Poor Steven Chu - when confronted by Congressman Mike Lee over gas prices he all but admitted that the economy was in the toilet. Didn't he get the latest talking points from the Obama administration? High gas prices are GOOD for the economy! Don't think too hard about it...just repeat the propaganda...
Glenn played audio of the exchange on radio.
"Senator is asking the secretary of energy who said $8 a gallon is his goal. He then is asked do you still believe that? This is his unbelievable answer," Glenn said introducing the clip.
"Do you no longer you share the view that we need to boast gas prices in U.S.," Senator Lee asked.
"When I became secretary of energy I represented the U.S. government, and I think that right now in this ‑‑ in this economic (recovery) is very slow but ‑‑ you know return that we need to have these prices well ‑‑ could well affect the come back of our economy, and we're very worried about that. Of course we don't want the price of gasoline to go up and we want it to go down," Chu said.
"He's admitting it's a very slow recovery. He's supposed to say it's a quick recovery. He admits he has not changed his view. If you listen to the way he says it. I got a new job, and my job is to take the government's view. And my job is no longer show my personal views," Stu said.
"He's no longer towing the party line. That the comes from the party. That you have to tow the party line. The party line is to say we're in recovery and no of course not. But then excuse me Mr. Chu. What exactly are you doing to bring gas prices down," Glenn added.
Pat pointed out, "This is terrific because he's trapped by truth."
