On Thursday, the Scottish people voted against independence, preserving its 307-year-old union with England. 84% of the 4.2 million people who had registered to vote showed up at the polls. Jordan Gonzalez, an 11-year-old Florida student, recently lost his best friend to suicide. His friend, 14-year-old Lamar Hawkins III, shot himself in school bathroom.
