’ throughout the indictment, to influence opinions on both sides of political, racial, religious, and other social issues. Here are a few key passages from the indictment:

After the election of Donald Trump in or around November 2016, Defendants and their co-conspirators used false U.S. personas to organize and coordinate U.S. political rallies in support of then president-elect Trump, while simultaneously using other false U.S. personas to organize and coordinate U.S. political rallies protesting the results of the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

In or around the latter half of 2016, Defendants and their co-conspirators, through their organization-controlled personas, began to encourage U.S. minority groups not to vote in the 2016 U.S. presidential election or to vote for a third-party U.S. presidential candidate.

[A] particular hype and hatred for Trump is misleading the people and forcing Blacks to vote Killary. We cannot resort to the lesser of two devils. Then we’d surely be better off without voting AT ALL.

On November 12, 2016, four day after the election, the Russian operatives organised two opposing rallies in New York City. The supporting indictment statement read:

Defendants and their co-conspirators organized a rally in New York through one organization-controlled group designed to ‘show your support for President-Elect Donald Trump’ held on or about November 12, 2016. At the same time, Defendants and their co-conspirators, through another organization-controlled group, organized a rally in New York called ‘Trump is NOT my President’ held on or about November 12, 2016.

According to a New York Times article, Facebook admitted, “that about 130 rallies were promoted by 13 of the Russian pages, which reached 126 million Americans with provocative content on race, guns, immigration and other volatile issues.”

And Mueller’s indictment mentioned:

Defendants and their co-conspirators organized a rally entitled ‘Charlotte Against Trump’ in Charlotte, North Carolina, held on or about November 19, 2016.

Most recently, Parkland High School shooting survivor-turned-gun-control activist, David Hogg, was accused of being a crisis actor by Twitter user, Laguna Beach Antifa.

But a simple geotag check revealed that the tweet came from, you guessed it, Russia.
