Out of control: Kid busted for carrying toy gun!

Get Glenn Live! On TheBlaze TV

PC madness is officially out of control as schools are now flipping out any time a student plays cops and robbers or does anything involving even blatantly fake guns. Some kids have even been suspended for using their finger like a gun . Just the other day in Virginia, a ten-year-old boy was arrested for bringing a toy handgun to school!  It’s absolute madness but there is a reason behind all of it

The Washington Examiner explains:

A 10-year-old Alexandria boy was arrested after police said he brought a toy handgun to school on Tuesday, a day after he showed it to others on a school bus.

The boy, a fifth-grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School whose name is not being released, was charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon, police said.

He was also suspended from school, and Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Morton Sherman said further action is being considered, including expulsion.

“This is total indoctrination,” Glenn said. “What they are doing they are teaching our children to be terrified of guns.”

Remember that video from the 90s of Eric Holder telling school administrators to “brainwash children against guns”? And so it begins… when will people WAKE UP?

  • Anonymous

Crazy ? How many innocent (usually Black) people have been gunned down in the streets by police who though they had a gun that turned out to be a toy gun ?

  • http://youtu.be/xm1F7ub00gk Sam Fisher

In my area we hunt and when I was in school sometimes people would forget they had ammo in their pockets or in some cases left their rifle in their truck. They would not call the police if you were honest about and held the gun in their office to the end of the day for safety or whatever you had and gave it back to you after school hours. If you did it way to many times they would punish you. I feel there is nothing reasonable with taking toy guns away from children. For what reason or logic would it hurt? When I was little I and a few class mates reenacted the battle of Bull Run and our teacher was all for it and we even got extra credit. I had fun doing it. Liberals are taking away children’s childhood memories by making their childhood suck.

But you have no problem with millions of black babies being aborted.

  • Anonymous

a lot of schools have a no tolerance policy where even a knife brought in to cut an apple leads to a suspension.
this isn’t some sort of intentional devious indoctrination it’s just an extreme over reaction to violence in schools and it’s been around for awhile.

Abortion what has abortion got to do with bringing a gun to school ?

  • Draxx

The Schools are Teaching Our Children the Wrong Things!  My daughter asked me to help her with Spelling Homework the other day, and I was/am totally shocked at what I saw.  From her Printed Book Supplied by the School I read this on the 1st Line of Fill-in-the-Blank page.

“Tricia Ann ate her ___________ on a bench marked Whites Only.” (whites only was in italics)

If they are not teaching kids racism, what the hell are they teaching them!!!  We are looking into options to pull them out as soon as possible.

  • Draxx

You missed his point, it is about “Senseless” Deaths that can be prevented… either from abortion or shootings!

  • Anonymous

Abortion is something between a woman, her MD and her family. No Government Local. State or Federal has a rite to chain a woman to a gurney and force her to give birth especially in a case of rape. Republicans like to say personal freedom but there freedom does extent to Woman, Gays, Non English Speaking, non Christians

  • Anonymous

Is giving someone a funny look going to be labeled a “hate crime”?

  • Draxx

    See You Are Brainwashed…

How come the woman, her MD, and her family, get to choose?  But, You Never Metioned Anything About The Baby’s Choice To Live!!!  (I am sure if they had a voice they would say they want to Live!)

  • Anonymous

THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT FORCE A WOMAN TO CARRY A CHILD TO TERM. hOW ABOUT A COMPROMISE If the Government does that they will provide that woman and her family $50,000 per year until that child turned 21 years old if not shut up

  • Draxx

    tonybigs, Thanks for the comment…

You flashed me back to the early 90′s, I was walking in the mall with my older sister and she made a funny face. I asked her what that was all about and she replied, “You see that woman over there in the red jacket?  I hate her!”.  I asked Why and she gave this response, “Because, 10 years ago I was in Fred Meyers and She Gave Me A Dirty Look…!”.  I told her “Wow, that is crazy!  Us guys can get in a fist fight on Friday, and on Monday We are hanging out again as though nothing ever happened…”

I guess my sister commited a hate crime by those standards… LOL

  • Draxx

    Why are you SCREAMING?
You are saying that the Gov’t Cannot Force a Woman to Carry Full Term, But it is OK for the Gov’t Force an Abortion or Sterilize the Girl for making a Bad Decision (of not using birth control)???  And why on Earth should All Tax Paying Citizens Give Her and the Child FREE Money, when the ones Paying the Bill Have To Work Hard For Their Money?  Get Off That Damn Entitlement Bus You Are Riding…

Uh, you should be afraid of guns. No big duh.
And if the ridiculous right wing would be willing to pass some reasonable gun control laws, like real background checks without gun show exceptions, and a national mental health database that’s really used, then we wouldn’t have to be over careful about toy guns.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

Depends why you’re giving them the look.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

Oh, Draxx, maybe you should be a little more involved with your daughter’s schooling.
She is studying a unit on the civil rights years, and the history of discrimination against American Blacks. Good schools use an integrated curriculum, which means that the subjects reinforce the lessons. Her spelling lesson used sentences and ideas from her study of the civil rights movement to reinforce that lesson while teaching spelling.

    Hope that clears it up!

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

LOL. That’s their trump card. When they can’t think of anything to say, they throw out a irrelevant, specious non-sequitur about abortion.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

And you have no problem with billions of animals being killed just so you can eat more conveniently.

  • http://youtu.be/xm1F7ub00gk Sam Fisher

Well thanks for proving Glenn’s point. Second I don’t give a damn pork taste good try it once you coward.

  • Draxx

Thanks, it would have been nice to see something Else on the page that referenced Civil Rights, because it was a stand alone sentence without anything to match it (and there were no instructions or comments about subject matter).

But, my daughter still tells me things that disturb me from time to time about what they are learning.  In Choir they are singing a song about a girl beating up another girl, with no apparent Meaning Behind the Lyrics (except that the beat up girl was Sad, but it did not say the one doing the beating was Bad)…

Does anybody have a picture of this toy gun? I mean if its an exact replica, made in steel, perhaps the kid deserves to get in a little trouble. However, if its a plastic gun you can buy at the dollar store, with an orange tip on it – this is ridiculous!

  • http://youtu.be/xm1F7ub00gk Sam Fisher

It not a gun if it is not real. Like liberal reality.

  • Anonymous

Yes..I saw a picture on another site can’t remember where but it was a orange tip play gun..I also saw where another kid got suspended for throwing an imaginary hand grenade…common sense is completely lost…

This is Political Correctness run amok!!!  Is there no common sense or rational thought in America?  Those of us that grew up playing Cowboys and Indians, or Cops and Bad-guys learned to differentiate between good and evil, right and wrong, appropriate behavior vs criminal behavior.  To suspend a child making a his hand into a gun, or arresting a child for playing with toy guns… seriously????  These folks need to get a brain and get over it.  If the 2nd Amendment applies to “the right of the People to keep and bear arms.” then certainly that same Amendment along with the 1st Amendment guaranteeing free speech/expression should be protecting these innocent kids having innocent fun.  Shame on those that turn them into criminals for imitating their heroes… or at least those who are supposed to be the good guys!!!

  • Anonymous

It all depends how one looks at things. Today could be a toy gun, tomorrow it could be the real thing. I don’t see ANY reason for a fifth grader to bring a toy gun to school.  There is absolutely NO rational purpose to do such a thing. I do believe that the punishment is blown out of proportion, though. That kid should have been given a lecture and his parents too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/george.reagan.56 George Reagan

Start with the young ones, the liberals say.  Brain wash them so they will be afraid of the authority figures.

  • Sandie

What about the story today about the young kid on the playground who was pretending to throw a grenade to blow up the bad things to save the world? He got suspended for pretending! The kid is still dumbfounded as to why he was suspended for playing “Save the World”. There was no grenade, no object of any kind, he just made the motion!

  • Robert Paul

My suggestion to combat this stupidity:  Parents everywhere start TELLING YOUR CHILDREN TO GO TO SCHOOL AND POINT YOUR FINGERS AT EVERYONE LIKE A GUN!!  Even shout out, “Bang Bang!”  Tell kids to start drawing pictues of guns by the hundreds!  Let’s OVERWHELM the schools everywhere with kids NOT CONFORMING to these stupid zero tolerance policies.  There should be water pistol daysat schools everywhere.  You have to combat this insanity some how, and I think this might be the best way to do it.  They CANNOT expel EVERY student if they ALL get involved!

  • Robert Paul

I have to respectfully disagree (to an extent).  Yes, the punishment was out of proportion.  And the only thing which should have happened is the kids should have been counseled.  HOWEVER, in light of the growing propensity of our government to OPPRESS us by INTIMIDATION (which this clearly is), I believe we have to fight back.  I recommend communities flooding the schools with harmless toy guns and drawings of guns until they cannot deal with the stupidity of it all and agree to ease up on the lack of common sense.  The left likes to refer to this technique as “civil disobedience,” and I happen to think it might be called for.

    lol. how mature.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

They’re not brainwashed to be afraid of authority figures. They are taught to question authority. Which is a classic American tradition.
For a conservative who hates the government, you sure seem to like cops.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/AUCU3E5BU2Z4KBRPWLPXWSLX6E know it some

How is a child bringing a toy gun to school fighting back against an oppressive government? That makes no sense.
And it’s pathetic to have children fight your fights for you. What are you, Hamas?

This leftard political correctness crap has gone too far. Maybe it’s time to start home schooling our kids, these progressive twits can’t put anything into perspective.

They are not taught to question, they are taught to ignore the answer.

  • Draxx

I had a discussion tonight with my daughter about the subjects she is studying (5th grade), and she clearly stated that they are NOT Studying on Human Rights!  She said the closest thing to human rights after I explained to her what I meant, is three weeks ago they discussed Women’s Rights to Vote and nothing about Black or White.  (Heck I would have rather had your explaination be what I heard!)

All I can say is that my wife and I do our best to teach our kids to think for themselves, and I am glad that I have an open relationship with them that they can tell me what is on their minds.  My daughter told me that she will let me know more often what is going on at school…

  • Sandie

I can just imagine all the teachers coming unglued over that one! LOL

  • Sandie

I kinda like Robert Paul’s idea: get all the kids to point their fingers like pistols and run around the playground yelling “bang – bang – bang”. Overwhelm “authority” to show them how stupid it is. What can they do suspend every student? LMAO
I guess my rebellious streak is showing (grin)

I know what you are feeling, believe me. I have a granddaughter in first grade and they voted in school during the election. She voted for Romney and many of her friends as well as the teacher voted for Obama. Three of her friends said they were not her friend anymore because she voted for Romney and that Obama loved them(black kids) and Romney was poop. She was so upset so she told the kids that Obama let four people die in Libya because he said “stand down”. Yes, she hears Fox News in the evening sometimes…better than what she is learning in school. The teacher(black) heard the conversation and called her up front and said she didn’t know what she was talking about because Obama would never hurt anyone. My daughter was furious and went to the school board. The teacher was also reading books the whole week of the election and week after about Obama. She is pretty much teaching them NWO in so many words too, but the school board said she was staying pretty much on the curriculum. We hate to pull her out of the school now because she well exceeds her grade level and she still loves her teacher and friends but said they just don’t know what Obama is doing to this country. Maybe she will teach them something. She knows more about how the government works and what is going on than most liberals. Her teacher has a huge poster of Obama behind her desk. That really was insulting and confusing when they voted with many voting for Romney. I as a grandmother am so sick of this mess. Obama is doing to this country and our children exactly what he wants….destroying the future of both.

expelling young children for idiotic things has got to stop. However, when I was teaching several years ago, I not only explained to children on the playground that they must not fight, but also, they should make an effort to avoid pointing their finger at someone when they are angry, because if they do it as an adult they can be arrested for assault. Finger pointing is the step right before violence occurs [as is waving arms around wildly], so for good civil relations in life, good manners are taught and encouraged WITH intelligent explanations.

  • Anonymous

I just had this thought. If you child is arrested, now he/she has a record. “A juvenile brandishing a weapon” does not look good if their law abiding parent tries to buy a gun. Are you following me?  No one has said this but does it make sense in the crazy world we live in? I hope I am so wrong.  God bless our kids.

This NOT new. My son failed an English essay in 5th grade. When I asked the teacher what the problem was, she said he REFUSED to write a class assigned essay. I asked what the essay was about, and she responded ( sheepishly) that it had to do with the book “My Side of the Mountain”. I am well familiar with the book and loved reading it as a youth. After some wrangling, I found out that the essay was supposed to start out thus: The last time I wanted to run away from home I. . . .

If your children are in public school you will see a lot of essays where the curriculum GIVES the theme of the essay, and it is VERY OFTEN unsavory. The themes seem to always lead to a negative response.

When I asked her why she thought that the theme of the book was running away from home and not the character’s survival in the woods, she could not answer. I told her that was as dumb as thinking the theme of Swiss Family Robinson is the ship wreck and not the journal of the family’s survival. She had no answer. The school had approved the essay in their curriculum. (Can you say- government digging into areas they have no right to delve)? We soon found over a very short period how esoteric and full of psycho babble our little public school was.

My son wrote one sentence. “I have NEVER thought of running away from home because I love my Family, and would miss them”. She failed him, after numerous other weird incidents, we pulled him from public school and home schooled him and his two younger brothers. That was 20 years ago.

YES! You are exactly correct. We are teaching are kids to be terrified of guns and that shouldn’t be how it is. Toy guns have been a part of our childhood memories since World War II. Plus, toy guns are a great way of teaching our kids gun safety! There should be nothing wrong with cap guns or airsoft guns for children at the appropriate ages.

Oh but fake and imaginary weapons kill people didn’t you know that.

  • Anonymous

Teachers love to question authority, unless it is their authority.  Now they wonder why they have no control in their classrooms.  They brought it on themselves.  Question authority?  Absolutely, but one must have some maturity and life experience before doing so.  Otherwise, it is just juvenile rebellion.  As to the subject at hand, the child didn’t have a weapon; he had a toy.  Kids have been suspended from school for using a chicken leg or their fingers as a gun.  That poses a danger?  I suppose if he brought a toy car to school he would be cited for driving without a license, felony hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon and anything else the teachers, administration and police could dream up.  This is madness.
