Fox News viewers the least informed?

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

Another ridiculous poll says Fox viewers are the dumbest, but Glenn set out on radio this morning to prove otherwise.

The study, conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, found that NPR listeners were the most informed while FOX News viewers were at the bottom, even falling behind people who claim to not watch any news programming. The participants were judged based on answers to a series of domestic and international questions.

The study concluded:

… that media sources have a significant impact on the number of questions that people were able to answer correctly. The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly — a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all. On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only The Daily Show with Jon Stewart could answer about 1.42 questions correctly.

The Blaze noted that the methodology oversampled Republicans “to get a better estimate of the Republican voting process,” but also increased the Republican margin of error.

What were some of the questions?

1) To the best of your knowledge, have the opposition groups protesting in Egypt been successful in removing Hosni Mubarak?
2) How about the opposition groups in Syria? Have they been successful in removing Bashar al-Assad?
3) Some countries in Europe are deeply in debt, and have had to be bailed out by other countries. To the best of your knowledge, which country has had to spend the most money to bail out European countries?
4) There have been increasing talks about economic sanctions against Iran. What are these sanctions supposed to do?
5) Which party has the most seats in the House of Representatives right now?
6) In December, House Republicans agreed to a short-term extension of a payroll tax cut, but only if President Obama agreed to do what? (Open-Ended)
7) It took a long time to get the final results of the Iowa caucuses for Republican candidates. In the end, who was declared the winner? (Open-Ended)
8) How about the New Hampshire Primary? Which Republican won that race? (Open-Ended)
9) According to the figures, about what percentage of Americans are currently unemployed? (Open-Ended)

Not convinced that FOX viewers were the least informed, Glenn invited a fan to answer the questions and unsurprisingly, he was able to give the right answers.

Typical of the polls by the leftist propaganda machinery; skewed to make sure the goals they want to achieve are achieved, and if they do not happen, then they will fabricate the data as they want to do anyhow.

Why do they not just come out and admit that they are frauds and liars?

  • http://www.facebook.com/eschannen Eric Schannen

    I disagree with this poll.

A university should do a poll on the GBTV viewers.

GBTV viewers are dumber than a bag of rocks.

Why did you have to insult a bag of rocks?  Fox news is like a religion, you have to be a person of faith to believe what their telling you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/eschannen Eric Schannen

FOX wasn’t created to inform its viewers but to indoctrinate them.

    Fox is pure propaganda.

Another stupid comment from a moron. Maybe Fox should doctor 911 tapes to make Zimmerman look like a racist. Fool.

    • Sunshine Kid

Frankly, ALL news media are skewed one way or another.  I have yet to find a news media that just reports what’s happening without putting their own spin on things.

You like to pick on Fox, as does some others, simply because it doesn’t toe the line of other lame stream media outlets, but never seem to have a problem with MSNBC’s offerings that are absurd to the point of it would take an idiot to believe some of its garbage, even to the point of quoting a comedian’s sarcastic wit as “news”, yet I have never seen one comment from you or your trolls putting down a stupid off-the-wall comment by a competing news outlet; your whole attack is at ONE news source.

When you can be fair (or even balanced), we might have some reasonable discussions.

  • landofaahs

Frankly, I only listen to FOX news on Sat. mornings 900-1100 am central for business programs.  I have not watched television in I don’t know how long.  The multiple computers and xm radio is my news source. The only exception is the Bible, the source of truth.  I laugh at people who think they are informed when I know that black propaganda is so prevalant that the truth of world affairs will only be revealed when Christ returns.  Even those who are in the know are limited because of the constant games of deception by all countries and institutions.  But you will always have liars and dumbasses claim they know the minutia of current events.

    • Anonymous

You said the bible is your source of truth.  You believe in a book that tells you it’s okay to own slaves.  You believe in a book that tells you, if your neighbor works on the sabbath he’s to be stoned to death?  You believe in that book?  What’s wrong with you?

      • Anonymous

Just another true Christian that is whats wrong.  Maybe some day you can say that you finally believe the only single truth there is. The Bible. If not you might want to put on some 1 million spf sunblock that last forever. Submit to Jesus Christ for the fear of pain and forever suffering or submit to him because he loved you even as you hate him now. The main point is that you must get saved because Obama, George Bush, Fox News, MSNBC, or Oprah is not going to keep you or anyone else out of Hell.

Thing is, dgyrownhol, that slavery is not current, but homosexuality actually IS.  According to Romans, in the New Testament mind you, a man who sleeps with a man the same way he would sleep with a woman is an ABOMINATION in the eyes of God.  This is according to Romans.  Now, you do know what abomination means, don’t you.  Homosexuality, unlike slavery, IS current and IS as much a sin now as it was then.

You might note that the Koran also advocates slaves.  It also promotes stoning to death, physical removal of body parts and so forth.  Does that make you feel any better to know you are so good at religion?

Christians don’t practice stoning to death, but Muslims do to this day.  Perhaps you should grow out of the past a bit, and quit living up to your name, where NOTHING exists in a vacuum, vacmancannot.

      • landofaahs

O.K. little boy you have been asking for this. I will address your slave comment about the Bible later. It is amazing to me that you are so concerned about slavery in the Bible when you yourself promote it at the here and now. How so do you say.
The federal govt. wants to tell me what I can eat, drink, say, and in so many instances how to do what should be mine and my own business only. The govt. wants to tell me how to raise my children, what to drive etc. These are all things that slaveholders do to their slaves. The govt. also by taxation uses forced conscription of ones labor to foster another form of slavery. These are all things promoted by progressive democrats of which you are one. So you are a slaveholder wannabe. That is the history of the democrat party.
Now to your mocking of the Bible because of slavery. There is a compassionate reason for this practice in the Bible that would escape the mind of an occupooper. I will give my thoughts on it in the future, but not to you because that would be casting pearls before swine, which you have proven to be in your posts. I will post it when I have time in the next weeks, but not to you.
I do have something to OCCUPY your pea size brain though. Ponder this acronym and see if you can figure out it’s meaning. U.R.F.R.A.S.C.O.N.E. Now that is funny;)

Uhm, NO WHERE does the Bible say it actually okay to own slaves.  It says that NOWHERE in the Bible, vacman moron.  It does tell you how to treat your slaves, but it says NOTHING of it actually being ok to own them.  Again, you flat out prove that you have absolutely NO concept of what the Bible actually teaches.  You ought to actually try reading it once.

If FOX viewers are the least informed, why then are they the highest rated news programs on TV? They consistently out rank the competition program for program.

The truth is, what this ‘newspeak’ propaganda is really saying is that the American public is stupid, especially if the majorioty of people do not agree with what the MSM is feeding it. Bad enough to dumb-down the education of our children. But to assume that the majority of Americans are stupid, as they act and speak like we are, merely points out that their messaging isn’t getting through and they feel threatened.

      • Anonymous

“If FOX viewers are the least informed, why then are they the highest rated news programs on TV?”

Being popular doesn’t necessarily mean something is accurate.

        • Anonymous

Being unpopular (ie low ratings) does not mean they, the opposition, ARE accurate. Thing is, your premise is wrong. They are not the least informed. They are ‘drawn that way.” (with apologies to Jessica Rabbit) “Newspeak” messaging from the Propaganda Ministry (Media Matters/WH Communications)is furiously working to contain the message from a conservative news company that they are not winning the public, especially when they continually insult us by assuming we are as stupid as they want us to be.

The truth always boils to the surface. Are you going to believe the truth or those that tried to drown it in boiling water?

          • Anonymous

I never said that being popular means one is always wrong or that being unpopular means one is right. I was not trying to make a statement about Fox’s accuracy, I only meant to say that the popular = right argument is a faulty argument. It may be correct in some instances but it might be wrong in other instances. That’s all I was trying to get at.

          • Sunshine Kid

atl134, you might have been trying to get at the point, but you lost the argument!

          • Anonymous

You said “Being popular doesn’t necessarily mean something is accurate.” That was an inference. You may be saying now that popular = right is a faulty argument, however being right and being accurate are two different things. Fox enjoying high ratings is accurate. Saying that Fox viewers are the least informed is not right, nor accurate.

Actually, yes, it DOES make them the best at what they do (which is FAST FOOD burgers, okay? stop with your false comparisons), as far as public opinion is concerned, since we’re still in a largely free, capitalist society. There’s a valid point to be made that popular =/= accurate, but you didn’t make it, and this biased poll doesn’t either any more than the other ones did. They use flawed methodology every time, on purpose. Now, there are OTHER studies and polls that DIDN’T use such methodology, and – surprise, surprise – those ones DON’T support this “Fox News viewers are dumb” talking point.

          • Anonymous

But In-N-Out and Five Guys are rated the top burger chains.

Anyway his point is that just because something is most supported doesn’t mean it’s necessarily most accurate. It might be… but it might not be. Odds are most people commenting here disagree with the vast majority of climate scientists when it comes to climate change. If we were to adopt a “most popular position is right” philosophy then you’d have to accept anthropogenic climate change as something that is occurring since most climate scientists have that view.

Right, Eric.  So when MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC and virtually every other news network reports that the 911 call recording that they played for their viewers was “unaltered”, yet was shamelessly edited to make it sound like George Zimmerman was telling the operator that he was going after Treyvon Martin because he was black, that’s NOT indoctrination, right? When Keith Olbermann reports, as fact, less than 20 minutes after Gabriel Giffords was shot, that Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin had had personal communication with Jared Loughner, advocating he kill liberals and going on a 1/2 hour tirade blaming them, that’s NOT indoctrination, right? When the Young Turks host that replaced Keith Olbermann following his firing states that his only mission is to “destroy Fox News” and “educate young minds” while he does this, that’s not indoctrination, right? And when that same host, in his ardent defense of Anthony Weiner’s contention that “conservative hackers” broke into his Twitter account and planted the photos of his genitalia, hacked into a private Twitter account and released the name and location of a man who, he claimed was the “hacker” who committed the heinous act, thus endangering him and his family, that was actually news, right, NOT indoctrination…obviously. Of course, when the very next day, Anthony Wiener admitted that he had held more than 70 press conferences to deny his actions and had lied in every press conference, hoping that the media would go after an innocent and forget about investigating his lies, did host Cenk Uygur apologize or report that he had made a horrible mistake? Of course not, Eric. After all, if he HAD apologized, it would have cast HIM as a lawless hacker bent on the destruction of an innocent man for the crime of believing differently than he does. By saying nothing, failing to apologize or admit to those very young people he is “educating”, THAT’s certainly NOT an example of an attempt at indoctrination, right? Ok, so it’s not…it’s just a pathological tendency to lie, excuse or cover up so long as there is the remotest chance that it might cast liberals in a bad light.  Or else they just “forget” or deem unworthy of mention any report on anything that could result in harm to their darling liberal politicos, say, like Harry Reid calling Obama “not black enough”, or Senator Robert Byrd being a leader of the Ku Klux Klan who recruited hundreds of young members and incited them to deadly violence against what he called “uppity niggers”. Or even Bill Clinton, who, in defending Robert Byrd’s racist history, said, “Look…., he was just trying’ to get elected”.  Oh, so, according to the media and liberal politicians, if you’re a liberal who’s “just trying’ to get elected”, it’s okay to be a racist monster responsible for the deaths and terrorizing of black families. I don’t think that you define “indoctrination” the same way that a moral member of society would.  Apparently, what I would call vapid, unforgivable hypocrisy and lies means “truth” to you and the liberal media who so obviously have captured your admiration. That being the case, I don’t mind being called “indoctrinated” by you.

Because FOX routinely tells people what they want to hear, even when contrary to reality.

        • Anonymous

Really? And what do YOU learn from CNN? MSNBC? ABC, NBC,CBS? What YOU want to hear? Or the same ol’ same ol’? Perhaps you read WaPo? NY Times? HuffPo? Newsweek? Time Magazine? Tell me, does that make you anymore informed than anyone else? The news is the same wherever you get it. You can’t change the facts. All you can change is the presentation, the slant, and whether a particular item is included in the headlines.

I take it from your comment that you must listen to FOX routinely, in order for you to express your opinion as you have above. Perception is Reality. Apparently your opinions and perceptions are different than mine.

          • Anonymous

Yes, I check in on FOX, GB and Rush regularly, more than I check MSNB which has a different, and opposite editorial bias.  Fox has news programs and it has editorial programs (Hannity, O’Reily etc), and I suspect ratings are higher for the many hours of editorial programs which give people what they want to here.  And news can programs can choose which facts to report (e.g. comparing Bush and Clinton deficit spending).  I’ll go beyond perception is reality and say, you choose reality when you choose the channel.  What do *you* want to hear?

          • Anonymous

I want to hear you admit your own liberal bias. You believe anything you hear through media matters/WH communications talking points is facts? I choose not to believe anything not based on facts regardless of who reports it.

          • Anonymous

Why is it so important to label me a “liberal”, so that you can stop listening and discount whatever I have to say?  Yeah, dude, I lean a little left, but not enough to be “liberal” on the spectrum.  Yet it doesn’t take a leftie to see that the FOX network is basically a propaganda channel for the Republican party.  MSNBC was a programming response to FOX having already done this (and done it very successfully and lucratively). FOX is not a news organization in the tradition of American journalism (networks, newspapers), there’s not the same research, there’s not the same concern to avoid bias.  The reality is, if you only tune to the sources you want to hear, you will only hear the “facts” they want you to hear, which will entrench your bias.  The fact that I have a bias does not make you any more objective, make FOX any better of a news organization, or make its listeners any better informed.

          • Anonymous

Really? And just who do you think is shilling for the Preezy? ABC? Barbara Walters is so far up the POTUS’s ass, she doesn’t need to color her gray hair. NBC? Brian Williams could just as easily take Jay Carney’s place and do a much better job at it. Need I mention Jeff Immelt? CBS? Well they ARE beginning to straddle the fence. CNN? Fareed Zakaria has a straight line to the Preezy advising him on Arab relations in the Middle East. MSNBC? Well, they’re right there with Comedy Central, aren’t they?

You jump all over me for labeling you a liberal, when your words spell it right out. I don’t know whose talking points you are following–well they all come from the same place, don’t they? You’re entitled to your own inconsistencies and irrational thought processes, but the facts speak for themselves.

We’ve heard too much of the left wing propaganda for the last 4 years, specifically, to fall for their omission of facts and failures of accuracy in reporting.
I don’t know where you get your information that FOX is not a news organization but clearly you are misinformed.
The reality is that I tune OUT what I don’t care to listen to because of the lack of content and integrity in reporting as evidenced by the LSM media bias towards propaganda and WH talking points.

The fact that you have a bias does not make your opinion fact or the basis for cogent argument.

Now you run along back to your troll booth and leave the conservatives alone.

You’ve had every opportunity to assemble a line of argument, but are merely arguing (it’s not the same thing).  Meanwhile, the assertion that FOX viewers are the least informed still stands: The survey mentioned by Glenn Beck was not disproven by his statistical sample of “one” person, not is it disproven by attacks in this thread on everything that’s not “right.”

          • Anonymous

The survey mentioned by Glenn Beck is, however, disproven by EVERY SINGLE fact of actual REALITY seeing as study after study after study actually DISPROVES this idiotic study.  You need to get an argument that does NOT conflict with actual reality, duplicitowse.

          • SoThere

You leftist continually come up with these phony studies and make the data conform to your premise.  This latest study is just a continuation of liberal fake science and propaganda fostered by liberal idiots.

If this is all you leftist have, then electing Mit Romney is going to be a snap.  President Romney and us Conservatives will save this country and undo all the Marxist crap that leftists have forced on the American people.

        • Anonymous

You mean when study after study after study flat out PROVES that just about EVERYTHING stated by Fox News has PROVEN to be FACTUAL by actual reality itself, Fox News facts are contrary to reality?  LOL The idiot liberal logic of you idiot liberals is just stupid, you know.

      • Debbie Lass

lol being most popular doesnt mean they are most informed.

      The bible… source of truth????

      Exodus 21:20-21
If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave
      dies
as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if
the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his

The stories the Left are trying to launch at the Romney voters are so ridiculously childlike that nothing but pathetic sarcasm can be construed from the rhetoric.  Follow the example featured on Yahoo today….Did you know that Obama supporters usually use cell phones, while the Romney camp use landline phone?  As the stories change througout the day on all of the media; not one noon hour goes by before I’ve already choked on my donut.

    • Anonymous

That is a ridiculus story. But if you’re suggesting that that story is embematic of the left in comparison to the gross distortions comitted by FOX news and the GOP, then I think you’re seriously disillusioned.

      • Anonymous

I’ve got many megabytes of text (that’s plain text – know how much that amounts to, then?) demonstrating media bias to the Left. I’ve got studies and polls to that effect. What have you got – some parroted talking points from your lefty blog friends?

      • Sunshine Kid

If it is so ridiculous as you say, why are the stories there for us to read?

Your concerns for distortions of the news by Fox and the GOP is not balanced by your concern for distortions by the other news media and the DNC.  Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here trying to distort and disrupt, now would you?

      • Anonymous

Drewsco!! I am still waiting for the proof that the Fox female commentators must sign a contract denying global warming.  Please post the proof!

      • Anonymous

What distortions from Fox News and the GOP?  You do realize that study after study after study PROVES that Fox News does NOT distort the news like MSNBC and CNN have been PROVEN to do on a constant basis don’t you?

  • Anonymous

The reason why fox viewers are so misinformed is simple.  They don’t question anything they’re told.  Fox viewers are “simple-folk” who want to remain “willfully ignorant.”  They don’t want to know the truth, they only want to hear what they think is the truth.  See how this works?

    • greywolfrs

You really should look in the mirror. Dunce.

    • Sunshine Kid

Yes, we see how you are trying to “educate” us.

Thanks, but no thanks.  Let me know when you are not quite so unbalanced.

Right on! Media Matters is full of idiots and paid assassins of Obama and the left.

They have no credibility in the real world, only in Fantasy land and Obama land.

If this is all the leftist have then electing Romney is going to be a snap. Even Obama is spewing this leftist garbage on the campaign trail, he has nothing else.

Everyone I’ve talked to lately (even Democrats) have had enough of Obama and many switch channels when he comes on TV to spew his divisive garbage. People are tired of the leftists and are listening to Romney more and more because he talks about the economy.

Easy. Let go of your right-wing bigotry. I’ll be in threads all over the floor.

  • Anonymous

Vacman, here’s the deal: you clearly are not using the same level of scrutiny on your own beliefs as you do on others (in is case Fox viewers). It’s actually what most people do, but you should really be aware of this. FYI, just a quick web search for mediamatters.org misstatements will bring up a long list of errors, apologies and retractions from them. In fact, just reading their mission statement should clue one in that they are coming to the table with an obvious bias: “to monitor…conservative misinformation.” Really? Now if their goal was ANY misinformation, then, yes, we could possibly look to them as an unbiased observer…but he reality is at they are far from it.

And the truth about global warming (if you got your news from all sources) is that it is far from a decided scientific fact. The fact alone that pro-global warming scientist sign petitions and vote on it should let you know it is not science. (Here’s a hint: no scientist has to vote on gravity.)

So, please, go do your homework (i.e. read something other than msnbc.com or watch something other than CNN) and then we’ll have an informed discussion – and you won’t have to resort to trying to make a point by only name calling.

    • Anonymous

uncchap, The only only people who don’t think that global warming is occuring are the climate deniers and the “simple-folk” who watch the “FOXTITUTES” on fox news. Let me ask you one question.  If you wanted to study climate change what type of scientist would you consult?

      • Sunshine Kid

In your case, vacuum head, a “political scientist”.

Figure this in your head (if you can):  In the last century was a call about global COOLING (not warming).  It was in the papers all the time in the 1950s, and fingers were pointed at the coldest winters on record in the mid-1940s.  It was claimed that burning fossil fuels and weapons dropped during wartime led to blocking of the sun’s warmth.

Now the SAME ARGUMENT is saying that burning fossil fuels and dropping bombs creates a greenhouse effect – and this after cleaner burning engines were developed to make fuel burning less dirty and warfare much less polluting than it used to be.

Obviously, the “scientists” that make these claims have no idea what they are talking about!

Having an intelligent discussion with a dumb liberal is an exercise in laughter!

        • Anonymous

This is a perfect example of a misinformed Fox viewer.

First, if you’re talking about climate change, you talk to a CLIMATE scientist.  A meteorologist is about as qualified to give an opinion on climate science as a biologist is to do open-heart surgery.  I know they sound similar, like a biologist and a doctor sound similar, but they are different. I assume you’re smart enough to know the difference.

Second, your conjecture about global cooling being in “all the papers” in the 40s and 50s is just false. Flat out false. There was no consensus back then — they didn’t even build the first climate model till 1967. They just started figuring out that humans were affecting the climate, and couldn’t tell how.  Some said warming, some said cooling, most said “I don’t know”  (They saw that aerosols cool and CO2 warms, and they didn’t have enough data to figure out which would dominate.)

By the 1980s all the models were predicting the same thing, and right now you cannot find even a few CLIMATE scientists who disagree with human-caused global warming.

          • Sunshine Kid

*Actually, miketwo, I was being sarcastic (if the “vacuum head” didn’t tip you off).

I know full well what I wrote and also know that generally computers were not available to most scientists until the transistor brought the cost of computer experiments down to a reasonable venture. Indeed, the first computer had a massive four (4) kilobytes of memory, so could not do much more than simple arithmetic (remember that word?).

Your statement that my statement of global cooling was “flat out false” shows that you are as blind as can be to writings of the period, and even before or even lately. As for global warming, the debate is not all conclusively agreed to by all scientists despite your suggestion that they are in full agreement with each other.

For instance, try this site: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/GISSTemperature/giss_temperature4.php *

          • Anonymous

“As for global warming, the debate is not all conclusively agreed to by all scientists despite your suggestion that they are in full agreement with each other.

For instance, try this site: [link]”

Are we reading the same article?

Your example is a typical, humans-have-caused-global-warming climate scientist. At absolutely no point in the article does he dispute this, or even suggest that this is in dispute. It sounds like you only read the first teaser paragraph…

Or perhaps you don’t understand that this is what scientists do…?  Once a theory is well-established, the purpose of science is to explore the edges of that theory, where some contradictory data exists, and find explanations for them.  These explanations REFINE the original theory, they are not challenges to it.  At no point in the history of experimental science have these investigations overturned an original theory. Never.

Take gravity for example.  After that was well established, people started noticing that the planet Uranus was not exactly following the laws perfectly.  They did a bunch of calculations and discovered — on paper — that another planet would explain the differences.  They pointed their telescopes to the sky and lo and behold, in exactly the right spot, there was Neptune.  At no point was this a challenge to the theory of gravity.  At no point did any scientist think “Newton is totally wrong.”  Even when Einstein came along with relativity, it was only a refinement.  Einstein’s equations simplify to Newton’s when you’re going a lot slower than light speed.

Science is riddled with examples like this.  The article you cited is a scientist trying to refine the global warming theory by adding some extra details to it. In fact, the only reason he feels comfortable asking “Why was Earth cooling for a few decades?” is because it doesn’t make sense *in the context of global warming!*

There is full agreement, and your article is further proof of that.

      • Anonymous

Actually the correct answer to question number 6 is:  In December, House Republicans agreed to a short-term extension of a payroll tax cut, but only if President Obama agreed to make a decision on the Keystone Pipeline within 60 days. The extension of the Bush era tax cuts was a lame duck compromise back in Dec of 2010. Btw I’m technically a Fox viewer…

  • http://www.facebook.com/ken.rohrer Ken Rohrer

From looking at the questions, they answers are subjective. For example, If a conservative was to answer with the true percentage of unemployed, no doubt they would be counted wrong because the official doctored number is 8.1%. Also, although the Republican Party declared Santorum the winner in Iowa, Ron Paul actually won more delegates (28). No doubt both liberals and conservatives would answer that one wrong. It is apparent that the questions are biased and therefore the questioners have lower IQ’s.

  • Anonymous

Oh Glenn, you just proved your opponents right. The problem at FOX News is precisely the biased selection of questions. You, as an ex-FOX propagandist, fail in the exact same way in your blatant selection of information. And how on earth, for goodness sake, do YOU have the authority to measure intelligence. It’s the biggest joke I’ve heard today. Beck is definitely a rodeo clown.

    • vieteravet

You must watch MSNBC.  they decry FOX, but FOX beats them every night!

Nope. I have never ever watched it. LOL. You just proved you are a brainwashed FOX-BOT? LOL. What an idiot! Get off the freaking television. Read a book.

        • vieteravet

I’m not on the TV, it’s a flat screen it would hurt! I’m the idiot, but make disparaging comment about something you’ve never watched? Who’s calling whom an idiot?

I’ve watched Fox News, I have never given a second of my time to MSNBC. And I can tell you this: FOX News is as biased and misinformed as it gets.

          • vieteravet

Would you be kind enough to read what you first wrote to me, “Nope. I’ve never watched it.LOL.” Which time are you lying, before or now?

Learn how to read. I was clearly responding to your prejudice of me being an MSNBC watcher. Which I’m not. And if I was commenting from the beginning about FOX News, is because I watch it.

I didn’t have a problem with any of the questions.  This is just another of Obama’s worshipers faking another study.  They’re good at that.  How many OWS people did they survey or people who watch MSNBC? MSNBC are the stupidest people in the country, they think Obama didn’t increase the debt by 5.6 trillion dollars and have a chart to prove it !!!!

    LMAO

    • Anonymous

So there, this was a study conducted by Fairleigh Dickerson Universiy.  How can yo question it’s credibility?  You’re living proof the study is correct.  Your so mis-informed  you can’t follow a chart.  Why is that?

I question everything that sounds like garbage from you idiots. You leftist have tried this in the past and it didn’t work and this crap won’t work this time either.

If this is all that you idiots have then electing President Romney is going to be a walk in the park.

        LMAO

      • Anonymous

Apparently, you don’t question the credibility of anything that comes from the left.  You’re living proof that lefties are lemmings.  And, yes, FD University is just another lefty infested school, so anything coming from them is questionable.  Libs are liars.  We all know that.  So answer this:  if the study said the opposite, would you be here admitting you were wrong all along?  No, you’d say the study was bogus.  Just go away, troll.

      • Anonymous

Uhm, how can SoThere, or even me, question the credibility of the study?  What credibility, lol?  News flash, vacman moron.  This Fairleigh Dickerson University has NO credibility whatsoever.  It will continue to have absolutely NO credibility whatsoever until it actually reports something called the TRUTH.  That TRUTH will NOT conflict with reality either.

        • SoThere

I question the credibility because I actually read the poll and who they asked the questions in the poll.

It was not a study, (scientific or otherwise) and polls are biased by who, what and how the questions are asked.

          Fake liberal science once again.

          LMFAO

          • Anonymous

Indeed, SoThere.  It seems that for every bogus study like this one, there’s about 3 actually honest studies that come to a different conclusion, lol.  I mean, I’ve read several studies that prove beyond any and all doubt that Fox News is the most honest and trustworthy news station on the planet.  If that’s the case and Fox News lies, there’s no telling how much more the other stations lie, huh, lol?

          • SoThere

You don’t become the No. 1 cable news channel for 11 years in a row by telling lies. People aren’t that stupid. However, MSNBC has a loyal following of leftists, I think there’s a couple of dozen of them.

          • Anonymous

Yes, and of the 15 highest rated cable news shows, Fox News holds the top 12, lol. Heck, even Red Eye, which comes on at 3 AM in the morning when most people are supposed to be asleep, is beating a couple shows CNN and MSNBC on prime time in total viewers and pretty much all of them in the targeted demographic. If a show on Fox News at 3 AM in the morning is actually beating their shows on Primetime, what does that REALLY say about them, lol.

          • Anonymous

There are a couple of dozen of them, and they are ALL stupid. MSNBC is the stupid channel – all stupid, all the time.

          • Sandie

Sick how people watch that channel MSNBC and think of it and try to portray it as intellectual… how nutzoid is that. Those people can’t think beyond a couple yrs.

It is pretty obvious that they are taught what to think, and then they are taught to believe it.

          • Anonymous

Leftists are not smart enough to discern BS when they see or hear it. That’s why MSNBC has any audience at all.

What conservatives in their right mind would admit they listen to NPR or watch MSNBC? It’s not just the over-sampling of Republicans that stinks, it’s the fact that NPR and MSNBC are embarrassing American aberrations. They are train wrecks and only the most perverse individuals will admit that they make an effort to watch a bloody train wreck.

The Fairleigh Dickinson University “poll” FAILED.

    • Anonymous

How did the “poll” fail?  The poll proved what we already knew.  Fox news is like a religion, you have to be a person of faith to believe what their saying.  Why is that?

      • http://goo.gl/SUQxK Right Fielder

Their over-sampling nullifies any reasonable confidence interval, which reflects the applicability of their poll results for the given sample of available voters. In other words, they failed at pushing their agenda. The only people that bought into their poll results are clueless.

Your bias is showing so your opinion as it relates to the value of the poll is worthless.

    • http://www.facebook.com/garak99 Bill King

MSNBC is more opinion than news as far as straight news NPR is the best

  • Anonymous

Here is the methodology of the survey:”The survey by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind was conducted by telephone from Feb. 6 through Feb.12, 2012, using a randomly selected sample of 1185 adult residents… The margin of error for a sample of 1185 randomly selected respondents is +/- 3 percentage points… PublicMind interviews are conducted by Opinion America of Cedar Knolls, NJ, with professionally trained interviewers using a CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) system. Random selection is achieved by computerized random-digit dialing.”

Here is the methodology of Glenn Beck:
Call ONE random guy, who DOES NOT even watch the Fox News to prove that people who watch the Fox News are well informed.

see the original survey for yourselves:
    http://publicmind.fdu.edu/2012/confirmed/final.pdf

    • Anonymous

Damon  Thanks for the info on the survey, but you have to remember, that you’re dealing with the “simple-folk” who watch he “FOXTITUTES” on fox news.  People who watch fox are not critical thinkers, and they are not concerned with facts.  Why is that?

      • Anonymous

Again talking like you are better than everyone else huh vacmancan.  Oh and why don’t you try actually reading the link Damon put up. It clearly shows that the poll was riged against Republicans by the way no one cares about Republicans.  It the Tea Party that you liberals and communists have to watch out for. We outnumber you AND republicans by far.  Now why don’t you stop thinking you are better than everyone else and actually show a bit of human thought and shut up

    • SoThere

” the poll asked New Jerseyans about current events at home
andabroad, and from what sources – if any – they get their information.”

That’s a great base to poll, I wonder if “Snooki” was in the survey.

    • Anonymous

ok let me enlighten all of you. darom, thanks for the link i read it to the very end where it says,
“The FDU PublicMind study was based on a poll of 1,185 resident adults nationwide, including an oversample of Republican voters, and was conducted by landlines and cell phones from Feb. 6 through 12, 2012, and has a margin of error of +/-3 percentage points.”
So since they took the oversample of republican voters that does 2 things, 1) throws off the poll completely becuase of weighted numbers on the republican side. 2) proves that the poll was not “random” as you claim it was.  I wanna see the numbers where they don’t include an oversample of republican voters. The number for fox news would be exponentially larger than that of MSNBC I assure you. MSNBC which also did bad “partisan sources, such as Fox News and MSNBC, has a negative impact on people’s current events knowledge.” the poll convienently excludes the number of viewers who only watch “just” MSNBC. This poll proves absolutley nothing.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XLMXAPASH67DX4LWFAPSSAHKVY Last in Line

I don’t think Fox viewers are the dumbest…Especially if they watch Judge N. However, Fox News IS a corporate Counsel on Foreign Relations member, so as a Fox viewer you only know partial truths of what they want you to know, and only what suits their agenda. I’ll even toss out an example…Watch the Glenn Beck FEMA camps videos on Youtube, and you’ll see Fox’s CFR censorship in action.
The CFR owns over 90% of ALL MSM media…MSNBC, CNN, your local newspaper, etc…all have the same AP feeds and masters telling them which topics of the week to discuss, and crafting the ‘stories’ they tell you.
Why would the CFR want opposing news such as Fox and MSNBC? Simple- divide and conquer. If Democrats and Republicans are distracted from real issues and focused on fighting each other, those who sit in power can get things done from behind the curtains, and no-one sees it happen.
In a world of deception the closest thing we have to real news is to do lots of research on our own from many sources, then make our own judgments based on our findings which is too much effort for most people.
Did any of you think 10 years ago that Russian news (RT) would be broadcasting more meaningful news, and feed us less propaganda (not implying RT is spot on) than our own giant media groups? I didn’t.

  • bumpkinpm

Its just more propaganda to dis the republicans.  Divide and conquer.

You bloggers amaze me. I watch Fox News exclusively and I easily answered all those questions. People who watch NBC, CBS and ABC are clueless about the world news. Sure if you want to know some trivia they are great sources. I am tired of reading your rants about how bad Fox News is. It is all crap. If you want twisted lunacy propaganda then waste your time watching the crap on CNN and MSNBC, I don’t care. Just stop belittling people who are really informed about world events. Better yet, go get your news like most of the country, from Jon Stewart and Comedy Central.

One would have to be stupid, period, to believe that ‘Poll’.  A crazy person doesn’t know they’re crazy.

  • Roger Holman

This article is the biggest joke!!! I suggest you re-read it and tell me what’s missing…. The meat of the comments from GB et al is “Glenn set out … to prove otherwise”, “the methodology … increased Republican margin of error” and that “a fan … was able to give the right answers”.

So, where’s the PROOF???  Because a GB fan (note: “a fan” clearly implies ONE) was able to give all the right answers, that the university is full of it???  On what planet does this make sense?  Where IS this so called proof?

Note that the university contracted out polls to an independent company, which kinda lets the air out of the arguments that take swipes at the university… maybe Glenn should contract out a survey to find out how many Fox news fans think this article makes any sense at all.

    • Todd Scheller

That supposed independent company? Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind. Not really independent. Can you at least attempt to be honest?
      http://publicmind.fdu.edu/2012/confirmed/final.pdf
% reported watching their local news, yet this data was not reviewed. Can you say “Biased polling”?
Librals watching Fox were less well informed, lmao.

      • Roger Holman

        Honestly…

If you actually READ the document (that you linked to), it says “PublicMind interviews are conducted by Opinion America of Cedar Knolls, NJ…”

So, are you saying that this company (Opinion America) is a division of the university?  Honestly?  Where did you get that?  Fox news???

Just keep laughing, if it makes you feel better.  Please enjoy the Cool-aid while you’re at it.

    • Anonymous

“The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone
who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic
      questions correctly.”

I watch Fox news the majority of the time.
I knew the answers to 9.0 of the 9.0 questions.
      So, make that two fans.

I look at ALL the scores being less than 1.6 out of 9.0 as a sad state for domestic awareness across the board. The poll only compares cases of dumb and dumber in those that were selected for polling.

      • Anonymous

Fox is not news it’s opinion.  The problem is the “simple-folk” who watch fox think it is news.  The “FOXTITUTES” that sold their souls to fox, suck.  Why are they so evil?

        • Anonymous

VMC, that’s your opinion anyway. (couldn’t resist)
I think my reply to Roger applies to you also. Are you one of the average that scored <2 out of 10? If so, that can explain your response.

BTW.. Was it you that analyzed all the data to conclude that Fox was not news? Are you just repeating the opinion of someone who told their opinion to you? Do you really believe ALL other news besides Fox? Are you a MSNBC viewer?

I know, I know, Fox is biased and only has opinions. NONE of what they say is true. ALL other stations are unbiased and ALWAYS tell both sides and all of the truth without inserting any personal opinions or color in their reporting.

Kinda reminds me of that show "Fantasy Island" where dreams come true, no matter how strange.

      • Roger Holman

The independent company used totally random contacts… how do you suggest this method would end up with dumb and dumber?  They did “oversample” Republicans (as mentioned in this article too), is this the dumb and dumber that you are referring to?

        • Anonymous

          Sorry for the miscommunication Roger.
I was not referring to the methodology used.
I am not questioning the sampling methods used.
The “dumb and dumber” comment was just pointing out that overall, the average % correct scores for any subgroup really sucked, with <2 of 10 correct.

My concern is that the total electorate really does not have a clue, regardless of what party affiliation or news viewing habits. With everyone not having a good understanding of the issues, people will be voting based upon what they think they know and not necessarily the facts. Again, this applies to any type of group polled.I would have expected an average of 5 of 10 or better. The "people" obviously are not as smart as we give them credit for.
