DETAILS: Glenn to kick off “We are all Catholics now” movement

For the past few weeks Glenn has been focused on raising awareness on the persecution of Catholics being carried out by the Obama administration. According to the new healthcare laws that were a cornerstone of the Obama administration, employers affiliated with the Catholic Church will have to include free birth control in their health insurance plans, a mandate that runs contrary to both Catholic doctrine as well as religious freedoms granted by the Constitution. Today he is going a step beyond raising awareness by providing action steps for what you can do.

On radio, Glenn kicked  ”We are all Catholics now” movement focused on organizing people to contact their Senators and ask them to vote for a Conscience Protection measure is planned to appear as an amendment to the Highway Transportation bill. The amendment is being offered by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO).

While it’s unknown exactly when the vote will occur, the plan is for it to happen this week.

So what can you do? Organize and follow the instructions below:

Call the Capitol and speak with your Senator. The numbers are: 202.224.3121; 202.225.3121; the toll free numbers for the Capitol Switchboard include: 1-866-220-0044 1-877-851-6437, 1-800-833-6354, 1-888-355-3588, 1-866-808-0065, 1-877-762-8762, 1-800-862-5530.

Call the switchboard, ask to be connected to a Senator from your specific state (it will take two calls, one for each Senator).

Whoever answers:

1. Tell them that you want to tell the Senator to vote for the Blunt conscience protection amendment.
2. Ask them if they know how the Senator will vote on that amendment
3. Tell them you want to be contacted back about how he voted (be sure to ask for accountability — they hate it, but it makes them call you back).
4. When you call, be sure to tell them “We are all Catholics now”. This key phrase will let them know you are part of a larger, organized movement working in support of religious freedom.

You can also take this opportunity to talk to your U. S. Representatives. Use the same switchboard number, and ask for your U. S. Congressman by name. Follow the same steps, but this time asking your Congressman to SIGN ONTO the Fortenberry Conscience Protection bill. Jeff Fortenberry (NE) is working on companion legislation in the House.

If you don’t know your U. S. Congressman, you can go to https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml, enter their zip code, and your Representative will come up by name. You can then call and make the request, or you can simply email your representative after you enter your zip code.

Also, if you want to email your Senators, the contact page is http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm.

Don’t try to contact Senators or Reps that are not yours; it won’t work, and they won’t listen.

Tune into GBTV today for more on this from Glenn.

We need to keep the pressure up on our represenatives in the Senate; step by step get the word out and Lord willing we will make it through.

One thing though – expect Reid to do everything in his book of procedures, tricks and outright maneuvers to defeat this amendment or defeat the entire bill just for the sake of killing this amendment. The lines are drawn and now we need to stand strong or disappear into the night.

As per usual SENATOR DURBAN’S phone line is BUSY.. doesn’t matter what is going on it’s always busy..which giving the benefit of the doubt might be because so many are calling in.. so I will EMAIL.. if I had a fax I would FAX him..also..

There should be no need to add additional legislative language to protect conscience because it is already in the constitution. However, when you have a spineless congress that is more afraid of the media & democrats and is unwilling to use its power of the purse to protect our constitutional rights, what other course action is there. Adding an amendment to the Highway bill may not be the best course because a lot of other conservative leaders are against the funding language, such as Heritage, Redstate, Club for Growth. They should make it a stand alone bill.

I hate to say it, but Catholics aren’t what they used to be.  Take Stasi Pelosi e.g., not exactly Mother Teresa.

Nelson – it still is a beginning, we have to not only strike for the repeal of all the Obama-care package we need to make the smaller strikes as well; one way or another this thing needs to be dismantled. This is the case of we will end it by a single hammerblow in the SCOTUS or by a thousand cuts piece by piece.

Rick the gist of the matter is that we of any faith who believe in the Constitutional freedom of religious self expression need to stand togeather or we will all be taken apart individually. The Lord Jesus said ‘by their fruits you shall know them.”

Pelosi’s are self evident by her actions.

Glenn, I love you to death, but did I miss a necessary attribution here?  “We are all Catholics now” was what Gov Huckabee said at CPAC.  I know, I was there, I heard him.

Our 1st amendment rights being trampled is a huge waste of time??  The most power grabbing, rights squashing leadership in the last 70 years is not something that should demand our attention?  That’s some good stuff you’re smoking.   Our leadership chose to stir trouble in every revolution in the ME BUT Iran, so I wouldn’t even bring that up when Iran comes around to haunt anyone.  The major problems Americans face are here in America.  If we have subversive leadership, it won’t matter what happens around the world.  When we lose our liberties and our Constitutional founding, everything else is moot.  When we are ruled like a third world banana republic, we won’t much care what happens elsewhere.  We’ll being digging in dumpsters like the Greeks.  It CAN happen here, and it will if we all stick our heads in the sand as you suggest.  Wake up.

    Good Job Glenn!

My wife and I are practicing Catholics.  We do not use contraceptives.  We are very concerned about our freedom to be open to children in our marriage.  Why is the goverment so concerned about stopping women from having children?  When did pregnancy become an illness?  After the contraceptive mandate moves through will their be a 2 child mandate put on couples?  Will any child concieved after 2 will it be forced to be aborted.

Glenn– check out Natural Family Planning– its the best way to regulate births and is moral correct.  The Crieghton Model NFP is completely scientific.  It involves personal responsibility and respects women’s bodies and her fertility cycle.

Here is a solution to stop “unintended pregnancies”–

STOP HAVING SEX WITH PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT MARRIED TOO!

We Americans need  to get back to the Christian virtues of chastiy and fedelity

Interesting, having heard that Glenn is a former Catholic. And I’m glad of this –
But I’m a convert TO the Catholic Church, and every Protestant Church I was ever part of -  United Methodist, Southern Baptist, American Baptist, Christian & Missionary Alliance, some independent pentecostal churches, and SOME Conservative Quaker meetings – hold the same moral code and respect for life as the Catholic Church. These dear Christian people are also being insulted and bullied by this HHS mandate, and they deserve to be acknowledged as among the Faithful, too.

      The Blunt Amendment:

SA 1520. Mr. BLUNT (for himself, Mr. McConnell, Mr. Johanns, Mr. Wicker, Mr. Hatch, Ms. Ayotte, Mr. Rubio, Mr. Nelson of Nebraska, Mr. Roberts, Mr. McCain, Mr. Kyl, Mr. Coats, Mr. Barrasso, Mr. Toomey, Mr. Lugar, Mr. Cornyn, Mr. Boozman, Mr. Paul, Mr. Hoeven, and Mr. Graham)
submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him
to the bill S. 1813, to reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway
safety construction programs, and for other purposes; which was ordered
to lie on the table; as follows:
At the appropriate place, insert the following:
SEC. __. RESPECT FOR RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE.
        (a) Findings and Purposes.–
        (1) FINDINGS.–Congress finds the following:

    (A) As Thomas Jefferson declared to New London Methodists in 1809,
“[n]o provision in our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that
which protects the rights of conscience against the enterprises of the
    civil authority”.
        (B) Jefferson’s statement expresses a
conviction on respect for conscience that is deeply embedded in the
history and traditions of our Nation and codified in numerous State and
Federal laws, including laws on health care.
    [Page: S539]

        (C) Until enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act (Public Law 111-148, in this section referred to as “PPACA”), the
Federal Government has not sought to impose specific coverage or care
requirements that infringe on the rights of conscience of insurers,
purchasers of insurance, plan sponsors, beneficiaries, and other
stakeholders, such as individual or institutional health care providers.

    (D) PPACA creates a new nationwide requirement for health plans to
cover “essential health benefits” and “preventive services”
(including a distinct set of “preventive services for women”),
delegating to the Department of Health and Human Services the authority
to provide a list of detailed services under each category, and imposes
other new requirements with respect to the provision of health care
    services.
        (E) While PPACA provides an exemption for some
religious groups that object to participation in Government health
programs generally, it does not allow purchasers, plan sponsors, and
other stakeholders with religious or moral objections to specific items
or services to decline providing or obtaining coverage of such items or
services, or allow health care providers with such objections to decline
    to provide them.
        (F) By creating new barriers to health
insurance and causing the loss of existing insurance arrangements, these
inflexible mandates in PPACA jeopardize the ability of individuals to
exercise their rights of conscience and their ability to freely
participate in the health insurance and health care marketplace.
        (2) PURPOSES.–The purposes of this section are–

    (A) to ensure that health care stakeholders retain the right to
provide, purchase, or enroll in health coverage that is consistent with
their religious beliefs and moral convictions, without fear of being
penalized or discriminated against under PPACA; and
        (B) to
ensure that no requirement in PPACA creates new pressures to exclude
those exercising such conscientious objection from health plans or other
    programs under PPACA.
        (b) Respect for Rights of Conscience.–
        (1) IN GENERAL.–Section
1302(b) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law
111-148; 42 U.S.C. 18022(b)) is amended by adding at the end the
    following new paragraph:
“(6) RESPECTING RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE WITH REGARD TO SPECIFIC ITEMS OR SERVICES.–
        “(A) FOR HEALTH PLANS.–A
health plan shall not be considered to have failed to provide the
essential health benefits package described in subsection (a) (or
preventive health services described in section 2713 of the Public
Health Service Act), to fail to be a qualified health plan, or to fail
to fulfill any other requirement under this title on the basis that it
declines to provide coverage of specific items or services because–

“(i) providing coverage (or, in the case of a sponsor of a group
health plan, paying for coverage) of such specific items or services is
contrary to the religious beliefs or moral convictions of the sponsor,
issuer, or other entity offering the plan; or
        “(ii) such
coverage (in the case of individual coverage) is contrary to the
religious beliefs or moral convictions of the purchaser or beneficiary
    of the coverage.
        “(B) FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS.–Nothing
in this title (or any amendment made by this title) shall be construed
to require an individual or institutional health care provider, or
authorize a health plan to require a provider, to provide, participate
in, or refer for a specific item or service contrary to the provider’s
religious beliefs or moral convictions. Notwithstanding any other
provision of this title, a health plan shall not be considered to have
failed to provide timely or other
access to items or services under this title (or any amendment made by
this title) or to fulfill any other requirement under this title because
it has respected the rights of conscience of such a provider pursuant
    to this paragraph.
“(C) NONDISCRIMINATION IN EXERCISING RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE.–No
Exchange or other official or entity acting in a governmental capacity
in the course of implementing this title (or any amendment made by this
title) shall discriminate against a health plan, plan sponsor, health
care provider, or other person because of such plan’s, sponsor’s,
provider’s, or person’s unwillingness to provide coverage of,
participate in, or refer for, specific items or services pursuant to
    this paragraph.
        “(D) CONSTRUCTION.–Nothing in
subparagraph (A) or (B) shall be construed to permit a health plan or
provider to discriminate in a manner inconsistent with subparagraphs (B)
    and (D) of paragraph (4).
        “(E) PRIVATE RIGHTS OF ACTION.–The
various protections of conscience in this paragraph constitute the
protection of individual rights and create a private cause of action for
those persons or entities protected. Any person or entity may assert a
violation of this paragraph as a claim or defense in a judicial
    proceeding.
        “(F) REMEDIES.–
        “(i) FEDERAL JURISDICTION.–The
Federal courts shall have jurisdiction to prevent and redress actual or
threatened violations of this paragraph by granting all forms of legal
or equitable relief, including, but not limited to, injunctive relief,
declaratory relief, damages, costs, and attorney fees.
        “(ii) INITIATING PARTY.–An
action under this paragraph may be instituted by the Attorney General
of the United States, or by any person or entity having standing to
complain of a threatened or actual violation of this paragraph,
including, but not limited to, any actual or prospective plan sponsor,
issuer, or other entity offering a plan, any actual or prospective
purchaser or beneficiary of a plan, and any individual or institutional
    health care provider.
        “(iii) INTERIM RELIEF.–Pending
final determination of any action under this paragraph, the court may at
any time enter such restraining order or prohibitions, or take such
other actions, as it deems necessary.
        “(G) ADMINISTRATION.–The
Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services
is designated to receive complaints of discrimination based on this
paragraph and coordinate the investigation of such complaints.
        “(H) ACTUARIAL EQUIVALENCE.–Nothing
in this paragraph shall prohibit the Secretary from issuing regulations
or other guidance to ensure that health plans excluding specific items
or services under this paragraph shall have an aggregate actuarial value
at least equivalent to that of plans at the same level of coverage that
do not exclude such items or services.”.
        (2) EFFECTIVE DATE.–The amendment made by paragraph (1) shall be effective as if included in the enactment of Public Law 111-148.included in the enactment of Public Law 111-148.

I’ll say it again: The President was veeeeerrrrry clever.  He started his attack on the Constitution by using a very emotional subject: Birth control and abortion. People become so engrossed and so emotional about that issue that they cannot see the REAL issue: The dissolution of the first amendment to the Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..”

I think you are going about things the wrong way.  This bill is so vaguely worded that it could allow employers to opt out of basically ANY treatment as long as they are creative enough to come up with some reason that they morally oppose it.  So what happens when your employer decides he doesn’t want to pay for your AIDs medication on moral grounds?  Or medication for an STD?  Or cervical cancer tests?  Or basically anything you might need?

America needs a leader now, one that can• Unite the people• Communicate American values• Inspire the people• Make tough decisions to tackle American issues• Be acceptable to the other side (at least to an extent)
If the most conservative candidate cannot do that, then we do the Nation a disservice. We chose Obama because he spoke like a Greek god, we could hang out with him anyday, he was someone we could drink a glass of beer with He looked charming, he talked a good talk about the issues, oh and it was time for someone of his pigmentation type. Where has that gotten us so far?
Somehow we have to end the vicious circle of from one extreme position of ideology to the other. America is looking for a leader by birth and at heart, not a leader by default or inheritance.
It seems that the at the depth of the Contraceptive conspiracy is not only an attempt to change the top tier of the GOP candidates, but to also change to topic of the debate and to sway by deceiving many voters, and to also rile up the passion of a base that sees the fight come close homehttp://fathersmind.blogspot.com/

Yes, and the thing that worries me is that this bill does not mention birth control specifically.  This bill would allow employers to deny coverage for any service which it can claim to have something as vague as “moral objections” to.

It’s not hard to imagine how this could be abused to deny a whole range of services beyond just birth control.

If people are seriously going to demand this bill be passed they should also demand that its wording be revised so it is less vague and less prone to abuse.

Does anyone see the frog in boiling water? This is a process using conscience and breaking down our liberties. Come on gang, open you mind. Senate and Congress DO NOT care how we feel… I believe they are aiding the Administration in achieving their final goal… take away our liberties. We play on one thing at a time and this being our religious freedoms. We spemd so much time on this particular item while the Administration continues to take away our other freedoms. Does anyone feel the boiling water yet? You on the left… remember, when government is done with you, you will become irrelevant.

Keep up the good work Glenn and God Bless You!

I am not a Catholic, but I think what Obama is doing is wrong by clamping down on and taking away everyone’s [all faiths] religious freedoms..I am a born again Christian and I feel that Christians will be, and some already are, being persecuted for practicing their faith… We shall elect another President come Nov. Obama will be out!!!!! Praise God!!!!

Well, I spoke with a staffer in Claire McCaskill’s office (our other “Catholic” senator from Missouri) & encouraged her to vote for the amendment and asked for her to let me know how she votes on this issue.  And the staffer told me that he already knows she will vote against it.  I told him that was very disappointing especially since she professes to be a fellow Catholic and has sworn to uphold the Constitution, including the 1st Amendment and our freedom of relgion, and he disregarded that and said, well, she won’t be voting for it.  At least I made my opinion known, I suppose, but I’m thoroughly disgusted with her and I pray she is ousted in the 2012 election.

And I’m a Catholic who has never and will never support Obama and his anti-Christian platforms.  When our pastor spoke out against the birth control mandate a couple weeks ago, there was widespread clapping at church during the homily, which is very unusual for our very quiet, reserved parish.  There is widespread disapproval amongst Catholics for Obama, at least the true practicing Catholics (and there is a big distinction there) in my area (St. Louis) at least.

Angie I have to respectfully disagree with you on the poll numbers. As a member of the Catholic church for 30 years I took exception with the church on a few issues that eventually prompted me to convert to protestantism. One of the biggest issues was that members of the church were far to liberal. Many catholics pick and choose what they want to believe about the church’s teachings. I’m sure you’ve heard the term “cafeteria catholics.” My point is that true conservative christians, those who rely on the bible for daily guidance, did not put Obama in the white house. I get steamed every time Bill O’Reilly refers to our fine country as being 75% christian. If that was the case Obama would never have gotten into the white house in the first place. Sadly the term “christian” is nothing more than a label to many christians. It’s the same as being Irish or Italian. I don’t mean to offend, but from my experience I think catholics are far to liberal. However I hope you are right when you say that “catholics are waking up.” As far as the rest of the country is concerned I don’t see any hope there. This battle is up to us christians to fight.

why?  cause your an self deluded ignorant atheist? The British said the same thing about George Washington as well. General Cornwallis couldn’t even fathom how an army of rabble and peasants had beaten the greatest army in the world. How the Black robe regiment and preachers of the colonies had so influenced and expounded the ideas of true freedom into the people ( Largely based of scripture) That the american populace by over 2/3 margin supported the cause of liberty or not. Whether you accept it as inspired or not the Bible specifically Deuteronomy the founders themselves quoted as the largest source of reference for the constitution and the declaration of independance. (John Adams and Jefferson later in letters realized they hadn’t put enough of it in to stop the corruption they for saw would happen. There one consolation was that they believed in De-Tocqueville statements about the American people who said the strength of America was in her churches and that the nation was great because its people were good. This was why Patrick Henry correctly stated that we are a christian nation. Not because we have a state sponsored religion or that we are all Christians. It was because our government was founded on the Judeo- Christian values of society and that is the only thing that largely stands between you and the Darwinist beliefs represented in gulags of russia, the gas chambers of the Nazis, the work camps of China and North Korea and the death merchants of progressiveism in general who have failed to build any lasting successful society. Why because there model is based on the concept of survival of the fittest, destruction and division. So yes GOD is the answer. Even on a strictly non religious view it is the answer because Washington is right when he said “we will treat carefully the idea you can have morality without religion. History attests that when there is no religion there is no morality”. This is why Adams and Washington recognized in the French revolution what Thomas paine and even Jefferson to an extent could not. Their is no enlightenment with out divine providence to guide it in its proper use. A concept true progressives not the idiot lemming masses they cater to understand full well. I know I was one of them. So yes God is the Answer because it focuses on individual responsibility, rights and duty because if the individual has no rights the collective has no rights because the terms can always be construed by those in power. What collective? Everyone but this group?, This race, This religion, This income bracket?, This state, This political group? All discriminated against by the other collective who happened to have the reins of absolute power and a self GOD complex to boot. The individual has no rights against the colective ( No I in democracy). Which individual? Individual person, town, city, state, race, Nation( Israel), Religion? No limits to Social Injustice is there. So yes GOD IS the Answer.

The Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod Stance:

    Dear Brothers and Sisters in
    Christ,

    In response to President
    Obama’s announcement Friday concerning an

    “accommodation” to a
previous mandate that health plans must cover all forms

    of birth control (even those
that can kill the unborn), The Lutheran

    Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS)
remains deeply concerned. We strongly object to

    the use of drugs and
procedures that are used to take the lives of unborn

    children, who are persons in
the sight of God from the time of conception. Drugs

such as “Plan B” and “Ella,”
which are still included in the mandate,

    can work post-conception to
cause the death of the developing child, so don’t

    be fooled by statements to
    the contrary.

    We see President Obama’s
action Friday as significant, in that it appears to

    have been prompted by the
many voices united in concern over an infringement of

    our religious liberties. But
the “accommodation” did not expand the

    exemption for religious
employers, nor did it restrict the mandate in any way.

    It simply described a
temporary enforcement delay and a possible future

    change—a change that,
unfortunately, would not adequately protect religious

    freedom or unborn lives.

    We remain opposed to
this mandate because it runs counter to the biblical truth

    of the sanctity of human
life. We are committed to working to ensure that we

    remain free to practice the
teachings of our faith, that our religious rights

    are not violated, and that
our rights of conscience are retained. Freedom of

    religion extends beyond the
practice of our faith in houses of worship. We must

be free to put our faith
into action in the public square, and, in response to

    Christ’s call, demonstrate
His mercy through our love and compassion for all

    people according to the
    clear mandate of Holy Scripture.

    The government has
overstepped its bounds. This controversy is not merely about

    “birth control” and the
Catholic Church’s views about it. It’s about

    mandating that we provide
medications which kill life in the womb. And moreover,

    and perhaps even more
ominous, it is about an overzealous government forcing

    coercive provisions that
violate the consciences and rights of its citizens. We

    can no longer expect a
favored position for Christianity in this country. But we

    can, as citizens of this
great nation, fight for constitutional sanity against

    secularizing forces. As we
have vividly experienced in discriminatory state

    legislation with respect to
homosexual adoption, we, and our institutions (and

    those of other religious
citizens of good will), are being robbed of the right

    to the free exercise of
religion absent government intrusion or threat. The next

    assault will come upon
church-related retirement facilities. How much longer

will it be legal in this
country to believe and act according to the dictates of

    biblical and creedal
    Christianity?

    Jesus bids us,
“Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the

    things that are God’s” (Mark
12:17). We will pray for and support our

    government where we can, but
our consciences and lives belong to God.

    In His peace,

    Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison

    President

    The Lutheran Church—Missouri
    Synod

Actually Jennifer did you know that unelected officials have taken over Washington and are orchestrating the daily news? Most of the comments and replies you’re reading online are government created too. With many stories the COMMENTS ARE CREATED BEFORE THE STORY IS REPORTED. The oldest, first, highest, best, and most popular rated comments are almost all government propaganda. They are conducting Psy-ops (psychological operations) for domestic spying. Tommy, I understand why you are irritated by people saying the US is 75% Christian.  I get just as incensed when people say that the majority of Catholic Christians are liberal, or that they support Obama or his policies.  Folks who do not follow the faith cannot truly call themselves Catholic, just as those who do not act/vote in a Christian way shouldn’t call themselves Christian.  Do not mistake the actions of fallible individuals for the Church or her position!

Christianity, and Catholic Christianity are not heritages or nationalities…they are faiths…ways of life and behavior and belief.  Many people who call themselves Catholic are looking at the word the wrong way.  It happens in every religion.

Believe me, Tommy, Catholics…REAL Catholics…are anything but liberal, particularly in this day and age.  There was a liberal leaning movement for a while, but after widespread seminary reform, etc., you’d be surprised at the true numbers today.

Nearly 400,000 people attended the March For Life this January, for example…most of them Catholic, although many, many faiths (Christian and non-Christian) were strongly represented!  I guarantee you, those 400,000 represented millions more who could only be there in spirit, and NONE of us put Obama in the white house!

And I agree wholeheartedly with you:  This battle is up to US Christians to fight.  All of us!

insurance companies that provide insurance publicly, and companies that hire for jobs that do not have a religious component (like pretty much every job in a hospital) are subject to federal guidelines on non-discrimination, employee safety, and standards for medical care (in the case of insurance companies).  if you think that regulations on companies for health/safety reasons are unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause that’s one thing.  But telling secular, public employers to abide by certain rules is not an abridgment of anyone’s freedom of religion.

the employees at most Catholic institutions are not required to be Catholic or follow Catholic teachings, and have no connection to the Church other than that the Church holds a controlling share of the stock of the hospital or hospital company.  That hardly makes it a religious employer.  My current employer can’t tell me that i’m not allowed to be on birth control, so I’m not sure why an employer in the situation described above can get out of these federal regulations.

unfortunately it’s a bit vague around some of the edges…how would you like to define “speech”.  does it apply to written words?  how about actions that carry a meaning?  is it only applicable when someone GIVES a speech in some sort of official capacity, or is it applicable to normal unofficial people as well?  what are the outer limits of “speech”?  if you can answer these with “common sense” and somehow come up with a definition that keeps everyone happy, congratulations, you’ve just performed a miracle.

I would say that the liberal catholics stem from the Kennedy era.  Many Catholics were Democrats and were seduced into their way of thinking as the party became more progressive.  Society as a whole had an impact on the Catholic religion because the Holy See did not change with the times.  Shame on those cafeteria Catholics, they like to change the rules to suit their fancy.  If all of us would just follow the Commandments and the Bible, life would be good.  All of this applies to society in general.  Prayer will overcome all of this evil that pervades our society.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VOIVE4HBQT5TWCISIW75XMK5UE Alicia

YOUR freedom to be open to having children is not being infringed.  If you don’t want to use birth control, you don’t have to.  No one’s putting it in your food or whatnot.

If you’re concerned about paying for services you don’t agree with, that’s the way insurance works.  Read your policy sometime, I’m willing to bet there’s a whole bunch of things that are covered that are either “immoral” or “unnecessary”.  That’s how insurance works – by pooling many different risks.

Changing the subject – Here is a little tid-bit regarding his plan for disarmament…..

Yes, he told us in advance what he planned to
    do. Few were listening.

The following is a narrative taken
from a 2008 Sunday morning televised “Meet The Press’.

    From Sunday’s 07 Sept. 2008
11:48:04 EST, Televised “Meet the Press” THE THEN Senator
Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.

    General Bill Gann’ USAF (ret.)
asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn’t follow protocol when the National
    Anthem is played.

The General stated to Obama that
according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171…

    During rendition of the national
anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in
uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the
right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, “Stand and Face
    It”.

    NOW GET THIS !!

    ‘Senator Obama replied:

“As I’ve said about the flag
pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides”. “There
are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol
of oppression..” “The anthem itself conveys a war-like
message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of
    thing.”

    (ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???)

    Obama continued: “The
National Anthem should be ‘swapped’ for something less parochial and
less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing’.
If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it. In my opinion, we
should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as ‘redesign’
our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm
America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren.
If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the
nations of Islam, where peace prevails – - – perhaps a state or period
of mutual accord could exist between our governments ……”

When I become President, I will seek
a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war
or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive
thoughts. We as a Nation, have placed
upon the nations of Islam, an
unfair injustice which is WHY my
wife disrespects the Flag and she
and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past”.

    “Of course
now, I have found myself about to become the
President of the United States and I have put my
hatred aside. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and
offer the people a new path. My wife and
I look forward to becoming our Country’s First black Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America ”

    Yes, you read it right.

    I, for one, am speechless!!!

Just as paying farmers to turn
their food crops into ethanol (corn) crops was the first step in mandated
ethanol in our gas tanks, free abortions and contraceptives will be the first
    step in mandating no reproduction.

When the farmers were paid huge
subsidies to grow corn for ethanol they stripped our crop lands. Corn is the
worst crop on our soil. Now we have high prices for our scarce grains and animal
products that rely on them. Now we have been mandated to have ethanol in all of
our gas tanks. Ethanol ruins small engines, gives us poor gas mileage and
shortens the life of our autos.

We are all going to have free
contraceptives and abortion. The use of such has a direct cause and effect on
our fertility. We are already seeing this in our young women. Next it will be
mandated just like China. And, who is going to pay for our national debt and
Social Security when we have no children to feed the working force?

Is this just a subterfuge, to cover up a real agenda, like Boahner attempting to stop the fast and furious investigation, or maybe the removal of all of the USA’s protection, like no more nukes.
Wake Up, BO obviously knew this was going to cause a major controversy, so why did he do it? think about it!

Jennifer, It has already happened…. Read the post below

    Dhimmitude — What does
it mean?  Obama used it in the health care bill.  Now isn’t this
interesting?  It was used in the health care law.

    Dhimmitude — I had never
heard the word until now.  Type it into Google and start reading.
Pretty interesting.  It’s on page 107 of the healthcare bill.
I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists.  It is a REAL word.
Amish and others are excluded, including Muslims.  I think I could
become Amish a whole lot easier than Muslim.

    Word of the Day: Dhimmitude

    Dhimmitude is the Muslim
system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad.
Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating
their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to
    Islam.

    ObamaCare allows the
establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the United States.
Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase
insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured.  Islam
considers insurance to be “gambling,” “risk-taking” and
“usury” and is thus banned.  Muslims are specifically granted
    exemption based on this.

    How convenient.  So
I, as a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my
assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will
face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax.
Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of
his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance.
Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims.  Period.
     This is Dhimmitude.

    Dhimmitude serves two
purposes:  It enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions
to Islam.  In this case, the incentive to convert to Islam will be taken
up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y, and Z
types who have no moral anchor.  If you don’t believe in Christ to begin
with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver.
”Sure, I’ll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no
taxes.  Where do I sign, bro?”

    It is recommended that
this post be sent to your contacts.  This is desperately important and
people need to know about it — quickly!  To check it out on Snopes, type
this in:  Health Insurance Exemptions.  Posted for educational
purposes only pursuant to the Fair Use doctrine.  All of us would be wise
to remember this when we vote in November.  Those who voted for Obama are
to blame for this.  Whether it be out of ignorance or whatever, they
caused this to be perpetrated on the American people.  But you will have a
hard time finding one who has the strength of character to admit his/her
    mistake.

We’re wasting our time. No one in congress ia fighting for us. Republican’s are cowards. They are blamed daily by oblamer and they are silent. They won’t even stand up for theirselves, much less us. Tea Party GAVE them the House. They did nothing to get it. And they run from the Tea Party every time asked about it. I’m talking mainly, Boehner and Cantor. Republican’s don’t want to fight. They would rather back down like they’ve done for decades.

You have me confused with someone who knows what a Truth Squad is, or someone who might care. The Democrats & Republicans have made themselves irrelevant. The Non-Democrats & Non-Republicans are going to decide the next election. The farther the pedulum swings to the left, the farther and faster it has always swung back to the right, except for the entitlement programs, so get ready for another 4 years of  fun once the current president can concentrate on finishing what he’s started without having to woryy or care about reelection.

Remember what Reagan said. It was something like, ‘I didn’t leave the Democrt Party, the Democrat Party left me.’ That is what happened to most of the Democrats that I know. The problem is they don’t even realize it. The Party has changed from being the little man’s political outlet to being the outlet for all the special interests, (gays, unions etc.), and the Progressiv/Socialist movement.

The character of any man is defined by how he treats his mother as the years pass …. need I say more about this person below other than there is no character, no integrity, but there is a ton of attitude and arrogance that defines his shallow past and hollow future …. I rest my case.

I bought and read Obama’s book, Audacity of Hope. It was difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything American. Let me add a phrase he used to describe his attitude toward whites. He harbors a “COIL OF RAGE”. His words not mine. Is anyone out there awake?
Everyone of voting age should read these two books by him: Don’t buy it, just get it from the library. I don’t care whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, a Conservative or a liberal, be aware of the attitude and character of this sitting President.

    From Dreams From My Father:
“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”

“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.”"There was something about her that made me wary, a little too sure of herself, maybe and white.”

“It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

“I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself: the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”
And FINALLY ………… and most scary:

    From Audacity of Hope:
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Someone with this mentality running our GREAT nation! Keep your eye on him and don’t blink.

mudslide~~ It has come to this because our country has been under assault by the Progressive movement for over 100 years.  The problem is, we are just waking up as if from a long sleep and realizing we are at the edge of a cliff and must somehow stop the inevitable disaster.  The liberals must be stopped.  There was a time when there were moderate liberals who would work with the conservatives to craft sensible legislation in our country, but those days have been long gone.  We are left with a rabid, radical, left who are like a pack of wolves ready to devour this country in a frenzy of hate and lies; just listen to the MSM.  If we want to remain free, if we want to remain a sovereign nation, we must stop this onslaught against our Constitution.  If they can continue to destroy our Founding document, our Constitution, we will no longer be the beacon of freedom for the world.  We must overcome, with a grassroots effort to start at the top and work our way down until every activist judge, legislator and president is removed from office.

I pull up to my Catholic church on Sundays in my overly bumper stickered car with Sarah Palin and quotes like, “The Problem With Socialism is you run out of other peoples money.” Our 912 groups have fought Progressive Christian and Catholic group here who push for a ridiculous amount of spending on public housing. Funny how in England public housing is in their constitution…

The church has abrogated it’s defense of it’s own position and it began to do so around 150 years ago culminating in the lay down for the social security legislation.  Adult children have the Biblical responsibility to care for their parents not any government.  Thus has that governmental grab destroyed the Biblical relationship between parents and children, government and it’s citizens, caused marriages to weaken resulting in higher divorce rates and even relationships between siblings have been weakened, weakening the bonds of familiall love.  Short story: anything this or any government does it destroys.

It is unbelievable that redistribution of the taxpayer’s money to various charities is considered charitable spending by some.  This explains why charitable giving on the tax returns of some elected officials like Biden shows $200 of annual giving.  This is theft, pure and simple. It makes no difference who is doing the stealing, it’s still stealing to take from one and give to another.  This reality has co-opted the Catholic Church, coercing them, out of fear of retaliation by the cessation of Federal funds, to change their doctrine to humanism from Biblical doctrine and to become an arm of the government.

The Liberals/Progressives/Fabians or by what ever name they call them selves have been playing some kind of Star Trek 3 dimensional chess for the last century while those who love freedom, and love leaving people alone to live their own lives even more, have been playing checkers on a Sunday afternoon porch.  The Progs worked to remove God from their conscience and have now filled the hole where faith used to dwell with their secular, rooted in Marx, ideals.  The depth of the problem is that for the most part they all fervently believe that their ideas for the bright shiny future of humanity are the best thing since creation… uh… er.. evolution.  They are religious fanatics of the highest order.  They don’t see the darkness and evil, only their ends (that they use any means to justify).  The only way to defeat this catastrophy of human society is for the nation to wake up to morals and faith once again.  We must live righteous lives (yes I said it) demonstrated it with love to the nation at large.

Politics are not the problem.  Politicians are not the problem.  Every thing you see that sickens the soul are only symptoms of the heart of the people of this great nation.  Please get vocal and active, and let the politicians know you are calling them out.  But after that, during that, call out to God how ever you believe in him for a national repentance to come.  God is faithful to bring his children along with his plan for them.  First come the fishers, then the hunters (that is a scary thing to study)  If we do not follow the lure of his love and his calling, he WILL send the hunters to drive us toward him.  Ask the Jews, and the early church under Rome and just about any where else you look in history. Blow the politician’s phones up (with phone calls, not violence) but after that pray like you never have before.  Speak to those who will listen about finding a better purpose for their lives; not trying to make more church members just like you.  Demonstrate the power and grace of love, integrity and a righteous and moral life.

Hate to get wordy, but I just can’t help it.  I want to leave a country to my children and grand children like my Grand Father left me.

I do understand what you are saying..Some of my friends in the 912 group do not understand why I go to church. A system can be more easily changed on the inside. Isn’t this how Progressives got into the Catholic church in the first place?

Rufree, the church is abaolutely about individualism.  An individual accepts Jesus (or for those who believe something else fill in the blank)  In the early church, they shared everything as each had need.  But they were free to share how and where they choose.  Just ask Ananais and Saphria.  The world’s system we find our selves burried in is exactly the opposite.  The central power tells us how and when and where and to whom we should share.  I have a son in his mid twenties who is reckless and foolish to the extreme with his money and with his integrity.  Just like in the church, in my family I tried to help him out.  Many dollars and two vehicles later I have cut off the help.  The more I helped like the liberals think I should help, the worst he gets.  IN biblical times, the group mindset was worship, group prayer, and ministry/teaching.  No where in the biblical times did the church become communists.  We are each responsible for our own obedience and faith and lives.  As each individual depends and leans on the Creator, each individual will find direction and strength and grace to live their own individual lives.  Then each member can come together and add his or her part to the body of Christ.  To the working of the church.  America was built by people seeking individual freedom to worship, not on a commune.  they first tried a communist approach ~ nearly starved to death over the winter.  The next year they worked each for them selves and flourished.  Individuals make up the church, individuals decide to help those in need, indiviudals follow their own heart and the leading of the Word to come to Salvation.

As a convert to Catholism over forty years ago and a  practising Catholic and also  a pro-life activist. I have seen it all. The church teaching has not wavered in support of life. Sadly not all Catholics have followed her teaching. I am heartened to see more Catholics stepping up to the plate now lets just pray when the going gets tough they stay strong. Prayer and more prayer is needed but also mercy for those who have not been following our churches teaching. By mercy I mean a call to repentance.

Victor Please…. instead of listening to the Propoganda media or to those who hate anything with the conservative label, try talking to people, really and honestly talking to people with different views than the ones you hold.  YOu would be amazed at how very wrong the talking points you are repeating are.  This is not about any possible issue of birth control.  It is about government telling its citizens-soon-to-be-slaves what they must do with their lives.  Anyone who wants anything free is a free-loader by definition.  Americans have lost the values of hard work and caring for each other.  When is the last time anyone parted from you saying, “work hard”?  Nope.  Most say, “Take it easy”!  or “Don’t work too hard”!  the brilliant Heinlein (spelling??) nailed it when he said, “There is no such thing as a free lunch”.  The only way you could possibly see Obama’s oponents as face down in the mud is if you cling to tightly to your own views and align yourself with those who share your views that reality fades in the face of your rosey utopia.  Please victor, with out the influence of anyone from any side of any argument, go and find out for yourself the pure, boundless joy of working hard, and I mean damn hard, for the things you want in your life.  By supporting free lunch now on an issue you favor by a party/candidate/world view you applaud and cheer, you open the door for someone else who comes to power to mandate something you abhor later.  History swings on a pendulum my friend.  Those in power now will someday be at the bottom.  Do you want the religious right telling you or your children how to live and what to believe?  I would bet you all the free condoms in the world you don’t.  INstead work hand in hand with those of different takes on life to establish a society where the rule of law takes precedence over individuals with ideas and political/religious/and personal beliefs are celebrated and accepted; not destroyed.  If not, the destroyers will one day be destroyed.

Wish you lived near by.  I would be gald to buy you a beer or some other beverage and sit and discuss these things with you.  I will have to settle for this crudly impersonal means of sharing ideas.

If you can agree with the following, you we coudlfind agreement to return to a government and a society that embraces all and a government that is restricted and limited:  “Do all you say you will do.  Do not encroach on another’s life, property, or freedom.”  All the best to you Victor.

I doubt a very large % of American people who call themselves “Catholic” really live by all of the doctrine of the Catholic church.  It doesn’t seem to be working here in American society.  But if they grew up Catholic and went to Catholic churches and schools, they call themselves Catholic. What difference does it make?  Anyone who wants Obama and his filthy government to stop abusing our rights and taking away our freedom should stand together and FIRE him!!   He’s trampling everything we love.  It’s so sad.  It’s so pathetic.  I’m Jewish and I can see where it’s going.  We need to come together and put Obama in the unemployment line.

Hi Maggie, It is not hard to see why people say the Chatholic church is lukewarm when politicians use the lable to garner approval or to help water down the truth.  Did you know Kathleen Sabellius (spelling??) claims to be a Catholic!  She is the HHS mouthpiece for the Progs who kicked off this battle.  ONe thing I wish my brothers and sisters in the Catholic church would do is return to calling people Anathama, excommunicated.  When a politician stands up and says, “I’m catholic” and then actively supports abortion, they should get the public boot.  But that comes with too many of its own problems.  Good thing God will sort it all out in the end.  They can’t be Catholice, or other denominations, just because they say they are.  If some one wants to call them selves a Christian or a believer, they should at least attempt to follow the tennants of their particular doctrine.  If they want to espouse murder or destruction of life, there are plenty of groups that they could join.

Ok, enough foolishness on my part.  We do need to all stand together.  Well said, Maggie

It’s too bad that you turned to Protestantism – you just didn’t know the conservative Catholics – there are plenty of us out there. I do agree with what you said that there are too many liberal Catholics – and btw, they aren’t really Catholic then – only in name because they don’t know what else to call themselves. By their way of thinking, they have excommunicated themselves from the Catholic Church. You can’t be Catholic and believe in the same things as Obama. I also agree with your assessment of Christians. I’ve met plenty of them who don’t act one iota as Christians – but THIS IS OUR PROBLEM – we need to get back to our Christian/Catholic values that made this country great – where people actually had good morals and lived by their belief in God. We need to unite (united we stand, divided we fall).. . . We CAN beat this thing if we are united.

“Recent studies that have been used to assert a causal connection between abortion and subsequent mental disorders are marked by methodological problems that include, but not limited to: poor sample and comparison group selection; inadequate conceptualization and control of relevant variables; poor quality and lack of clinical significance of outcome measures; inappropriateness of statistical analyses; and errors of interpretation, including misattribution of causal effects. By way of contrast, we review some recent major studies that avoid these methodological errors. The most consistent predictor of mental disorders after abortion remains preexisting disorders, which, in turn, are strongly associated with exposure to sexual abuse and intimate violence.” Harvard Review of Psychiatry, Jul/Aug 2009, Vol. 17 Issue 4, p268-290

Did anyone happen to notice they are starting to talk about
Sterilization?  Is this like an Overton window…did they do the same
when abortion used to be a dirty word?
    ===
..it still is a dirty word, hence the marketing trick, which everyone in the room laughed about.

Dr. Bernard Nathanson laughed with them as they introduced the word, ‘choice’ as if it were a car, fence, bike or jeans. They knew that nobody would fall for it.

Little did they know that empty dreams and broken promises resulting from the “contracept mentality” paved the way, and some of this nation did fall for it.

The rest of the nation was silenced and FORCED to pay for it.

Glenn, have posted your “We Are All Catholics” plea on our church’s facebook page.  However, I believe the churches need to organize a phone tree (if you will) to make calls and make the parishioners aware of calls to senate, etc.  Every outreach counts!  Every church counts!  Every call counts!

With all due respect to Tommy, Sharon and Maggie, you’re fighting the wrong battle.  It’s not about “what” you believe; it’s about your “right” to follow your belief without negative consequence, meaning Freedom, which is an attribute of God’s.  We need not worry about who’s a real Christian or not, because when the real battle becomes clear, all eyes will look up instead of horizontally.  We are Americans under God. That’s the Front Line, that’s where the battle is.

It amazes me that every poll taken always projects that Obama will win the general election regardless of who the GOP candidate will be.  What you mentioned above will definitely carry more weight if the GOP candidate wins by a landslide.  I know so many democrats and liberals who are definitely NOT voting for Obama.  The campaign will probably do their best to brain wash a new batch of young voters.  God knows the last batch of UNEMPLOYED young voters who got him elected last time aren’t voting for him again.

I really understand the desire of the concept of freedom of religion. I also understand concepts of Integrity that is needed in government. What I question is how much integrity does it take to proclaim that one is Catholic and really when one is not Catholic? I would seem if one wants God behind something like this, then we cannot be promoting deceptions. In fact if God is involved in it all, then He probably will not like people misleading the government, especially if we are saying we are trusting God. Rational justification works against the effort. I mean think, God is needed to help fix things, but that only works if if you stand on the truth? We want freedom of religion as long as it agrees with our beliefs? If that is what we are after, then we really don’t want freedom of religion. Why can’t we simply say that it is not Godly to support birth control? Does that make sense to anyone else?

Thanks for standing with Catholics.  I think Obama is singling us out first to test the waters of rebellion.  If he gets away with this hokey-pokey, the flood gates are open for anything that is standing in his way.  Thanks also for reminding me about the polls.  I get upset when they keep saying Obama is still ahead.  I forgot about the media input. I keep reminding myself that good does overcome evil and I ask God to Bless America again.

You’re absolutely right, Elaine!  Beautifully spoken!  This fight is about religious freedom!  I only meant to address Tommy’s representation of Catholicism as predominately liberal and (forgive the paraphrase, Tommy) hopeless on this front…or even as somehow not Christian!

All people of faith, no matter which faith, must stand together on this Front Line.  Even people of no particular faith should take notice.  When one freedom is compromised or denied, another can’t be far behind.  We’re seeing attacks on both freedom of religion and freedom of speech…look at Obama’s “Truth Teams” being appointed to bring legal consequences to those who publicly speak out against Obama or his policies, or the fact that military chaplains have been forbidden to speak against the HHS mandate to the troops.

If these attacks succeed, what freedoms will land on the chopping block next?  That’s where it’s at!

Food for thought, Do you like to be told what you must eat? Do you like to be told what kind of car you must drive?  Do you like to be told that the government knows what’s best for your health? Do you like to be told what kind of insurance you must have? then you will like being told that you can only go shopping for food on a certain day, Then you will like your mother and father being told that the medicine they need is to exspensive for them because of their age. And what little money they have in the bank will be taken for the good of all. And because gas will be in such a demand, you will have to get approval to travel more than 50 miles, As there will be others that will want to do the same thing, But that will not help your case, And if you like all this, think of all the other things that can happen, Why you may even have some occupiers that would like for you to give them some of your food, You see they don’t work and someone has to feed them Lucky you. And last, But not the least, What the government gives, They can also take away. They are kind of doing that in Greece now, And isn’t that just wonderful. It’s kind of like being invited to a bbq only to find out you came on the wrong day. And where do you think you can go for help? Think about it.!!!!!

Not only are businesses affiliated with the Catholic church losing their rights to decisions of the conscience, but also any business owner who adheres to Catholic morality.  A catholic who owns a McDonald’s or a real estate agency must also risk losing his or her right to choose not to fund birth control or abortion procedures.  Under this president and legislature we may be forced to conform to the morality of people who totally disagree with our own dearly held beliefs.  What a sad sad day for freedom is this!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VOIVE4HBQT5TWCISIW75XMK5UE Alicia

it’s always been that way though.  if you go into business, you must abide by state regulations – see the minimum wage, or non-discrimination against female workers (I’ve actually read cases where judges said it was immoral for women to work!).  These laws are there to further social or economic goals, and as long as they apply to everyone across the board, it’s not a first amendment infringement.  What makes you think you get to apply your personal morality to your employees anyway?  As long as they’re doing their jobs, what they do outside of work is really none of your business.

  • Anonymous

As a former Catholic I would respectfully disagree with your opinion. Depending on where you live, many Catholics are VERY conservative, however the further West you go, the more liberal the church and its members become. Sadly Communism has invaded the church as have the Progressive element. I just pray that this attack on religious freedom, wakes ALL of us up, regardless of our denomination. Now is the time for all of us to stand together as one, because if we don’t and we let Obama and his fiendish minions win, after they destroy religious freedom for Catholics — Evangelicals, fundamentalists,  mainstream Protestantism and Judaism will be next.

  • Anonymous

But someone is demanding that Catholics pay for what they do outside of business. Then it does become my business because I’m being coerced to pay for something evil.  It doesn’t matter what you think is Evil. In this situation it matters what the Catholic Church thinks is Evil.  The government is interfering with the free expression thereof. That is a violation of the First Amendment.

Forget polls and statistics. Polls and statistics do not speak for The Catholic Church.

  • Anonymous

This isn’t a poll, an expression of opinion or “what most people do”.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VOIVE4HBQT5TWCISIW75XMK5UE Alicia

you’re not being coerced to pay for “evil”.  the insurance company is being mandated to provide coverage with no co-pays.  The business doesn’t come into it.  the money will come out of employee premium payments – which is what they pay into insurance for in the first place, after all.

what your employers think is “evil” does matter however, because they may have different views, and different needs than you, and a private employer really has no call to be forcing morality onto their employees. When a Catholic institution runs a hospital, they are not running a religious institution, but a business.

  • Anonymous

I don’t see the problem.  They’re not being forced to use it just to offer it as an option for their employees.  I understand complaints if the actual churches are being forced to do this, but just a Catholic employer is no big deal whatsoever.  Especially if you’re going to have government supplied healthcare than everybody has to have the same required of them, this is an argument against obamacare not that Obama is out to get Catholics. It’s called being a part of a society, you don’t always get what you want.
Contraception as a part of health insurance, if it’s going to be government mandated, is not a bad thing since it would help prevent abortions.

  • Anonymous

Incorrect. The government is mandating that Catholic employers (who pay for much of the insurance) pay to include contraceptive coverage. Contraceptives and Abortion are Intrinsic Evils in The Catholic Church. Polls and statistics are irrelevant. People conform to the Church. The Church does not conform to the people.

  • S F

henrybest, you are missing the point.  This is a fight for religious freedom, a violation of our first amendment rights.  Contraception is the side show; control is the 800-lb gorilla in the room aka Government control.

There is one way to ‘prevent abortions’: abstinence. Abortion is murder.

  • Anonymous

The *employers* (in this case, the Catholic hospitals) are being forced to pay for insurance coverage of contraception. The employers are Catholic and adhere to Church teaching — it is more than “a business”. For employees the employer pays for the vast majority of the group insurance. The employee typically has a paycheck deduction to cover some of the cost. This has nothing to do with copays.

An open letter to Thomas S Monson, Glenn Beck, and Mitt Romney

    We fight against unseen forces

The true battle is good vs evil

Are any here LDS?   The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is remiss in his duties to school its members to be the best that they can be, on this earth, and to follow Jesus for Jesus’ sake, apparantly they need to be reminded NOT to pursue the things of this Earth to gain worldly possessions and worldly power.

These ‘things’ are NOT a gift from god, bestowed on the worthy people, who follow his word, for it is the will and purpose of Jesus to grant unto them ‘heavenly’ wealth and godly power.

Therefore I beseech the president Thomas S Monson, to admonish the apostate Mitt Romney for
even thinking of ‘winning’ the presidency of the United States of America by any means necessary.

If Mitt Romney seeks the high honor of the office of the president of this Nation, He should do so with the Highest Regard for Honesty and Integrity.  No task or endeavor is beneath or not worthy of God’s involvement in it, and the fact that the lowest common denominator of politics in America may be corruption and evil does not preclude it from being a endeavor that can be undertaken by a Godly man.  It does or should predetermine the behavior of an accolyte of the church who decides to do so.

If Mitt Romney should win by underhanded or even some slightly evil means, what gains Mitt Romney?  How does it serve the true mission of the church, which is to save souls, and has so little to do with the economy?

I agree that an injection of Godliness into the Political Process is much of what is needed in this time of peril, but adding more evil to this equation can only exaccerbate the hold that evil has on America.

Where are the Good Men I know dwell in the temple – can no one counsel him to correct his course?

This Political strategy he has adopted of character assasination MUST stop, it tears the fabric of
one of the only nations that still believes in Freedom of Religion, a nation that rightfully fears the wrath of God on its present trajectory.

THESE precarious times call for GOOD men to stop doing Nothing to fight evil, and to rail against the evil instead of their fellow men/

Where in the Constitution did We The People, who established and ordained these laws on all three branches of our Federal Government, give them the authority to do this?

Somewhere along the line, LIKE TODAY, we have to STAND OUR GROUND and on OUR LAWS and use the Rule of Law to JUST SAY NO!

I am starting to get sick and tired of attempting to handle each and every usurpation one by one, when they are ALL against THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND!

Why don’t WE UNITE, in ONE VOICE, and DEMAND of our “Servants” that they obey Our Laws ON THEM, especially but not limited to the eighteen ONLY enumerated powers clauses in Article I Section 8 pursuant to the 9th and 10th Amendments, The 1st Amendment and the money clauses of Article I Sections 8 and especially 10 pursuant to the Supremacy clause of Article VI, paragraph 2?  Why are we always trying to do this onesey twosey style?

We need to UNITE and compel them to rescind all laws that they legislated that exceed that WE allowed them, so that our Blessings of Liberty can be restored and secured for ourselves and our Posterity.  We need to Remember Who We Are: http://youtu.be/MJ1ifi8wC5k

As a Catholic who has spoken to dozens of other Catholics in my church, I would like to personally ask glenn beck to not associate himself with the Catholic Church.
It isn’t simply because glenn is not a good person.
It is also because none of us want to be baptized postumously as a Mormon is a Proxy Baptism.  I don’t know if glenn beck has told his followers, but the Latter Day Saints, believe that persons of other religions can be baptized after they die so they can actually enter heaven.  The list of those who were saved by the LDS church after their death includes Anne Frank and thousands of other Holocaust survivors who needed to be saved after death so they could enter heaven.  Why does glenn beck’s church believe that Jewish people need to be baptized by the LDS church to enter heaven?  Also, why does this list also include Stalin and Hitler?
So, sorry glenn.  We don’t want to be associated with you.  We would rather not be added to the list with murderers, dictators and people who you believe are need the LDS church to save us!!!

Tommy O’Donnell I am a lifelong Catholic, also an immigrant from Ireland. Like you I took exception to members of the Catholic Church who were far too liberal, especially those who voted for Obama, and I am sick and tired of hearing so-called “Catholics” in name only such as Nancy Pelosi. You say their liberalism prompted you to convert, but surely you give them more power by leaving the Church. The Catholic Church will stand and survive in spite of some liberal members, as it has since Christ appointed the first Pope. I choose to remain and fight in support of true Catholics and all followers of Christ. I saw through Obama before the 2008 Election, and he violated the Constitution as soon as he took office, by appointing 32 czars without Congressional oversight. Finally this latest issue has woken people up to what Obama is about. His “team” will stop at nothing to rig poll numbers and “influence” the electorate. It doesn’t take a genius to predict there will be massive voter fraud and more Chicago-style moves in the attempt to give him a disastrous 2nd term. I pray this election will prove the American People have the power, not He who has the most campaign money.

RE: WE ARE ALL CATHOLICS NOW CAMPAIGN

                OBAMA
IS SUPPORTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION.
    Here’s how:

    Pursuant to the
HHS mandate, Obama is coercing all Americans to respect the establishment of Secular Humanism, which is a religion,
as proven, as a matter of law, below:

    “Interestingly,
    in Torcaso v.  Watkins, 367 U.S. 488 (1961) the Supreme
Court referred to ‘Secular Humanism’ as a religion (at 495, n. 11)”, at n. 43, page
113 in the book: “The Supreme Court’s Constitution” by Barnard H. Siegan
    (1987).

    As an incentive
to join Glenn Beck’s “WE ARE ALL CATHOLICS NOW” campaign, note this:

    “James Madison
who is generally recognized as the leading architect of the religion clauses of
the First Amendment, observed..… that ‘the same authority which can force a
citizen to contribute three pence only of his property for the support of any
one establishment, may force him to conform to any other establishment in all
cases whatsoever. 2 Writings of James
Madison 183, 186 (Hunt ed. 1901). The concern of Madison … was quite clearly that religious liberty
ultimately would be the victim if government could employ its taxing and
spending powers to aid one religion over another [emphasis, added] ….”,
    taken from Flast v. Cohen [392 U.S.

Beck is NOT conservative: he is a reactionary to the core. There are conservatives I respect, not the case with people like Beck who want to push the flow of history backward.

“Face down in the mud” was a metaphor.

It’s YOU who listens to propaganda, the 21st Century Joseph Goebbels. If you do not understand that Beck is a propagandist, then you need to look up the word.  Once you do that, you’ll ignore the meaning and continue to embrace Beck because you put your beliefs ahead of facts.

Hay moron liberal does not mean the same thing today proven fact and seeing how you hate the constitution and George Washington. “The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon” George Washington.  Here the true meaning of Liberalism.
Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis)[1] is the belief in the importance of liberty and equal rights.[2] Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally liberals support ideas such as constitutionalism, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism, and freedom of religion.

Liberalism first became a powerful force in the Age of Enlightenment, rejecting several foundational assumptions that dominated most earlier theories of government, such as nobility, established religion, absolute monarchy, and the Divine Right of Kings. The early liberal thinker John Locke, who is often credited for the creation of liberalism as a distinct philosophical tradition, employed the concept of natural rights and the social contract to argue that the rule of law should replace absolutism in government, that rulers were subject to the consent of the governed, and that private individuals had a fundamental right to life, liberty, and property.

That is not what Liberals are today. You guys hate the Constitution. You guys hate capitalism. You guys hate freedom of religion. you guys hate free and fair elections and human rights. Nice try! Keep showing why we call you the king of the morons at alternut.

Okay, here’s a few George Washington quotes I am sure you will have issues with:

“Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness.”

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

“It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.”

“There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily.”

“To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.”

No matter how perfect the church is, if the message doesn’t resonate with the people, all of whom are subject to failings, it won’t change things fast enough. American society is bordering on depravity. This is a failing of the church and its doctrines because the majority of the people are of Christian background but cannot seem to hear the message.   So you have little girls and young women dressing provocatively,  rampant homosexuality, dishonesty in business, adultery, terrible language on radio and television which is now the norm, television shows with no values, worship of materialism, and on and on. The most outrageous behavior becomes the most popular.  This is what the majority of America has become and even the good Christians are buying into it or not fighting against it. How many people have thrown away their t.vs or refused to buy Cable/Satellite/DISH?   The standard of behavior keeps declining every year.  Bye Bye Ms American Pie.

I wouldn’t think that just anyone can be baptized posthumoulsy.  There would have to be some kind of proceeding, the Family would have to request it, and if you already belong to a different religion, were baptized in it, you can’t be baptized again unless you are alive and request it.   I think God also said that you have to repent of your sins yourself, I don’t think someone else can do it for you, in which case, baptizing you after you have been dead for a while, won’t automatically give you a place in heaven.

    ” …and I gave them a sword…” Nixon
Obama & Co give Americans a sword?  If so lets US use it  effectively!  1st AMMENDMENT clearly guarantes that Congress shall make NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excercise thereof; or abridiging the freedom of speech or of the press…and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Clearly the Obama health mandates violates the prohibition clause when it forces any religion to violate its dogma or beliefs. Christians sin in their hearts as well as with their body. Church’s exist to offer dogma to both forgive and to caution their respective followers as to the penalty of violating those beliefs.  For  government to edict that the Church itself must allow or endorse violating those beliefs is to ‘Render to Ceasar those things that are to be rendered to GOD”
If Americans of all or no religion allow this breach of trust in our Constitutional guaranted Bill of Rights, then none of the ten amendments are secure.  Can America long endure as the bastion of freedom and equal protection under the law.

If Glenn Beck truly understood the overwhelming flow of history and what lies open for all to easily see – within the pages of the bible (end-time prophecy), he wouldn’t be helping those prophetic events unfold. In his latest battle-cry to become involved in world events, he, unwittingly, becomes one more voice added to the choir of religious confusion, hastening the bloody destruction of us all.

    The only way out of this is Evangelism.   Speak about He Whom died on the cross for us because of His love for us.   Catholics want this issue gone?   Does all America want this change we can all count on?     Vote righeously, pray for forgiveness and salvation;

    2Timothy 4
I charge you in the presence of God and of Jesus Christ, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:  preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.  For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

I turned to this page in my Bible;  seek and you shall find.

I have never been, nor will I ever be a “C/catholic” in any sense of the term.  No matter what evil reason this government is giving people, this is blasphemy and I want nothing to do with it. No real “born again, Bible believing Christian” would ever utter the words “We are all Catholics Now”. I don’t want to hear the lies about how the Catholic church is the original and universal church. There is NO such thing as a “universal church”. There is ONLY the Church of God; the rolls of which are kept in the Book of Life, not in some Church of Rome (Catholic) members book.   If Glenn Beck really understood what this is leading to, he wouldn’t be a part of this.

The last time I checked Patriot37, we are a nation serving over 2500 “gods” – otherwise, there would only be one church – one doctrine – thus – one God.

Maybe the one true God is behind much of this confusion of late – in which, America finds herself confronted.. Just who are we as a people and what denomination has it right, that is – the understanding the one and only Almighty God – who by the way, boldly says of himself  and clearly tells us – “there is no other”

I think his reasoning is that most people would rather sit on the sidelines instead of engaging in action.  People first have to feel comfortable outside their box.   Glenn is going about it in a most pragmatic way-he opened my eyes the minute I tunesd into his show on Fox.  I would NEVER have gotten to this point;   he inspired me to become part of the solution, not the do-nothing whiners.

Teresa, get with the program.   A metaphoric stance doesn’t make you Catholic…geez!

I will agree with you RUFREE about Evangelistic campaign needed to wake this nation up from its state of decay and slumber. But for far to long the religious denominations of this hell bent world have done just as you suggest above and that is “Speak about He who died on the cross” —– IF——we are ever going to solve the divisions of organized religion and truly come together as one nation under God (not “gods”) This continuing and endless talk “about Jesus” must be rejected and instead be replaced by the saving message he himself brought to the earth from the Father above. He (Jesus) is simply a messenger ( yes without him Salvation would not be possible) but he himself tells us that the Father gave him a particular message and the world has done its best to reject that message and have replaced it with the doctrine(s) of man. We love talking about Jesus – BUT- its time this world starts listening to his words and doing them.

So yes – seek and you shall find.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_B2G4Y6RVRYKVUBUDNLOADQJLNE Teresa

geez yourself. Like Glenn Beck, you apparently have no idea what “the program” actually is.

  • Anonymous

If our religious organizations around the world really understood the God of the bible – they would also understand his message – they would also understand prophecy. Therefore, there would be no need for a Glenn Beck or anyone else for that matter, to wake the world up to the dangers that we face on a daily bases.

Glenn has a good insight into much of what we see happening around us, but he is woefully ignorant on the most important information that can be gleaned by humankind. So there lies the danger, it is the people like Beck and many others, who obviously see a wicked storm coming, but by their lack of “true understanding” – have no idea of how to ovoid it, thus becoming trapped in it. Instead of becoming part of the solution they have become part of the problem.

  • Anonymous

     Well said – thank you.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_B2G4Y6RVRYKVUBUDNLOADQJLNE Teresa

Those of you who are non-Catholic Christians, let me ask you this. As little as 3 years ago, if someone had come to you and said “Go to your state representative and declare to him/her that you are a Catholic”, would you have done it? I don’t know anyone who is not now a Catholic that would have said “yes”. Every born again, Bible believing Christian I know would have said “NO WAY” without even giving it a second thought.

But, this government issues an unconstitutional law that pertains to people of all faiths and the Catholic Church jumps on it, falsely claiming it is a direct attack on them.  Suddenly, people are lining up to add their names to declare themselves Catholics and join in a battle that could and should be fought like every other legislative battle we’ve ever faced in this country. Never in the history of this country has anyone ever had to declare they’re one with a particular congregation in order to question a law…. NEVER.  So why is it necessary now?

Before you folks jump at this chance to add your name to this blasphemous list, you better think long and hard about what it actually means. Especially those who are concerned about their eternal soul. Because there are a LOT of wolves in sheep’s clothing out there and forming some sort of alliance with one wolf to avoid being eaten by another is NOT the answer.

The term “Christianity” never appeared on earth until Christ started his church. Not long after his murder, a viscous persecution of the true church and real Christians took place and a church which rose up after those bloody years – calling itself Christian” -  was drastically different from the church God himself had started just a few decades before. This church was known as Catholic, and all other so called Christian churches today stem from her beginnings – but again – the church that boasted being the one and only, was drastically different from the church started by Jesus Christ himself.

Not long afterwards, many of its members became disturbed about this obvious and blatant attempt to throw truth to the ground and many divisions and new denominations were born, has the world forgotten the “dark ages” and the “Inquisition”?

There is good news – Jesus Christ started his one and only church almost two thousand years ago – telling any willing to listen – “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” – in other words, this church – Gods True Church – would never die or fade away. He also said that He Himself would lead this one true church until his return back to this earth. Those days are not far off, his return that is – and the members of his one true church are going to have the privilege of introducing this hell bent world to the one who calls himself  – the Savior of all mankind

Please Please Please call your Senators and urge them to vote for this brilliant Legislation!

I can’t wait for the fallout after this passes. Better keep your Senator’s number on speed dial. You’re going to need it after your vegan employer cuts coverage for heart health care on the ethical grounds that diseases of gluttony result from the immoral practice of eating meat and dairy. Or when your plan drops virtually all coverage of prescriptions because a member of PETA in the group conscientiously objects to coverage of anything that has undergone animal testing. And that’s just the beginning of the nightmare.

Know any Christian Scientists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Scientologists or members of any of dozens of other small congregations that reject any form of medical care in favor of prayer? Soon there won’t be a health insurance plan left in the country that’s allowed to cover anything.

I pity the authors and supporters of the amendment. Their myopic Anti-Obama obsession, compelling them to oppose anything and everything even tangentially associated with this president, renders them incapable of seeing beyond their own stunted worldview. Clearly they suffer from the age-old affliction of the religious – the misbegotten notion that the religious, and in this case particularly, the religious who believe “exactly” as they do, have an exclusive claim on morality.

Perhaps I judge too soon. Maybe they’re smarter than I thought. The only possible explanation for this amendment is an intent to destroy the insurance industry entirely, leaving only the very wealthy the ability to afford any health care at all. Or maybe it’s a clever plot secretly hatched by the Liberal Secular Elites to destroy employer-based health coverage and replace it with Nationalized Healthcare!

Actually, the tryanny most people fled when they left Europe and other countries to come here was that of religious tyranny; being told they had to practice “————-” as a religion in order to enjoy the freedoms and liberties various governments provided. In that respect being told we need to claim “We are all Catholics Now” in order to retain the freedoms and liberties our Constitution  guarantees all of people of faith is exactly the kind of tyranny my ancestors fled before this country was a country.

There is bible prophecy indicating these very events that are taking place as we speak. Its prophecy coming alive before our very eyes

The bible calls the Catholic church – “the great whore and mother of harlots” – this can be found in the book of Revelation and many other scripture scattered here and there throughout the bible. Who are the “harlots”? They are those who long ago, broke away from the Catholic mother church and started their own denominations – even though they are no longer Catholic, doesn’t mean they entered into the truth of God – on the contrary – often times they removed themselves even further from the one true Gospel of Christ.

Prophecy, pertaining to our day, tells us to watch for the mother church (in this case a false church) to call back her daughters into one giant mega church and that dangerous event is taking place before our very eyes today, whats more, it’s the naive people like Glenn Beck and many others, who are unwittingly speeding these very prophetic events along.

I’m replying to this a little late, sorry, I passed over it for some reason. I understand what Beck is doing, the stance he’s asking his followers to take is commendable. As usual, the Obama administration is disassembling this nation one piece at a time.Quickly though, one piece after the other – first the Catholics and so on down the line. My take though is from the literal prophetic events that Becks current efforts imply, its prophecy revealing itself before our very eyes – spooky, is too soft a word to describe what is really taking place and its brought on by much greater powers then that of the Obama White house or even Glenn Becks efforts to right the wrong. This, or these events are playing themselves out exactly as they were foretold thousands of years ago. So that’s my take RUFREE – I’m able to read between the lines of daily news events and certain happenings around the world and I see the bigger picture of what is really taking place around us everyday in the unseen spiritual world.

    A Vision in the Wilderness

When John introduces the Whore in Revelation 17, he tells us: “Then
one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me,
‘Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who is seated
upon many waters, with whom the kings of the earth have committed
fornication, and with the wine of whose fornication the dwellers on
earth have become drunk.’ And he carried me away in the Spirit into a
wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full
of b.asphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. The woman
was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and bedecked with gold and jewels and
pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the
impurities of her fornication; and on her forehead was written a name of
mystery: ‘Babylon the great, mother of harlots and of earth’s
abominations.’ And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints
and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her I marveled
    greatly” (Rev. 17:1–6).

This passage tells us several things about the Whore: (1) She is an
international power, since she “sits on many waters,” representing
different peoples (17:15), and she has committed fornication with “the
kings of the earth,” and she has inflamed “the dwellers on earth” with
her fornication. (2) She is connected with the seven-headed Beast from
Revelation 13:1–10. That Beast was a major pagan empire, since its
symbolism combined animal elements from four other major pagan empires
(compare Rev. 13:1–2 with Dan. 7:1–8). (3) The Woman is connected with
royalty, since she is dressed in the royal color purple. (4) The Woman
is rich, for she is “bedecked with gold and jewels and pearls, holding
in her hand a golden cup.” (5) She has committed some kind of
fornication, which in Scripture is often a symbol of false religion—lack
of fidelity to the God who created heaven and earth. (6) She is
symbolically known as Babylon. (7) She is a central cause of
“abominations” in the land, abominations being a reference to practices,
especially religious practices, that are offensive to God. And (8) she
persecutes Christians “the saints and . . . martyrs of Jesus.”

While the rest of her description could refer to a number of things,
the symbolic designation “Babylon” narrows it down to two: pagan Rome
and apostate Jerusalem. It is well known that the early Church Fathers
referred to pagan Rome as “Babylon”; however, there are also indications
in Revelation that the Whore might be apostate Jerusalem. Historically,
a number of commentators, both Protestant and Catholic, have adopted
    this interpretation.

    The Seven Heads

Continuing in Revelation, the angel begins to explain to John the
woman’s symbolism: “This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads
are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; they are also seven
kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and
when he comes he must remain only a little while” (Rev. 17:9–10).

Fundamentalists argue that these seven mountains must be the seven hills of ancient Rome. However the Greek word here, horos,
is almost always translated “mountain” in Scripture. Mountains are
often symbols of kingdoms in Scripture (cf. Ps. 68:15; Dan. 2:35; Obad.
8–21; Amos 4:1, 6:1), which might be why the seven heads also symbolize
seven kings. The mountains could stand for a series of seven kings, five
    of whom have already fallen.

This passage gives us a key rule of Bible interpretation which is
often denied by Fundamentalists: A symbol does not have to refer to one
and only one thing. Here Scripture itself tells us that the heads refer both to seven mountains and seven
kings, meaning the symbol has multiple fulfillments. Thus there is not a
one-to-one correspondence in the Bible between symbols and their
    referents.

Also, the mountains could be a reference to pagan Rome, yet the Whore
could still be a reference to apostate Jerusalem. In this case, her
sitting on the Beast would not indicate a geographical location but an
alliance between the two powers. The Whore (Jerusalem) would be allied
with the Beast (Rome) in persecuting “the saints and . . . martyrs of
Jesus.” (Note that the Whore also sits on many waters, which we are told
are many peoples, [cf. 17:15]. The context makes it clear that here her
“sitting” on something does not refer to a geographical location.)

This passage gives us one reason why the Catholic Church cannot be
the Whore. We are told that the heads “are also seven kings, five of
whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come.” If five of these
kings had fallen in John’s day and one of them was still in existence,
then the Whore must have existed in John’s day. Yet Christian Rome and
Vatican City did not. However, pagan Rome did have a line of
emperors, and the majority of commentators see this as the line of kings
to which 17:10 refers. Five of these emperors are referred to as having
already fallen, one as still reigning in John’s time, and another yet
to come. Since Jerusalem had no such line of kings in the first century,
this gives us evidence that the Beast (though not the Whore) is Rome.

    The Ten Horns

The angel also interprets for John the meaning of the Beast’s ten
horns: “And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet
received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one
hour, together with the beast. These are of one mind and give over
their power and authority to the beast; they will make war on the Lamb,
and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of
kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful”
    (17:12–14).

This shows us that the Beast is allied with ten lower rulers and with
their own territories. Some Fundamentalists bent on making this apply
to modern times and the Catholic Church have argued that the horns refer
to the European Community (EC) and a revived Roman empire with the
Catholic Church at its head. The problem is that there are ten kings, but there are now manymore than ten nations in the EC.

However, what we are told about the horns does fit one of the other
candidates we have for the Whore—apostate Jerusalem. The angel tells
John: “And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the
harlot; they will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and
burn her up with fire, for God has put it into their hearts to carry out
his purpose by being of one mind and giving over their royal power to
the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled” (17:16–17).

If the Whore is Jerusalem and the Beast is Rome (with the ten horns
as vassal states), then the prophecy makes perfect sense. The alliance
between the two in persecuting Christians broke down in A.D. 66–70, when
Rome and its allied forces conquered Israel and then destroyed, sacked,
and burned Jerusalem, just as Jesus prophesied (Luke 21:5–24).

    The Whore’s Authority

Finally the angel tells John: “And the woman that you saw is the
great city which has dominion over the kings of the earth” (17:18). This
again points to pagan Rome or apostate Jerusalem. In the case of the
former, the dominion would be political; in the case of the latter, it
could be a number of things. It could be spiritual dominion in that
Jerusalem held the religion of the true God. It could be a reference to
the manipulation by certain Jews and Jewish leaders of gentiles into
    persecuting Christians.

It could even be political, since Jerusalem was the center of
political power in Canaan and, under the authority of the Romans, it
ruled a considerable amount of territory and less powerful peoples. On
this thesis “the kings of the earth” would be “the kings of the land”
(the Greek phrase can be translated either way). Such local rulers of
the land of Canaan would naturally resent Jerusalem and wish to
cooperate with the Romans in its destruction—just as history records
they did. Local non-Jewish peoples were used by the Romans in the
    capture of Jerusalem.

    The hub of world commerce

Continuing in chapter 18, John sees the destruction of the Whore, and
a number of facts are revealed which also show that she cannot be the
Catholic Church. For one, she is depicted as a major center of
international trade and commerce. When it is destroyed in chapter 18, we
read that “the merchants of the earth [or land] weep and mourn for her,
since no one buys their cargo any more” (18:11) and “all shipmasters
and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea . . . wept
and mourned, crying out, ‘Alas, alas, for the great city, where all who
had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth!’” (18:17–19).

Pagan Rome was indeed the hub of world commerce in its day,
supported by its maritime trading empire around the Mediterranean, but
Christian Rome is not the hub of world commerce. After the
Reformation, the economic center of power was located in Germany,
Holland, England, and more recently, in the United States and Japan.

    Persecuting apostles and prophets

When the Whore falls we read, “‘Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice,
saints and apostles and prophets! God has judged her for the way she
treated you’. . . . In her was found the blood of prophets and of the
saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth” (18:20, 24). This
shows that the Whore persecuted not just Christians, but apostles and
prophets. Apostles existed only in the first century, since one of the
requirements for being an apostle was seeing the risen Christ (1 Cor.
9:1). Prophets existed as a group only in the Old Testament and in the
    first century (Acts 11:27–28, 13:1, 15:32, 21:10).

Since the Whore persecuted apostles and prophets, the Whore must have
existed in the first century. This totally demolishes the claim that
Christian Rome or Vatican City is the Whore. Rome was not a Christian
city at that time, and Vatican City did not even exist, so neither of
them could be the Whore. Furthermore, Fundamentalists continually
(though wrongly) claim that Catholicism itself did not exist in the
first century, meaning that based on their very own argument Catholicism could not be the Whore!

Fundamentalists are fond of conjecturing that in the last days there
will be a “revived Roman empire,” such as the one that persecuted
Christians in the first century. Yet they never draw the inference that
this empire would be headed by a revived pagan Rome, with the bishop of Rome leading the Christian underground, just as he did in the first century.

Still, Revelation 18:20 and 18:24 prove that the Whore had to be a
creature of the first century, which, in the Fundamentalist view, the
Catholic Church was not. Thus, on their own view, their identification
of the Catholic Church with the Whore is completely impossible! Only
ancient, pagan Rome or apostate Jerusalem could possibly be the Whore.

If Not the Whore, the Bride

The fact that the Catholic Church is singled out by Fundamentalists
as the Whore reveals that they intuit the fact it has an important role
in God’s plan. No other church gets accused of being the Whore—only the
Catholic Church. And it is understandable why: The Catholic Church is
the largest Christian body, larger than all other Christian bodies put
together, suggesting a prominent place in God’s plan. Fundamentalists
assume, without objectively looking at the evidence, that the Catholic
Church cannot be the Bride of Christ, so it must be the Whore of
    Babylon.

Yet the evidence for its true role is plain. The First Vatican
Council taught that “the Church itself . . . because of its marvelous
propagation, its exceptional holiness, and inexhaustible fruitfulness in
all good works; because of its Catholic unity and invincible stability,
is a very great and perpetual motive of credibility and an
incontestable witness of its own divine mission” (On the Catholic Faith 3).

So why is the Bride maligned as the Whore? Jesus himself answered the
question: “If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how
much more will they malign those of his household” (Matt. 10:25). “If
the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If
you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are
not of the world . . . the world hates you. Remember the word that I
said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they
persecuted me, they will persecute you” (John 15:18–20).

Yeah a church that changed the day of rest from the last day of the week, to the first day of the week and has also changed the seasons or holidays of God and their deep meaning they hold for mankind and even the doctrine or message of Christ – yeah I can see them fighting Christ, in fact, Christ himself teaches this in the pages of the bible for anyone willing to lend an ear to his truth, someday, when you become educated in that truth kingwassabi, you’ll understand, but until then, go on believing the things you do without proving right from wrong for yourself.

If they have called Christ the devil – why is it so hard to understand that they would also call the Catholic Church his bride. This is an interpretation of men – not of God.

Jesus was killed because many hated him – saying, he came from the devil. But they were wrong. So those, who have through the centuries,  followed the Word of God – have also been put to death and will continue to be persecuted until his return.

Theres not much time for world events to play themselves out, keep your eye on Europe and the Vatican especially. As in their past – a revision of the “un”holy Roman Empire will rise again and be the dominant power over the earth to be reckoned with. These very events – such as Beck backing the Catholics are paving the way for Rome to regain her religious/political power over the nations.

Europe is the beast – led by Germany – the Vatican is the great whore who controls this bloodthirsty beast – that is until, as in WWII – Hitler gained total power – then it did its deeds behind the vial of secrecy.

There is an effort now in Europe to form a group of nations (12) that dictate to the other EU member states, this in an effort to save the union and it will succeed. These nations will swear allegiance to Germany and the Pope – that is when the world will witness the deadly beast of Revelation – but by then and at that time, it will be much too late and America ( No thanks to Obama ) have made themselves far too weak and are no threat to this newly formed Superpower.

Don’t you see that as kind of a stretch?
With the rise of secularism, do you really see Europe aligning itself with the Pope?

As far as WW2, I posted this before. Give it a read.

The twentieth century was marked by genocides on an monstrous scale.
One of the most terrible was the Holocaust wrought by Nazi Germany,
which killed an estimated six million European Jews and almost as many
    other victims.

During this dark time, the Catholic Church was shepherded by Pope
Pius XII, who proved himself an untiring foe of the Nazis, determined to
save as many Jewish lives as he could. Yet today Pius XII gets almost
no credit for his actions before or during the war.

    Anti-Catholic
author Dave Hunt writes, “The Vatican had no excuse for its Nazi
partnership or for its continued commendation of Hitler on the one hand
and its thunderous silence regarding the Jewish question on the other
hand. . . . [The popes] continued in the alliance with Hitler until the
end of the war, reaping hundreds of millions of dollars in payments from
the Nazi government to the Vatican.”[1]

    Jack Chick,
infamous for his anti-Catholic comic books, tells us in Smokescreens,
“When World War II ended, the Vatican had egg all over its face. Pope
Pius XII, after building the Nazi war machine, saw Hitler losing his
battle against Russia, and he immediately jumped to the other side when
he saw the handwriting on the wall. . . . Pope Pius XII should have
stood before the judges in Nuremberg. His war crimes were worthy of
    death.”[2]

One is tempted simply to dismiss these accusations, so wildly out of
touch with reality, as the deluded ravings of persons with no sense of
historical truth. This would underestimate the power of such erroneous
charges to influence people: Many take these writers at their word.

Stepping out of the nightmare fantasyland of Hunt and Chick and back
into sunlight of the real world, we discover that, not only was Pius XII
no friend of the Nazis, but that his opposition to them began years
before the War, before he was elected to the papacy, when he was still
Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli, the Vatican Secretary of State.

    On April 28,
1935, four years before the War even started, Pacelli gave a speech that
aroused the attention of the world press. Speaking to an audience of
250,000 pilgrims in Lourdes, France, the future Pius XII stated that the
Nazis “are in reality only miserable plagiarists who dress up old
errors with new tinsel. It does not make any difference whether they
flock to the banners of social revolution, whether they are guided by a
false concept of the world and of life, or whether they are possessed by
the superstition of a race and blood cult.”[3] It
was talks like this, in addition to private remarks and numerous notes
of protest that Pacelli sent to Berlin in his capacity as Vatican
Secretary of State, that earned him a reputation as an enemy of the Nazi
    party.

The Germans were likewise displeased with the reigning pontiff, Pius
XI, who showed himself to be a unrelenting opponent of the new German
“ideals”—even writing an entire encyclical, Mit Brennender Sorge (1937),
to condemn them. When Pius XI died in 1939, the Nazis abhorred the
prospect that Pacelli might be elected his successor.

    Dr. Joseph
Lichten, a Polish Jew who served as a diplomat and later an official of
the Jewish Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, writes: “Pacelli had
obviously established his position clearly, for the Fascist governments
of both Italy and Germany spoke out vigorously against the possibility
of his election to succeed Pius XI in March of 1939, though the cardinal
secretary of state had served as papal nuncio in Germany from 1917 to
1929. . . . The day after his election, the Berlin Morgenpost said: ‘The
election of cardinal Pacelli is not accepted with favor in Germany
because he was always opposed to Nazism and practically determined the
policies of the Vatican under his predecessor.’ “[4]

    Former
Israeli diplomat and now Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Pinchas Lapide states
that Pius XI “had good reason to make Pacelli the architect of his
anti-Nazi policy. Of the forty-four speeches which the Nuncio Pacelli
had made on German soil between 1917 and 1929, at least forty contained
attacks on Nazism or condemnations of Hitler’s doctrines. . . . Pacelli,
who never met the Führer, called it ‘neo-Paganism.’ “[5]

A few weeks after Pacelli was elected pope, the German Reich’s Chief
Security Service issued a then-secret report on the new Pope. Rabbi
    Lapide provides an excerpt:

    “Pacelli has
already made himself prominent by his attacks on National Socialism
during his tenure as Cardinal Secretary of State, a fact which earned
him the hearty approval of the Democratic States during the papal
elections. . . . How much Pacelli is celebrated as an ally of the
Democracies is especially emphasized in the French Press.”[6]

Unfortunately, joy in the election of a strong pope who would
continue Pius XI’s defiance of the Nazis was darkened by the ominous
political developments in Europe. War finally came on September 1, 1939,
when German troops overran Poland. Two days later Britain and France
    declared war on Germany.

    Early in
1940, Hitler made an attempt to prevent the new Pope from maintaining
the anti-Nazi stance he had taken before his election. He sent his
underling, Joachim von Ribbentrop, to try to dissuade Pius XII from
following his predecessor’s policies. “Von Ribbentrop, granted a formal
audience on March 11, 1940, went into a lengthy harangue on the
invincibility of the Third Reich, the inevitability of a Nazi victory,
and the futility of papal alignment with the enemies of the Führer. Pius
XII heard von Ribbentrop out politely and impassively. Then he opened
an enormous ledger on his desk and, in his perfect German, began to
recite a catalogue of the persecutions inflicted by the Third Reich in
Poland, listing the date, place, and precise details of each crime. The
audience was terminated; the Pope’s position was clearly unshakable.”[7]

The Pope secretly worked to save as many Jewish lives as possible
from the Nazis, whose extermination campaign began its most intense
phase only after the War had started. It is here that the anti-Catholics
try to make their hay: Pius XII is charged either with cowardly silence
or with outright support of the Nazi extermination of millions of
    Jews.

Much of the impetus to smear the Vatican regarding World War II came,
appropriately enough, from a work of fiction—a stage play called The
Deputy, written after the War by a little-known German Protestant
    playwright named Rolf Hochhuth.

    The play
appeared in 1963, and it painted a portrait of a pope too timid to speak
out publicly against the Nazis. Ironically, even Hochhuth admitted that
Pius XII was materially very active in support of the Jews. Historian
Robert Graham explains: “Playwright Rolf Hochhuth criticized the Pontiff
for his (alleged) silence, but even he admitted that, on the level of
action, Pius XII generously aided the Jews to the best of his ability.
Today, after a quarter-century of the arbitrary and one-sided
presentation offered the public, the word ‘silence’ has taken on a much
wider connotation. It stands also for ‘indifference,’ ‘apathy,’
    ‘inaction,’ and, implicitly, for anti-Semitism.”[8]

Hochhuth’s fictional image of a silent (though active) pope has been
transformed by the anti-Catholic rumor mill into the image of a silent
and inactive pope—and by some even into an actively pro-Nazi monster. If
there were any truth to the charge that Pius XII was silent, the
silence would not have been out of moral cowardice in the face of the
Nazis, but because the Pope was waging a subversive, clandestine war
against them in an attempt to save Jews.

    “The need to
refrain from provocative public statements at such delicate moments was
fully recognized in Jewish circles. It was in fact the basic rule of all
those agencies in wartime Europe who keenly felt the duty to do all
that was possible for the victims of Nazi atrocities and in particular
for the Jews in proximate danger of deportation to ‘an unknown
destination.’ “[9] The negative consequences of speaking out strongly were only too well known.

    “In one
tragic instance, the Archbishop of Utrecht was warned by the Nazis not
to protest the deportation of Dutch Jews. He spoke out anyway and in
retaliation the Catholic Jews of Holland were sent to their death. One
of them was the Carmelite philosopher, Edith Stein.”[10]

While the armchair quarterbacks of anti-Catholic circles may have
wished the Pope to issue, in Axis territory and during wartime, ringing,
propagandistic statements against the Nazis, the Pope realized that
such was not an option if he were actually to save Jewish lives rather
than simply mug for the cameras.

    The desire to
keep a low profile was expressed by the people Pius XII helped. A
Jewish couple from Berlin who had been held in concentration camps but
escaped to Spain with the help of Pius XII, stated: “None of us wanted
the Pope to take an open stand. We were all fugitives, and fugitives do
not wish to be pointed at. The Gestapo would have become more excited
and would have intensified its inquisitions. If the Pope had protested,
Rome would have become the center of attention. It was better that the
Pope said nothing. We all shared this opinion at the time, and this is
    still our conviction today.”[11]

While the U.S., Great Britain, and other countries often refused to
allow Jewish refugees to immigrate during the war, the Vatican was
issuing tens of thousands of false documents to allow Jews to pass
secretly as Christians so they could escape the Nazis. What is more, the
financial aid Pius XII helped provide the Jews was very real. Lichten,
Lapide, and other Jewish chroniclers record those funds as being in the
millions of dollars—dollars even more valuable then than they are now.

In late 1943, Mussolini, who had been at odds with the papacy all
through his tenure, was removed from power by the Italians, but Hitler,
fearing Italy would negotiate a separate peace with the Allies, invaded,
took control, and set up Mussolini again as a puppet ruler. It was in
this hour, when the Jews of Rome themselves were threatened—those whom
the Pope had the most direct ability to help—that Pius XII really showed
    his mettle.

Joseph Lichten records that on September 27, 1943, one of the Nazi
commanders demanded of the Jewish community in Rome payment of one
hundred pounds of gold within thirty-six hours or three hundred Jews
would be taken prisoner. When the Jewish Community Council was only able
to gather only seventy pounds of gold, they turned to the Vatican.

    “In his
memoirs, the then Chief Rabbi Zolli of Rome writes that he was sent to
the Vatican, where arrangements had already been made to receive him as
an ‘engineer’ called to survey a construction problem so that the
Gestapo on watch at the Vatican would not bar his entry. He was met by
the Vatican treasurer and secretary of state, who told him that the Holy
Father himself had given orders for the deficit to be filled with gold
    vessels taken from the Treasury.”[12]

    Pius XII also
took a public stance concerning the Jews of Italy: “The Pope spoke out
strongly in their defense with the first mass arrests of Jews in 1943,
and L’Osservatore Romano carried an article protesting the internment of
Jews and the confiscation of their property. The Fascist press came to
call the Vatican paper ‘a mouthpiece of the Jews.’ “[13]

    Prior to the
Nazi invasion, the Pope had been working hard to get Jews out of Italy
by emigration; he now was forced to turn his attention to finding them
hiding places. “The Pope sent out the order that religious buildings
were to give refuge to Jews, even at the price of great personal
sacrifice on the part of their occupants; he released monasteries and
convents from the cloister rule forbidding entry into these religious
houses to all but a few specified outsiders, so that they could be used
as hiding places. Thousands of Jews—the figures run from 4,000 to
7,000—were hidden, fed, clothed, and bedded in the 180 known places of
refuge in Vatican City, churches and basilicas, Church administrative
buildings, and parish houses. Unknown numbers of Jews were sheltered in
Castel Gandolfo, the site of the Pope’s summer residence, private homes,
hospitals, and nursing institutions; and the Pope took personal
responsibility for the care of the children of Jews deported from
    Italy.”[14]

    Rabbi Lapide
records that “in Rome we saw a list of 155 convents and
monasteries—Italian, French, Spanish, English, American, and also
German—mostly extraterritorial property of the Vatican . . . which
sheltered throughout the German occupation some 5,000 Jews in Rome. No
less than 3,000 Jews found refuge at one time at the Pope’s summer
residence at Castel Gandolfo; sixty lived for nine months at the Jesuit
Gregorian University, and half a dozen slept in the cellar of the
    Pontifical Bible Institute.”[15]

    Notice in
particular that the Pope was not merely allowing Jews to be hidden in
different church buildings around Rome. He was hiding them in the
Vatican itself and in his own summer home, Castel Gandolfo. His success
in protecting Italian Jews against the Nazis was remarkable. Lichten
records that after the War was over it was determined that only 8,000
Jews were taken from Italy by the Nazis[16] —far
less than in other European countries. In June,1944, Pius XII sent a
telegram to Admiral Miklos Horthy, the ruler of Hungary, and was able to
halt the planned deportation of 800,000 Jews from that country.

    The Pope’s
efforts did not go unrecognized by Jewish authorities, even during the
War. The Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Isaac Herzog, sent the Pope a
personal message of thanks on February 28, 1944, in which he said: “The
people of Israel will never forget what His Holiness and his illustrious
delegates, inspired by the eternal principles of religion which form
the very foundations of true civilization, are doing for us unfortunate
brothers and sisters in the most tragic hour of our history, which is
living proof of divine Providence in this world.”[17]

    Other Jewish
leaders chimed in also. Rabbi Safran of Bucharest, Romania, sent a note
of thanks to the papal nuncio on April 7, 1944: “It is not easy for us
to find the right words to express the warmth and consolation we
experienced because of the concern of the supreme pontiff, who offered a
large sum to relieve the sufferings of deported Jews. . . . The Jews of
Romania will never forget these facts of historic importance.”[18]

    The Chief
Rabbi of Rome, Israel Zolli, also made a statement of thanks: “What the
Vatican did will be indelibly and eternally engraved in our hearts. . . .
Priests and even high prelates did things that will forever be an honor
    to Catholicism.”[19]

After the war, Zolli became a Catholic and, to honor the Pope for
what he had done for the Jews and the role he had played in Zolli’s
conversion, took the name “Eugenio”—the Pope’s given name—as his own
baptismal name. Zolli stressed that his conversion was for theological
reasons, which was certainly true, but the fact that the Pope had worked
so hard on behalf of the Jews no doubt played a role in inspiring him
to look at the truths of Christianity.

    Lapide
writes: “When Zolli accepted baptism in 1945 and adopted Pius’s
Christian name of Eugene, most Roman Jews were convinced that his
conversion was an act of gratitude for wartime succor to Jewish refugees
and, repeated denials not withstanding, many are still of his opinion.
Thus, Rabbi Barry Dov Schwartz wrote in the summer issue, 1964, of
Conservative Judaism: ‘Many Jews were persuaded to convert after the
war, as a sign of gratitude, to that institution which had saved their
    lives.’ “[20]

    In Three
Popes and the Jews Lapide estimated the total number of Jews that had
been spared as a result of Pius XII’s throwing the Church’s weight into
the clandestine struggle to save them. After totaling the numbers of
Jews saved in different areas and deducting the numbers saved by other
causes, such as the praiseworthy efforts of some European Protestants,
“The final number of Jewish lives in whose rescue the Catholic Church
had been the instrument is thus at least 700,000 souls, but in all
probability it is much closer to . . . 860,000.”[21] This
is a total larger than all other Jewish relief organizations in Europe,
combined, were able to save. Lapide calculated that Pius XII and the
Church he headed constituted the most successful Jewish aid organization
in all of Europe during the war, dwarfing the Red Cross and all other
    aid societies.

    This fact
continued to be recognized when Pius XII died in 1958. Lapide’s book
records the eulogies of a number of Jewish leaders concerning the Pope,
and far from agreeing with Jack Chick that he deserved death because of
his “war crimes,” Jewish leaders praised the man highly:[22]

“We share the grief of the world over the death of His Holiness Pius
XII. . . . During the ten years of Nazi terror, when our people passed
through the horrors of martyrdom, the Pope raised his voice to condemn
the persecutors and to commiserate with their victims” (Golda Meir,
Israeli representative to the U.N. and future prime minister of
    Israel).

“With special gratitude we remember all he has done for the
persecuted Jews during one of the darkest periods in their entire
history” (Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress).

“More than anyone else, we have had the opportunity to appreciate the
great kindness, filled with compassion and magnanimity, that the Pope
displayed during the terrible years of persecution and terror” (Elio
Toaff, Chief Rabbi of Rome, following Rabbi Zolli’s conversion).

    Finally, let
us conclude with a quotation from Lapide’s record that was not given at
the death of Pius XII, but was given after the War by the most
well-known Jewish figure of this century, Albert Einstein: “Only the
Catholic Church protested against the Hitlerian onslaught on liberty. Up
till then I had not been interested in the Church, but today I feel a
great admiration for the Church, which alone has had the courage to
struggle for spiritual truth and moral liberty.

Anyone can believe what is clearly stated in the bible – the problem is, the stubborn heart of man – we must first humble ourselves and God is only then able to give us true understanding – What this world is now witnessing – today – is the beginning of a brutal process, that will humble all of mankind and then in a future resurrection, all men who never knew or understood the simple words of God, will have their first crack at living forever.

“By their fruits”..  you say?  Regardless of any good deeds done in the name of the Catholic Church, it is also responsible for nearly every evil thing ever blamed on Christianity, from the mass genocide of most of the original Christians, to the Crusades, the inquisitions and centuries of child abuse.

Are you aware that back in the 60′s before abortion was legalized in every state there were many non-profit organizations throughout the country that helped girls go from states where it was illegal to states where it was legal to get abortions, and many of those were run by Catholic groups. So why all this piety where abortions are concerned now?

If individual Christians cannot pay the price of their sins with good deeds and earn their way into heaven, what makes you think an organized congregation is capable of such?

When – in sight of all the world – the Pope calls fire to rain down from heaven, this miraculous event will seal the deal and millions will flock to the mother church. Within a very short span of time the world will be plunged into a third world war provoked by the tiny nation of Iran. That is where the failed policies of the Obama administration are leading – we could avert this stupidity today if we were to face the fact that Iran must be dealt with – but American policy is one of ignoring facts and becoming ignorant and vulnerable as a result. OTHER NATIONS ARE NOT AS SILLY AND NAIVE AS WE and within a very short amount of time, prophetic events will prove this – and to our shame.

Throughout the years the true Church of God has gone astray and from time to time Jesus (the one who leads it) must take action and steer them back on the corrective path.

You seem to think the Catholics have gone astray – not so – you first must believe the truth of God in order to go astray – the Catholics did all they could to hold on to Pagan tradition all the while mixing in just the right amount of Jesus to keep Rome from burning forever and it has worked out rather well for the coffers wouldn’t you say?

The Church NEVER authorized “underground railroads” for girls to have abortions.
You’re not making any sense. If a baptist rapes a child, it doesn’t mean the baptist church authorizes rape.

“If individual Christians cannot pay the price of their sins with
good deeds and earn their way into heaven, what makes you think an
organized congregation is capable of such?”

I don’t understand what you mean here. I don’t believe ONLY Catholics will go to heaven. And I don’t think all priests and bishops automatically go either.

Inquisition? ALL Christian denominations had some kind of “inquisition”. You need a little education on it.

When it comes to Catholic urban legends, the granddaddy
of them all is the Spanish Inquisition. From sixteenth-century
Elizabethan England to twenty-first-century Fundamentalism, the Spanish
Inquisition has served as the source and summit of anti-Catholic
    rhetoric.

The Spanish Inquisition contains all the elements of a classic
Catholic urban legend. A distorted historical understanding shared by
Catholics and non-Catholics alike makes a useful club against any
position taken by the Church today in the public arena. Any Catholic
apologist or spokesperson for a Catholic position in contemporary
culture knows this. It is virtually impossible to engage in any
discussion without someone raising the Spanish Inquisition to score
    effective, if irrelevant, debating points.

The Spanish Inquisition carries the whole nine yards. It’s the story
of the Church as the enemy of freedom, of burning heretics in autos-da-fe,
and ghastly engines of torture worked by cackling monks. It is the
world of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Pit and the Pendulum” and innocent
Bible-believers martyred for their faith. It’s part of a papal-dominated
“dark ages” that hurled Spain backwards in time, only truly beginning
to emerge after the fall of Franco in the twentieth century.

The historical reality of the Spanish Inquisition has its own
tragedies, without a doubt, and it remains an ugly part of Europe’s
past. The Spanish Inquisition was surely on the mind of Pope John Paul
II when he made the Millennium apology for the wrongs of the past. But
the real history of the Spanish Inquisition is far from the caricature
that most people carry as part of their anti-Catholic cultural baggage.
What we allege to know of the Spanish Inquisition is often little more
    than post-Reformation propaganda.

    Prejudicial Roots

The real Spanish Inquisition came late to European history. The
classic inquisition that existed in various parts of Europe in the
thirteenth and fourteenth centuries had little impact on the Spanish
peninsula. The Inquisition was nonexistent in Spain or Portugal at that
time. It was only after the mid-fifteenth century that the Spanish
Inquisition developed. And its primary target was not so-called
“heretics.” The ugly truth of the Spanish Inquisition is that it was
aimed primarily at descendants of Jewish converts who were accused of
secretly practicing their old faith. And the motivating factor may have
been greed, jealously, and racial pogroms, rather than preservation of
    the unity of faith.

Spain was unique in Western Europe for the racial diversity of its
population. In addition to a large Muslim population, Spain had the
single largest Jewish community in the world in the thirteenth century,
numbering about 100,000. For centuries, Jews and Christians had lived
together in a generally peaceful, if separate, coexistence.

In the summer of 1391, however, this was shattered in Spain when
angry anti-Jewish riots erupted. Whether these riots were racial,
nationalistic, or religious in origin—and this is still disputed among
historians—the result was mass conversions to Christianity among the
Jewish population. There is little doubt that many, if not most, of
these conversions were forced. And many certainly converted to save
    their own lives.

These Jewish converts from the fourteenth century would be called conversos (or the more scornful term, marranos)
as a means to distinguish them from traditional “old” Christian
families. That identity would remain with such families for years. Over
time, these converso families were allowed to integrate fully
into Spanish society. In many cases, their Jewish religious identity and
heritage were lost. They fully participated in Spanish life and
practiced the Christian faith, and many became leaders in government,
science, business and the Church. Though it was eventually legislated
that those forced to convert could return to Jewish practice, many did
    not.

These converso families stirred up the forces and prejudices that dominated the Spanish Inquisition. The “old Christians,” jealous of the conversos’ success and their growing wealth, saw them as opportunists and invented their own urban legend—that these conversos
dominating Spanish life were secretly maintaining the faith of their
ancestors. This legend was one of the major motivating factors of the
    Spanish Inquisition.

    Pursuit of “Secret Jews”

In the fifteenth century, Spain was engaged with the Muslims in the Reconquista
of the Iberian peninsula. The two traditional kingdoms of Aragon and
Castile, united through the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabella, finally
conquered the Muslim region of Granada in 1492. In the kingdom of
Castile, anti-converso sentiment and anti-Semitism had risen dramatically during the nationalistic fervor of the Reconquista. The conversos
in many ways were viewed as worse than the Jews because they were
“backsliders” who had access to privilege and position. A new
anti-Semitism was on the rise in Spain as it was forging a national
identity and unity. An inquisition was deemed necessary to root out the
    “false” conversos.

In 1478, Frederick and Isabella requested a papal bull establishing
an inquisition. It was granted, and by 1482 the inquisition had been
placed under the Dominican Friar Tomas de Torquemada.

Why did the monarchs want an inquisition? Ostensibly, the reason was investigation of the allegations against the conversos
as having secretly returned to the Jewish faith. They also wanted to
assure unity of faith throughout the peninsula. But there was also a
burning desire—not necessarily felt by the monarchs, but certainly
shared by the enemies of conversos—to confiscate converso wealth, and to kick them out of public life so that the “old Christian” families could take their place.

But even at this early point in the history of the Spanish
Inquisition, the papacy was having second thoughts. Pope Sixtus IV
(1471-1484) complained about the activities of the inquisition in Aragon
and its treatment of the conversos. But, as throughout much of
Europe, the papacy had lost much control over the actions of local
inquisitions. Pope Innocent VIII (1484-1492) complained fruitlessly as
well. The inquisition in Spain was controlled by Spanish authorities,
not the authority of the papacy.

In March 1492 Ferdinand and Isabella ordered the expulsion—or
conversion—of the remaining Jews in Spain. Indeed, the hope on their
part was conversion. Most evidence indicates that their motivation was
religious. But whatever their motivation, the results were twofold.
First, many Jews fled. Second, a large number converted—which naturally
aggravated the popular picture of “secret Jews” within the Christian
    community of Spain.

As a result, through 1530 the primary activity of the Spanish Inquisition was aimed at pursuing alleged conversos.
Records of the Spanish Inquisition show that virtually the only
“heresy” prosecuted was the alleged secret practice of the Jewish faith.
Some two thousand people from the beginning of the Spanish Inquisition
through 1530 were convicted conversos. Many of these had already fled; they were burned in effigy.

    Stronghold of the Faith

As the Lutheran revolt and its various offshoots spread across
Europe after 1530, the Spanish Inquisition became entrenched as a means
to protect the faith in Spain from the infiltration of Protestant ideas,
but also most certainly to buttress royal power. Yet, for numerous
reasons unique to Spain, Protestant ideas never took hold at all.

The image of the Spanish Inquisition torturing and killing hundreds
of thousands of simple Bible-believing Protestants has no basis
whatsoever in historical fact because there were virtually no
    Protestants in Spain.

During the Reformation period in Spain, the Spanish Inquisition
certainly looked for evidence of Protestantism. Contemporary trends were
viewed suspiciously even when those investigated were clearly Catholic
in their origins. Prior to 1558, historians estimate that there were
probably fewer than fifty cases of alleged Lutheranism among Spaniards
that came to the notice of the Spanish Inquisition.

In the late 1550s, however, a small group of Protestants, possibly
numbering about 120, was discovered. The crown reacted in horror. Though
Spain anticipated a tidal wave of revelations and discoveries of
pseudo-Protestants, in the 1560s secular authorities rounded up only
    about two hundred so-called Protestants.

In the last decades of the sixteenth century, perhaps an additional
two hundred were accused of being followers of Luther. But it is
generally conceded that most of these were far from Protestants. As in
many parts of Europe during the inquisitions, the alleged heretics were
really those who had perhaps made crude—usually drunken—irreligious
sentiments, or were prosecuted more for anti-clericalism than any great
    apostasy.

The Spanish Inquisition continued to exist until its formal abolition
in 1834, though by 1730 most of its worst offenses were in the past.
For the most part, it remained as it had been: aimed primarily at
Catholic conversos of Jewish heritage and, later, similar converts from Islam.

    No Cackling Monks

But what of the cackling monks wielding gruesome instruments of torture, and heretics burned by the thousands in autos-da-fe?

There were no cackling monks. As in any area where an inquisition
operated or in the secular legal system throughout Western Europe, civil
authorities conducted torture to elicit information. While we look back
at this with obvious repulsion, the simple fact is that torture was
commonplace in all judicial systems throughout Western Europe.

How did the Spanish Inquisition function? In many ways, much as
inquisitions functioned elsewhere. An inquisition was announced in a
community, and an “edict of grace” allowed for self-confessing offenses
without serious penalties. By the sixteenth century, inquisition trials
were usually not public, and evidence was collected before the trial
itself. If sufficient proof existed, the person in question was
    arrested.

Since evidence was gathered in advance, the trial was not considered a
means to determine guilt or innocence. Rather, the trial was meant to
solicit confession and conversion. Torture was used to gain information
or confession but not for punishment. It was never conducted by clergy
but by paid professionals representing the secular authorities.

The accused was usually given three opportunities to admit to wrongs.
Unlike the medieval inquisitions in much of Europe, the accused was
allowed legal (though often pretty ineffective) counsel if the goal was
exoneration. Mostly, counsel helped the accused explain the mitigating
circumstances, which typically involved being drunk at the time.

These were church trials, not secular ones, and varying degrees of
penance were pronounced at the conclusion. As in most medieval
inquisitions, the majority of cases did not involve outright heresy.
Charges such as bigamy, lewd living, adultery, and b.asphemy made up the
    routine cases.

The most serious charges—and those most often leveled at the conversos—were
of unrepentant heresy or relapsing into heresy. Those deemed guilty
were turned over to the secular authorities and burned at the stake. It
should be noted that after the bitter persecution of the conversos
in the first two decades of the Spanish Inquisition, very few were
actually executed. Most of the condemned were burned in effigy, as they
would have fled before the inquisition began.

    Public Acts of Penance

The auto-da-fe (literally, “act of faith”) that followed
trials in Spain is the most infamous—and misunderstood—part of the
Spanish Inquisition. Artistic representations of the auto-da-fe
by the anti-Catholic propaganda mill usually consist of wild-eyed
crowds salivating as heretics are tortured and burned in the public
    square.

The reality was that an auto-da-fe was a unique.aspect of
the Spanish Inquisition that involved a public, liturgical act of faith.
Usually held in a public square after the inquisition trial was
concluded, an auto-da-fe involved Mass, prayer, a reading of
the sentences handed down, and a procession of the guilty. It was a
religious act stressing the hoped-for reconciliation of those accused.
The autos-da-fe had no torture and no burning. If execution took place, it did so separately from the auto-da-fe and was far less public.

After the monarchy had abolished the Spanish Inquisition in the
nineteenth century, and with the rise of historical studies based on
research rather than propaganda, a truer image of the Spanish
Inquisition has slowly made its way into the history books. Though not a
part of its history of which the Church is proud, the Spanish
Inquisition is hardly the “black legend” that still grips the popular
    imagination.

History created by Reformation polemics is not history. It is just Catholic urban legend

So  I put all of this  in the big black suitcase, so you’ll know where it is…Oh wait no. I don’t mean to say  “black” suitcase, because you’re black..lol… You may thinks me a racist,.. Ok, I’ll put it in the  brown one. No, that won’t work either…. Even though they come in my name said Jesus, they deceive the many. The bible also states that the whole world is deceived – that would include the world of “religion” would it not? Now if God say’s all religion is wrong and that his truth is all we humans can rely upon – are we to question his wisdom?

Jesus started his church – he kept it in the name of the Father – who is God – It is Gods Church – therefore it is the Church of God not of man, could I make this any simpler for you.

If we are to follow Christ we must do what Christ did – we must keep his Sabbath Holy, and by doing so, will steer us to what day of the week it falls on – this world seems to have forgotten I believe the Commandment starts out “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy” – did Christ observe Easter, bunnies and chocolate ect or did he keep the Passover – for he is the Passover Lamb Slain for the sins of mankind. Did he celibate his birthday or does God himself teach us to observe his Annual Feasts that are very important to him, which represent a sequence of events that will have deep meaning throughout eternity? I could go on – but for one to claim the title of Christian, shouldn’t one at least first discover what that entails and what is expected of him or herself?

When a person seeks out the one true church of God – its really not that difficult to do, its simply a matter of deduction and we are left with only one choice – The Truth Of God.

As far as their doctrine, it comes from man – not God, as far as worship – they worship the Devil and the most pathetic part is, they don’t even realize it, although most Catholics would take issue with that and probably set after me or anyone who claims the same thing with the intention of doing bodily harm.

The Catholic Church is the vessel Satan will use in the not-to-distant-future to try and disrupt the 2nd Coming of the Son of God – he understands he cannot win this battle, his intentions are to destroy as many men and women before they have a chance to understand (once again) the simple words of truth.

If I profess Christ as my saviour and my King, if I pray to him daily, if I ask him to grant me the grace and the strength to follow his commands and not my live by my own, how is that worshiping Satan?

If I give to the poor, if I pray for my enemies, if I believe he is truly God, how am I worshiping satan?

As I said before, a Christian is a person who lives by every word of the bible. This also includes living our lives as closely to that which Jesus (our example) lived.

First a humble attitude is required, we must come before God like innocent children, for before him, we are as nothing and know nothing.

Secondly, we must find his one true church – how is that done? Simple, we must find the Church that speaks the same things Jesus spoke while he was yet alive in the flesh. We must find the Church that observes the same things Jesus observed (including the weekly Sabbaths and of course the Yearly Sabbaths)

Now you’re getting somewhere, but there’s much more – through the Church, one learns what the true meaning of life is all about and what kind of worship is expected of those who claim the name of a Christian. Also, that person will discover – what kind of religious worship is not exceptable before God

Its not those who say Lord Lord, who will become the children of God, but those who are the doers of what He says to do – He will except no other form of worship other then what He has set forth – no matter how hard we humans try.

I have to remind you of the Apostle Paul, this is in addition to what is written below. Remember that Paul was a legal Roman citizen, but he was also a Jew. Paul most likely was a very religious fellow, praying to God in heartfelt manner. I’m certain he asked for the guidance of God from above on more than one occasion, he probably gave alms to the poor and even prayed for his enemies – sound familiar – but what happened to this man who was completely blinded by his own faith and not the required faith it takes to be saved? He was eventually struck down by none other then God himself – this man while having eyes to see, couldn’t understand where he was wrong. No, it took God to strike him down in the middle of a desert with blinders covering his eyes to actually see the truth for what it really is.

My point is this, there are millions of people around this planet, who feel exactly as Paul did before God truly started working with him. That is the work from a deceiving Devil and he is very good at it, he covers all the bases. One who is deceived – is deceived – or that which a person doesn’t know – he doesn’t know he doesn’t know it.

God makes the plain and simple statement that “this whole world is deceived” he also tells all who seek out his truth to “prove all things” – that entails some homework on our behalf, we cannot just take for granted the things that religious sounding people tell us for granted, we must prove what they say, using the living word of God the Holy Bible to guide us.

There is a list of multiple offenses, that is the way God declares it anyway, as I stated before, God set the Sabbath-day on the calender. He intended it be kept and observed each and every week for eternity. It has deep meaning behind its positioning. One more tid-bit of info – his “real living presence” is in the Sabbath – so those who know and understand that fact – when coming together on the Sabbath, are also in the presence of the Divine God himself. There is no other day of the year in which this is possible, except the allocated annual Sabbaths that also have very deep spiritual meaning behind them and which, will be re-established upon his return. For in them, they play out the plan of God concerning mankind and what is and has been taking place on this miserable planet for thousands of years. They are an annual reminder of Why God – Why Human and where it all leads and also, as I said before, will be observed once again by the whole world – even millions of years later wherever we may end up.

Understanding Gods Sabbath and His Holidays – is understanding God. Having no understanding of what is truly important to God is contrary to Him and unacceptable..

In the “gospels” the words of Jesus have been recorded for us – through the eyes of four different authors – one can find where Jesus says, “Many will come in my Name (in other words – speaking of and preaching Christ) – “BUT” – he goes on to say, “will deceive many”

Well that applies to almost all Christian denominations. Are they of the devil as well?
The Lord’s day is when Christians have worshiped from the beginning.

7Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.†  Acts 20:7

2On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 1Corinthians 16:2

16So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,† 17which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
    Colossians 2-16:17

10I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,†

“We keep the eighth day [Sunday] with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead” (Letter of Barnabas 15:6–8 [A.D. 74]).

“Those who were brought up in the ancient order of things [i.e. Jews]
have come to the possession of a new hope, no longer observing the
Sabbath, but living in the observance of the Lord’s day, on which also
our life has sprung up again by him and by his death” (Letter to the Magnesians 8 [A.D. 110]).

“[W]e too would observe the fleshly circumcision, and the Sabbaths,
and in short all the feasts, if we did not know for what reason they
were enjoined [on] you—namely, on account of your transgressions and the
hardness of your heart. . . . [H]ow is it, Trypho, that we would not
observe those rites which do not harm us—I speak of fleshly circumcision
and Sabbaths and feasts? . . . God enjoined you to keep the Sabbath,
and imposed on you other precepts for a sign, as I have already said, on
account of your unrighteousness and that of your fathers . . .” (Dialogue with Trypho the Jew 18, 21 [A.D. 155]).

“But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly,
because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the
darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Savior on the
same day rose from the dead” (First Apology 67 [A.D. 155]).     Justyn Martyr

If one claims the title of Christian, then that person also lives by every word of God. In Gods word, he clearly tell us -”The whole world is deceived” – now that would most certainly include religion – so in answer to your first question – Yes, all religion is a work of a deceiving devil, who holds the whole world hostage to his way of thinking and then he is easily able to sway them to perform such acts such as murder, theft, rape ect ect ect. The God of this world is not the same one Jesus followed – nor is it the one whom he obeyed. Jesus came to earth in hope that we stubborn humans might listen to a message sent with him, by his Father in the heavens above.

It was given to the Jews to keep the Holy Calendar of God. He charged them with keeping the Sabbath (weekly and Annual)  and for thousands of years now they have done a pretty good job, especially considering some of their history. Its not very hard to figure the Sabbath out – that is the weekly Sabbath – see Genesis. It falls on the seventh day. God rested from all of his creative work from the previous six days. This knowledge is easily gained and frankly quite elementary.

Using facts to back your argument should be in fact FACTS. Paul spoke on the first day of the week – after the Sabbath was over. We must remember that at sundown the Sabbath is through, and a new day of the week begins, this is why they were found gathering on the first day of the week – because it was the first day of the week. It was a meeting of like-minded people who wanted a better understanding of the truth of God and being gathered together already (because of the weekly Sabbath) decided to prolong their discussion into the night – on the first day of the week.

On the first day of the week – a work day – was a day for collection of goods – “So that there be no collection when I come” – this is an obvious reference to him coming on the Sabbath and in that way, there readiness would allow no work to be performed on the Sabbath

The new moons were often followed by an annual Sabbath – “let no one judge you for the food or drink” is a result of what takes place on a few annual Sabbaths such as fasting or abstaining from certain foods ect.

I’m telling you, the devil has deceived the whole world into believing a counterfeit gosple – its a gospel about Christ and not the Gospel of Christ – the Day of the Lord has been misunderstood by religion ever since the word was placed in the bible. This Day of the Lord you bring up here is a period of time (about a year actually) that follows on the heals of the soon coming “great tribulation” – it is a day of wrath and of fire and destruction – that description alone implies its not talking about the weekly Sabbath. You have much to learn as do most of the professing Christian world – the good news is, that these events of destruction are going to bring-on the return of Christ to save mankind from himself.

“We keep the 8th day with gladness” – is another reference to the first day of the week – seeing how there are only 7 days making up each and every week. As the bible clearly states it was after the Sabbath on the first day of the week when Jesus Christ Rose from the dead – but – exactly 3-1/2 days before, there was an annual Sabbath – the Passover – that is why there was such a rush to place the dead body of our Lord in a grave. Remember the Sabbath is a day of rest in it no work shall be done, and even burying  the body of Christ would have been considered work by the Father who was witnessing these events from above.  As I have said repeatedly – do not believe men – you will be led astray every time – but prove all things that they be true – then hold on to that which is just and good for it will lead you down the righteous path of life.

The Sabbath is here to stay and to this day – the overwhelming number of Jews keep it.

There are those of the Catholic faith who realize there was never true justification for changing what God himself set in motion – no matter how many books one adds or takes away from the original word of God.

This is an argument you cannot win and someday in the future you will realize that.

There are several books added in the Catholic bible (Apocrypha) that are not consistent with the word of God and in most instances, even contradict the truth. There are one probably two books that men have taken out of the bible – but because of the perfection of God and his understanding of how the mind of man works, he wrote the bible in code – here a little there a little. Once all the pieces of this puzzle come together – that is after God teaches one the truth, lies and counterfeits are easily discerned.

Every word of God means just that – both the old and new testaments have relavent meaning for ones Christian growth. In fact – much, or most of the old testament was not meant to be understood until the “time of the end” – being that these prophetic writtings have now been revealed for over 70 yrs and by God himself – is further proof of where mankind is in his overall journey on this planet.

The Day of the Lord is fast approaching will we be ready?

As I’ve said aready, until each of us humble ourselves before God, allowing him to teach us and proving all things along the way – mankind will never get it.

Yes there are certain Laws that were done away at the beginning of the new testament, but the Sabbath was not one of those things, nor were the commandments of God. Again , the commandments and the weekly, as well as the yearly Sabbaths, will be re-instituted by Christ and his Saints at his return.

contraception is one of the main reasons that women were able to gain rights and liberties, including the right to work outside the home and be treated with dignity in the workplace.  if you don’t like the changes that have happened because of that, that’s your opinion.  but you don’t get to take MY freedoms just because you don’t like that women get to compete with men equally now.

we’re not even talking about abortion here – the arguments are about contraception.  they are two different issues.

Have you ever looked at the differences between the septuagint and the masoretic texts?  The septuagint is a translation, but the oldest texts on hand predate the masoretic.

The Apostles commissioned by Jesus,[5] however, used the Septuagint
(the Old Testament in Greek which contained the Alexandrian canon) most
of the time and must have accepted the Alexandrian canon. For example,
86 percent of Old Testament quotes in the Greek New Testament come
directly from the Septuagint, not to mention numerous linguistic
references. Acts 7 provides an interesting piece of evidence that
justifies the Apostolic use of the Septuagint. In Acts 7:14 St. Stephen
says that Jacob came to Joseph with 75 people. The Masoretic Hebrew
version of Genesis 46:27 says “70,” while the Septuagint’s says “75,”
the number Stephen used. Following the Apostles’ example, Stephen
clearly used the Septuagint.[6] (We also know from other ancient
Christian documents, like the Didache[7] and Pope St. Clement’s Letter
to the Corinthians, that the apostles’ successors not only used the
Septuagint, but quote from all of the books in the Alexandrian canon as
    the authoritative word of God.)

There is no divinely inspired “table of contents” for the
Bible, therefore, Christians need an authority, like the infallible
Church established by Christ, to discern which books are the divinely
inspired ones. (Indeed, even if there were such a “table of contents”
list, we would need an authority to tell if the list itself were
inspired.) Even many Evangelical Protestant Bible scholars admit this:

While we know that at the time of Jesus there were different canons
of the Old Testament because the canonical process was not yet complete,
the glorious truth is that God has invited humans to be partners in the
putting together of Scripture. I think the implications are that you
cannot have Scripture without the community of faith [in other words,
the Church]. It’s not just a private revelation. God gives us Scripture,
but then the [Church], by God’s guidance, has to choose what’s in and
    what’s out.”[8]

Why don’t the Jews accept the Alexandrian canon now, though?
They follow after their predecessors, who around 100 A.D. decided that
the Septuagint which followed the Alexandrian canon had at least two
problems: First, it was written in Greek, which after the destruction of
Jerusalem by Gentiles seemed “un-Jewish” or even “anti-Jewish.”[9]
Second, Christians, following the lead of their apostolic leaders,
widely used the Septuagint, especially in apologetics to the Jews; thus,
non-Christian Jews wanted to deny the value of some of its books, such
as the Book of Wisdom, which contains a profound prophecy of Christ’s
    death.

In the words of Protestant Septuagint scholar Sir Lancelot Benton:

The veneration with which the Jews had treated this [Septuagint] (as
it is shown in the case of [Jewish historians] Philo and Josephus), gave
place to a very contrary feeling when they found how it could be used
against them [i.e., in Christian apologetics]: hence they decried the
[Septuagint] version, and sought to deprive it of any authority.[10]

What are the classic Protestant arguments against the seven
deuterocanonical books? Their major objection is that the
deuterocanonicals contain doctrines and practices, such as the doctrine
of purgatory and praying for the dead, that are irreconcilable with
authentic Scripture. This objection, of course, begs the question. If
the deuterocanon is inspired Scripture, then those doctrines and
practices are not opposed to Scripture but part of Scripture. Another
objection is that the deuterocanonical books “contain nothing
prophetic.” This is clearly proved false by comparing Wisdom 1:16-2:1
and 2:12-24 to Matthew’s passion account, especially Matthew 27:40-43.

Many Protestants also argue that, because neither Jesus nor His
apostles quote the deuterocanonical books, they should be left out of
the Bible. This claim ignores that Jesus nor His apostles do not quote
Ecclesiastes, Esther or the Song of Songs, nor even mention them in the
New Testament; yet Protestants accept these books. Furthermore, the New
Testament quotes and refers to many non-canonical books, like pagan
poetry quoted by Paul and Jewish stories referred to by Jude, which
neither Protestants nor Catholics accept as Scripture. Clearly New
Testament quotation, or the lack thereof, cannot be a reliable indicator
of Old Testament canonicity. (This also begs the question of which
books belong in the New Testament and which do not.)

Other Protestants argue that today’s Jews do not accept the
deuterocanon. This objection is problematic for two reasons. The first
is why the Jews reject those books (see above). These books are rejected
by Jews on the basis of bias against Christianity, something to which
Protestants should not want to support. The second problem is this: Why
should Christians accept the authority of post-Church-establishment,
non-Christians instead of the Apostles of the Church that Christ
founded? Would God found a Church and then let it fall into grave error
concerning the Old Testament canon? This is an untenable position for
    any Christian to take.

Others point to St. Jerome’s “rejection” of deuterocanonical
material. While Jerome was originally suspicious of the “extra” Old
Testament books, which he only knew in Greek, he fully accepted the
judgment of the Church on the matter, as shown in a letter written in
    402 A.D.:

What sin have I committed if I follow the judgment of the churches? .
. . I was not relating my own personal views [when I wrote the
objections of the Jews to the longer form of Daniel in my introduction],
but rather the remarks that [the Jews] are wont to make against us
[Christians who accept the longer form of Daniel], (Against Rufinius,
    11:33, emphasis added).[11]

Remember that Protestants reject the longer, Alexandrian version of Daniel; St. Jerome did not.

Still more Protestants claim that the Church did not
authoritatively define the canon of Scripture until the Council of Trent
and, since that Council was a reaction to the Reformation, the
deuterocanon can be considered an “addition” to the original Christian
canon. This is also incorrect. Regional councils of the early Church had
enumerated the books of the Bible time and again prior to the
Reformation, always upholding the current Catholic canon.[12] Examples
include the Council of Rome (382), the Council of Hippo (393), and the
Third and Fourth Councils of Carthage (397, 418).[13] All of these
affirmed the Catholic canon as we know it today, while none affirmed the
    Protestant canon.

This exact canon also had the total support of important Church
Fathers like St. Augustine (Christian Instruction, 397).[14] In 405,
Pope St. Innocent also taught the Catholic canon in a letter to
Exsuperius, Bishop of Toulouse,[15] the same year that St. Jerome
completed the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible at the request of
the Popes. A thousand years later, while seeking reunion with the Copts,
the Church affirmed the same canon at the ecumenical[16] Council of
Florence in 1442.[17] When the canon became a serious issue following
the Protestant schism in the early 1500s, Trent dogmatically defined
what the Church had consistently taught for more than 1,000 years.

R.C. Sproul, a prominent Protestant theologian, asserts that we
must accept the Bible as a “fallible collection of infallible books,”
and many Protestants find this idea appealing. There are serious
problems with this position however. The chief problem is this: While it
acknowledges that infallible books exist somewhere in the world, it
implies that we can have no guarantee that all, or indeed any, of those
infallible books are in the Bibles Christians use. If the collection is
fallible, the contents are not necessarily the books which are
infallible. How do we know, then, that John’s Gospel, which all
Christians accept, is legitimately Scripture, while the so-called
“Gospel of Thomas,” which all Christians reject, is not? Sproul’s
statement points to the need for an authority outside the Bible so that
we can have an infallible collection of infallible books. It is
ultimately contradictory to believe in the Bible’s infallibility, and
the reliability of its canon, without believing in the Church’s
    infallibility.[18]

To answer the question, “Who decided which books are in the
Bible?” we must inevitably recognize the authoritative Church that
Christ founded, the Church that infallibly discerned with God’s guidance
which books belonged and which didn’t.[19] This means recognizing that
the longer Old Testament canon is the correct one.

    To kingwassabi,

I must tell you, that with the persistence of your inquisitiveness, sooner or later, you will come to a fuller understanding of the Word of God.  Someday – believe it or not, we will come to know each other and will completely agree on the subject of Life and Death, but until that day arrives – sadly, mankind has much to learn and in that excruciating process, there will be much suffering, sadness and tears – thanks be to God, those days will be shortened and soon come to an end and peace and happiness will fill the earth as the waters that now cover the oceans.

Its been a pleasure talking with you this evening, even though we do not see things eye to eye – someday we will and I look forward to that day with eagerness. Well enough said for one day, I’m shutting her down now – have a good evening and keep those prayers going out to the one who matters most, goodnight and God bless. ZEROGON

How dare you tell me what I need to do to enter Heaven.
How arrogant do you have to be to pass judgement on others?
Is your religion superior to all others?
Is your life superior to all others?
“Shame on me”? Shame on you for trying to lecture me with your arrogant, self righteous and unwanted advice!!!
Go back and take a look at yourself. After reading your narcissistic self image, I would begin with humility. Feel free to never right me again.

So it is okay for you to do all that, but not others to do it to you? That my little man is the DEFINITION of HYPOCRISY!!

To all writers out there, please provide bullet lists of the dangers of this healthcare & how it will affect specific areas of our real lives.

Anything is possible if you give this administration permission to “take care of you” because they’ll spontaneously and/or arbitrarily move anything under the umbrella of “healthcare” which is convenient (or “cost-effective for the good of the population).

If you expect them (which is really the rest of us), to pay for your health complications, they’ll have the right to know ANYTHING they want so they can judge if it’s worth it. From who you’ve had sex with, to where you drive.  From what’s in your refrigerator, to eliminating any recreational activities which are too risky.

    Even crazier things.

This administration says the Constitution was created to make it difficult to change.  How much easier will it be to change anything we allow this administration to implement, demand or enforce?

    Good question!

The Catholic Church most certainly did sanction at least some of the programs that provided abortions in the 60′s. I know this as a fact because I was a volunteer in a hospital in Ohio that sent girls to the priests involved and the organization they worked through was a part of the church.

I’m impressed you’re at least capable of copying and pasting. Only problem is, I never mentioned a particular inquisition. By the way, my ancestors fled Europe and the forced conversion of the Catholic church and came to America in the early 1600′s.

I notice however, you left out all the arguments against the other atrocities that this particular congregation has a history of being involved in. And I only listed a few of them and it is in fact the history of the church. Claiming otherwise is just pure and simple denial.

Washington would have revolted right now because of these progressives. I left something at the TFC about the hypocrites on the left in Obama own campaign. You put too much faith in polls. Polls are notoriously inaccurate, which is why the term landslide is often applicable to election upsets. Because of the shenanigans of the Democrats in the last twelve years of putting politics before the people, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a big downturn in the fortunes of Democrats for some time to come.

Obviously you, and millions more around the world agree with your analogy – the trouble is your statement is not biblical, nor can your argument be passed off before God above, as suitable or exceptable.

We all know that the Catholic Church placed Sunday as their Sabbath day, holding a mass on Saturday may seem to you perfectly ok, but time will prove that assumption wrong.

God himself is in charge of the Sabbath , man does not have the authority to replace or change that.

  • Bill Tilghman

Generally speaking, speech refers to the spoken word. I don’t think you will find much that will refute that definition. Actions are not spoken. Writing can be spoken when read aloud. Too many times this part of the Bill of Rights is misinterpreted as, “freedom of expression”, but I think you would be hard pressed to find that language in the text of the Constitution. Transmuting spoken words into the concept of expression is one thing, but deeming the reverse of that to be equivalent is a liberal construct of recent origin.

Hope that clarifies things for you.

  • Bill Tilghman

No, there is nothing wrong with that choice. What is wrong is government mandating funding for procedures that should be an individual choice and then using that funding as a lever to legitimize their own forcing of the issue.

It is an individual’s right to determine if sterilization is best for them, however, it is another thing entirely to make it law, and the same thing holds true for birth control. Federal mandates are an abuse in this case. This is not a question of the right to choose, it is a question of whether the federal government has the right to dictate.

It all becomes quite clear when you understand the intent behind the action.

Maggie I’ve been perplexed over the years by how anyone can consider themselves to be both christian and democrat. They mix like oil and water. You are right in your assessment of the catholic church. The catholic church is by no means liberal. It’s the “cafeteria catholics” that are the liberals. I’ve often asked many of my catholic friends why they even consider themselves catholic when it’s so obvious that they don’t follow the teachings of the church. Either get on board with the church or convert. My biggest gripe with the catholic church is that they never push the bible enough. This goes along with what Sharon stated which is, “If we all follow the commandments and the bible, life would be good.” That’s exactly right. And it takes the onus off the catholic church to teach it’s members about what is right and wrong. In my opinion the catholic church as instituted so many rules and regulations over the centuries that folks are confused about which laws come from God and which ones are manmade. If the catholic church would take the emphasis off the rules and instead emphasize studying the bible, there would be far less confusion. The bible is the greatest moral compass on earth and if christians want to dispute the bible then they are arguing directly with God/Jesus.

What is actually happening behind the headlines of this latest story – Contraptions and the Catholic Church – ?

The Obama White House motors along in it’s daily fundamental changing of America, many nations hostile to the US, could only dream of doing the damage this one man alone has achieved and the saddest denominator of the equation – not one shot has been fired. Whats worse, are the frequent, agonizing daily grins from our commander in chief, as if, he’s laughing in our face. Even those who follow his every word and unpredictable action’s, have not possibly, rationally considered the ‘end game’ and what our once great nation, then, will resemble.

Now the Catholic Church is back in the headlines, this time, seemingly raising the banner for Christ and life and righteousness, even Glenn Beck – a Mormon – is hopping on the bandwagon – enthusiastically rallying those who will listen, with a “one for all and all for one” battle cry. Not long ago he said “we are all Jews” – “now” he say’s, “we are all Catholics.” Will he also go to Europe as he did in Israel to broadcast his program from the Vatican?

Where’s this leading and what forces are really at play behind the scenes of these escalating and troubling world events?

The other day I heard Bill O’Reilly saying – “Once again a persecution of Catholicism is on the rise” Other voices around the nation are chiming in with their version of the same sad song.

Excuse me if I’m not swallowing this latest “tear jerking moment” – How have the Catholics so cleverly changed from being – Religious Persecutor, to becoming Religious Victim? Who threw away the history books, because if a person were to ever get their hands on a copy, what they would discover, tells a completely different story.

This brings me to the crux of my statement,

…..The greater majority of people on earth, are easily manipulated into following along with the crowd. Religious institutions have known this and have taken advantage of this psychological human weakness for centuries. Controlling the masses is a gross understatement. Most – claiming to be “religious” – have never proven for themselves, if there is a God. They are simply carried away by sentimental feelings mustered  from deep within the heartstrings of the human soul. Have they ever taken the time needed to prove for themselves – one way or another – if there is a God or for that matter, if there is a devil. Further, what is more disturbing, not all people who believe in a higher being, believe in a devil. Now at least having that knowledge, it makes it easier for us to fathom, why there are so many people who never ponder the slightest thought to ever question Obama and his alternative motives, but the truth is – evil is all around us and believe it or not, its not natural. Evil comes from the devil and he’s getting better at it all the time.

This then, brings me to the point of my statement,

…..If there were more people who did what God advises and proved beyond the shadow of a doubt the things that are written within the bible,. the world wouldn’t be in the mess it finds itself in today.  By taking on the challenge of God, the student (disciple) will quickly realize, that from one cover of the book of books, to the next – Satan the devil is one of the main themes. In fact, God himself gives him the title – “the god of this world” – now shouldn’t that statement alone make us question ourselves and motivate us to dive into our biblical studies, to prove for ourselves – are we, or are not not, in a place we do not belong. God also clearly relates, “the whole world is deceived” – shouldn’t that get us to at least do some heartfelt and prayerful study to make certain we are not part of those who are deceived. For some odd reason though, most humans think – “it can’t happen to me” and go on with their daily lives submerged in their group mentality – actually helping in the deceiving process of themselves, by woeful lack of preparation and study. Do we really think that God is alright with this human laziness and weakness, or that Satan the devil hasn’t somehow noticed our frailties and our vulnerabilities to exploit them?

    My conclusion,

….Because Satan is the ‘god of this world’ and very few are willing to prove that for themselves, what unfolds in the near future will be vastly different from what most people expect. For this world has been sold a lie and are blind to reality.

The Catholic Church is not a persecuted Church, just the opposite – it always has been, history will prove me right on that point. Satan the devil has used the Church in Rome to do his bidding (not that all other Churches aren’t swayed by his manipulation), but the Catholic Church is his favorite target. The bible tells us, that there will come a time in the very near future, that this persecuting entity will once again, rise to world dominance and bring the world to its knees yet again, in a third world war. God calls this Church “the Great Whore” – strong words those – but, shouldn’t they at least make us pause and take notice to what God is trying to tell us? This great whore is (as we speak) calling her daughters ( other churches using the name of Christianity) back to the fold. The danger lies when commentators such as Beck – O’Reilly – and many others who are helping this profound and very deadly prophetic event along. This world has been living on the edge for far to long now, if humanity doesn’t come out of its hypnotic trance and soon – Armageddon will be at the door.

Don’t feel bad. I don’t regret making the conversion for one minute. Especially since I ended up meeting my lovely wife in the process. The problem is that I started investigating and came upon some inconsistencies between the teachings of the catholic church and the bible. But catholic or protestant, we are all christians first and foremost and we all fight on the same team.

  • Anonymous

Have Catholics always practiced what they’ve preached in this regard?
No. There have been over-zealous Catholics who’ve tried making converts.

But Protestants, too, have been guilty of not always respecting the
freedom of conscience. (One example: John Calvin had Michael Servetus
burned at the stake in Geneva.) Even atheists and secularists have used
force to make converts to their positions. Consider the millions of
people who’ve been killed by or suffered at the hands of communism in
    this century.

Christianity has always affirmed freedom of conscience, even if
Christians haven’t always lived up to this teaching. Atheism and
secularism, by denying the existence of God, claim there’s no one to
answer to and, therefore, nothing to answer for.

And just because a Priest in a particular parish may have done that, doesn’t mean the act was sanctioned by the Church. If what you say is true, the priests you were talking about went against the Churches teachings and committed a grave sin.

Something very noteworthy to watch for in the coming days – there is bible prophecy explaining how a European Dictator will soon come into power – not by vote, but by flatteries – as I’ve said above, the Catholic Church is a major tool in the hands of “dark forces” – as of this week, the German President resigned opening the door for this prophecy to be fulfilled.

One very prominent name to remember is – Baron ( meaning – Ruler of the Holy Roman Empire) Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg – his wife Stephanie, stems from the well known Bismark family and members of the zu Guttenberg family, have served in high positions of past eras, of the Holy Roman Empire such as Leopold II.

This family has great respect in their hometown region of Bavaria, coincidentally, the same neck-of-the-woods that residing Pope Benedict comes from. In fact, both families know each other rather well and of course are both Catholic.

Will the beloved zu Guttenberg smooth-talk his way into office and become the next political Dictator over Europe? Time will tell, but even odds makers in Vegas might not pass on this one.

Great Idea, Glenn! I’m looking forward to the expansion of your campaign, where you proclaim, “We are all Catholics, believers in the core principle of Catholic Social teaching, Social Justice”!

  • Deane Burbank

I have mixed feelings about this effort–and FL Senator Rubio’s similar proposal (the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012″).  While of course conscience protection needs to be made law, I question the wisdom of doing so via amendment(s) to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (not so affectionately nicknamed “Obamacare”).  The PPACA is bad law (actually, the word “evil” comes to mind…).  By seeking to affix a conscious protection clause to it, I fear that this bad law will then be seen as not so bad after all.  The PPACA is so bad that it needs to be repealed.  It can’t be fixed with amendments.  It needs to be scrapped altogether and replaced with an entirely new piece of legislation.  Simply attaching something good to something that is very bad doesn’t make the bad any better; it’s simply a bandaid.  Furthermore, if conscience protection is added to the PPACA and later the PPACA is repealed, there goes that hard-won conscience protection with it.  Better (in my humble opinion) to make conscience protection a law that would stand on its own and would have to be applied to any and all health care legislation.

Clouddancer1 I’m just speaking from my personal experience. The catholics I knew and grew up with, were and are, still quite liberal. You may be right but I can only attest for what I’ve experienced. Again I believe the catholic church is very conservative but it’s followers in large part, are not. Heck I have family members  who are catholic and they are as liberal as the day is long. Please keep in mind that I didn’t leave the catholic church simply because it’s followers were liberal. I mean I didn’t like the attitude at all but he number one reason I left was for a difference in ideology. I’m of the mind that if God/Jesus didn’t make the rule then we shouldn’t be following it. But that is my own personal situation. The big issue for all of is Obama’s attack on christianity. And as you said we need to stand together on this issue. A

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tommy-ODonnell/1398293207 Tommy O’Donnell

Grace I apologize for not being clearer on this issue. You are correct in saying that no one should ever empower the liberals. I didn’t leave the catholic church simply because of the pervasive liberal views of it’s members. As I mentioned to Clouddanceer I left the catholic church predominately because of theological differences. However it was the liberal attitude of my fellow catholics that prompted my conversion. I was very frustrated with the way my fellow catholics behaved. Their behavior wasn’t in sync with the teachings of the bible. And the “conservative” catholic church, in my opinion, never did much to rectify these inconsistencies. If the church simply encouraged it’s members to seek life’s answers in the bible, life would much clearer to those who read it. However this entire issue is about my own personal journey. And that’s not important right now. The big issue is Obama’s shameful attack on christianity. All christians need to band together and stop Dr. Evil.

“Cafeteria Catholics”–these people you label as such are not and should not be considered Catholics. A Catholic should not pick and choose what they want to believe in in the Catholic faith. You either have to believe all, and choose to live in all, or they should  not consider themselves Catholic. I am a Cradle Catholic, and it wasn’t until I became an adult, a mother of my children, that I decided I wanted to learn as much as I could about the Catholic Faith in which I felt I did not know very well, and when I studied, I learned the “why’s” of my Faith and then I understood why we believe in the things we believe in. Do not pick and choose in your beautiful Catholic Faith, maybe you just need to learn more about it. And I also have to say that there are a lot of misconceptions about the Catholic Faith which are untrue. Learn the Faith and you will see. God Bless. Pray for the unborn! Prolife–everyone deserves to live!
