Oh, Cory Booker must have thought he had Mike Pompeo dead to rights during his Secretary of State confirmation hearing yesterday. Forget asking any kind of relevant question that would have actually determined whether Pompeo was qualified to be America’s top diplomat, no, Booker wanted to know what Pompeo thought about… gay sex.
Wanna know where this is headed? Try checking out Salem, Massachusetts in 1693. But witchcraft won’t be what’s on trial here… Christianity will be. Because that’s exactly what was on trial yesterday. Booker was trying to out Pompeo’s Christianity.
What if Pompeo would have taken the bait? Can you imagine the follow-up questions?
“ARE YOU OR ARE YOU NOT A CHRISTIAN?!!!”
“HOW MANY TIMES A DAY DO YOU PRAY?!!!”
“DO YOU GO TO CHURCH EVERY WEEK?!!!”
Where does this end? Is my copy of the Constitution different than everyone else’s? Because in mine, freedom of religion is covered under the First Amendment. It shouldn’t matter that Pompeo views gay sex as a sin. He can THINK what he WANTS. That’s kind of an American staple.
Will every Christian belief soon be on trial in the hallowed halls of Washington, DC? Will everything Christians view as sinful suddenly make them inadequate or disqualified from public service?
Christianity is ABSOLUTELY under attack. You can’t tell me that if Keith Ellison — a practicing Muslim — was sitting in the same spot, that he would have been given the same question. They wouldn’t have DARED. But Pompeo’s Christianity? Fair game. For some reason, it’s easier for them to believe that a Muslim is capable of being both religious and able to champion the secular rights of people, but a Christian somehow isn’t.
Hillary Clinton breezed through HER confirmation in near record time. Not once did anyone ask her about the HERESY of declaring marriage as being between a man and woman. If it’s so pivotal to being the Secretary of State, why didn’t they? Maybe it’s due to her last name being Clinton, but it’s also because Christianity is under attack like never before.
Put on the full armor of God. These “trials” are only going to get worse.
