On today’s show, Glenn breaks out the chalkboard to continue his week-long in-depth look into socialism.
Socialism is nothing new. The concept has been around since long before it had a name. Take Jamestown for example. In Jamestown, there was no such thing as private property. Everything belonged to the community and everyone worked for the greater good. Sounds like a great idea, right? A Utopian dream on Earth. Unfortunately, things did not turn out so great for the colonists, as Glenn explains in this clip from the show.
“Actually the facts tell a very different story,” said Glenn. “The mortality rate wasn’t good … in fact, it was catastrophic. In the first six months, [of] the first 104 colonists that arrived in 1607, 66 died. In 1609, it was even worse. In the first six months after 500 arrived … 440 died. Why? Why is socialism always connected with death?”
