‘Dad Murdered Democracy’? Activists Harassed FCC Chair’s Family on Thanksgiving

Did you enjoy Thanksgiving weekend with your family? Be glad that protesters weren’t outside your door posting threatening messages about your children.

Ajit Pai, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, said pro-net neutrality activists targeted his home in Virginia and left a chilling sign that read “They will come to know the truth. Dad murdered Democracy in cold blood.”

On today’s show, Glenn explained why net neutrality regulations from the Obama administration don’t really help everyday Americans. He also condemned protesters who think that invading someone’s holiday with loved ones will further their cause.

“Attacking a family is not activism,” Glenn said. “This is terrorizing a family.”

GLENN: They will come to know the truth: Dad murdered democracy in cold blood. That was what was written on a sign outside of the home of the FCC chairman over Thanksgiving weekend.

He -- he should have been home with his family. The chairman of the FCC enjoying the holiday, just enjoying it, but instead, he was subjected to protesters with apparently nothing better to do than stand outside of his home with harassing signs and send pizzas to his door every hour. Which actually sounds good. I just want to point that out.

That's kind of a good deal.

STU: Best protest ever.

GLENN: Really is. But who does this on a Thanksgiving weekend?

Apparently, people who are insanely mad that the chairman of the FCC said in order to terminate most of the net neutrality regulations set in place by the former FCC commissioner.

Attacking -- attacking a family is not activism. This is terrorizing a family.

I would bet that the protesters didn't even really understand net neutrality in the first place.

Net neutrality does not guarantee a free and open internet for all. The regulations don't benefit the average man. It is always like this.

The regulation was drawn up by Google. They benefit Google. And that's about it.

Enforcing net neutrality does the exact opposite of what the proponents claim. It results in an internet where a handful of large corporations have access to peering agreements with the fast lane, and the rest of us are subjected to far fewer options.

So here's some free advice before you go out and protest somebody, before harassing a family, you should know something about the subject that you're protesting. You know, consider staying inside and researching the topic and having an intelligent conversation over turkey with your family and friends.

But if you ever find yourself in this situation and you want to send free pizza to a home, you can send it to my house.

The Fed, banks printing money to 'prevent' trouble: Recession WILL come soon

Glenn discusses the current state of the economy with author of "Zero Hour," Harry Dent. He says the federal reserve is still funding big banks daily to increase their excess reserve, signaling that something is wrong with the system. Dent says the banks printed money back in the 1930s to climb out of the Great Depression, which only created an aftershock that was even worse. Banks and the Fed are doing the same thing today, so will the coming economic crisis be worse than the 2008 recession? Economist Dent says it's possible, and that it could come as early as 2020.
