We had a great time as a family tonight. We played a game, sat under the tree and shamed boxes to guess what was in each box. The kids didn't like that my guess was always: "a milk shake". I just turned off the tree lights as we have the big old bulbs and the tree is no longer drinking any water.
Now, The house is silent, snow is gently stacking up on the roof top, the kids are asleep, the dogs are chasing rabbits by the side of our bed and I am reading Romans in the glow of the iPad.
I am looking for "my scriptures", what does The Lord want to tell me tonight? "Read and re read. Don't memorize them, consume them. Let them fuse with your body, mind, spirit and tongue". At least that is what I think he wants to say to me. I don't know. I was never one to read the directions.
We are expecting 12 inches of snow tonight. I love it here when it snows. It is always quiet but in the snow you cannot hear anything. This is our sanctuary. Nothing around for miles and when it snows it seems like you are totally alone. In the summer because we are so far away from any cities when you look at the sky it looks like we are in space
It is what all of us need more of I think. Quiet time. To read, ponder, listen and to feel small.
Thank you for sharing a minute with me tonight before I turn my light off and turn on my cpap machine.
From the snow capped mountains far out in the west, goodnight America.
